CHAPTER 386: CHAPTER 386: ELIAS THE TROUBLEMAKER

Quinn Lockwood exited WeChat and tossed her phone to the side, hands on her hips, pondering what exactly she should do.

Maybe she’ll start by cooking rice; surely he can eat plain rice!

Quinn puffed up her cheeks, washed the rice, and put it into the rice cooker, only to find it seemed to be out of power.

Elias Sinclair!

Quinn suddenly remembered that morning when she was still asleep, she faintly heard a deep voice murmuring in her ear: "Madam, the rice cooker seems to be broken."

Now, without even thinking, Quinn knew how the rice cooker had broken.

Damn it, all her efforts went to waste, and she had to start all over again.

Quinn took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger rising from within, and asked the housekeeper responsible for kitchen affairs to prepare new ingredients and a rice cooker.

Once the preparations were ready, Quinn glanced at the time; it was around ten o’clock.

She analyzed the cooking time based on the dishes to be made, not too early nor too late.

If made too early, by the time she delivered them to the company, they would have cooled down. Although there were microwaves available for reheating, Quinn felt it would alter the taste, losing the original texture and aroma of the food.

If cooked too late, it would delay Elias Sinclair’s meal time. By the time she delivered it, he might have already started his afternoon work and would have no time to eat.

Calculating and jotting down notes on paper for a while, Quinn decided on the cooking start time, and then hurried back to her room to tidy up her appearance.

Heading out, especially when going to Elias Sinclair’s, she felt she should tidy herself up a bit to show respect for Elias, and also to avoid embarrassing him, the big boss.

After preparing three dishes and a soup to suit Elias’s taste, Quinn arrived at The Sinclair Group right at lunch time.

Just stepping out of the elevator and walking a few steps, she saw Joyce Kramer holding a resignation letter.

Quinn slightly frowned, reluctantly avoiding any interaction with Joyce, and deliberately looked straight ahead, pretending she hadn’t seen her.

Joyce, too, held her head high, maintaining her arrogant demeanor, not even glancing at Quinn.

Just as they were about to pass each other, Quinn thought there would be no further interaction between them, when Joyce suddenly stopped.

"Don’t be too pleased with yourself. He’s only interested in you for the novelty. A woman like you isn’t even worthy of one of his hairs."

Joyce’s voice was hoarse with jealousy and resentment, completely lacking the usual gentle softness, her face twisted with vicious darkness.

Quinn raised an eyebrow, her clear eyes not showing any joy or sorrow, her elegant face displaying calm indifference.

"I don’t think you can even touch one of his hairs, can you? Are the resignation procedures done? Then don’t linger around the company, hurry up and leave."

Quinn glanced sideways at Joyce with some disdain, her tone impatient as if urging her to leave.

"Oh no, the food’s getting cold, I need to get inside quickly." Quinn raised her hand carrying the lunch box, looking anxiously towards Elias Sinclair’s office, quickly hurried over, without giving Joyce another glance.

Watching Quinn quickly walk away, Joyce’s baby fat trembled slightly with anger, her eyes shooting out sharp glares.

Bitch, just because I can’t beat you doesn’t mean others can’t.

We’ll see how long you can stay smug.

Feeling extremely uncomfortable from the grievance in her heart, Joyce took out her phone from her pocket, her slender fingers lightly swiping and tapping a few times before entering a chat window.

"It’s time for you to take back what’s yours." Joyce sent the person photos of Elias Sinclair having a meal with Quinn Lockwood posted on X, along with their marriage certificate, and added this message.

Quinn opened the door to Elias Sinclair’s office, her previously good mood slightly agitated by Joyce’s interference.

Seeing Elias with one earbud in, watching his computer, Quinn thought he was leisurely enjoying his midday rest, feeling slightly unbalanced.

"Last night, you clearly said you’d eat whatever I made, but when I asked you this morning, you refused to eat this or that. I don’t know what carrots ever did to you, even as a side dish you won’t have them."

Quinn said, closing the door and muttering.

She pouted and placed the lunch box on the coffee table, seeing Elias still looking at the computer, seemingly with a faint smile on his lips, making a rush of anger come over her.

"You’re the one who told me this morning that the rice cooker was broken, right? So it must have been you who messed it up."

"Besides, don’t you never go into the kitchen in the morning? What happened today that made you go in and mess with the rice cooker? You didn’t go in on purpose to cause trouble, did you!"

"I’ve noticed you’re becoming more and more like a child lately. To correct your bad habit of being a picky eater, I added carrots to the fermented black bean fish." Quinn sat on the sofa, arranging the lunch boxes while grumbling to herself.

Seeing Elias still not taking off his headset, his smile deepening, she stood up directly.

"Hey, what are you looking at? I’m talking to you." Quinn furrowed her brows, deliberately acting all bossy and puffed up, hands on hips, staring at Elias.

Elias raised his eyes to Quinn, a layer of light shimmering in his gaze, and he unexpectedly let out a laugh.

"Alright, market volatility and product price fluctuations are inevitable; just keep an eye out and be prepared with various response plans." His expression instantly returned to seriousness and sobriety.

However, the young men in suits on the other end of the computer screen widened their eyes in surprise, glancing at each other incredulously.

They couldn’t believe that the normally aloof and dispassionate Mr. Sinclair could have such a side to him; what a shocking news indeed!

Quinn paused, not quite understanding what was happening, nor the meaning behind Elias’s string of words.

Is he instructing her on how to handle company matters? But why does it seem so incoherent?

"What are you talking about? Come over and eat." Quinn placed the chopsticks and then looked up at Elias in confusion.

The man took off the earphones, turned on the normal external volume, and was about to tell the others that the meeting could be concluded when sounds of surprise and teasing came through.

"Aww, go eat, Boss Sinclair. Rest assured, we’ll keep an eye on the market trends here."

"Oh man, we’re only going downstairs for fast food; no one around here brings us heartwarming home-cooked meals."
