CHAPTER 449: CHAPTER 449: THE NEGLECTED DAUGHTER-IN-LAW

Quinn Lockwood had no time to dress up deliberately. After a busy day and spending a night at the hospital, the makeup on her face had long been wiped clean by Elias Sinclair.

At this moment, she wore no makeup, her dark tea-colored long hair was simply tied into a ponytail. Her eyes were clear and lively, but she remained still, looking straight ahead. This simple look made her appear fresh and clean.

Completely different from Savannah Lowell’s previous sultry style with heavy makeup.

Mrs. Sinclair was already surprised by Quinn Lockwood’s polite and gentle manner, and upon seeing her simple and elegant face now, she stared at her in surprise for a long time.

"Eli..."

"Um, Mom, is there something on my face?" Quinn Lockwood felt a bit uneasy under Mrs. Sinclair’s gaze, thinking that she might have upset her mother-in-law by speaking up before Elias.

But in her impression, even though her mother-in-law didn’t particularly like her, she wasn’t the type to make things difficult or act high and mighty.

"It’s nothing, you both must be tired." Mrs. Sinclair quickly withdrew her gaze, nodding at Quinn Lockwood as a response, then linked arms with Melody Shepherd and began talking to Elias.

"How come you have no reaction to seeing your dad and mom? I told Maya you’d definitely be surprised." Mrs. Sinclair seemed somewhat displeased, glancing at Elias, then exchanged knowing looks with Melody Shepherd beside her.

"Aunt Sinclair, you’ve misunderstood Elias. When I called him, I could clearly tell he was very happy."

"He was originally at the hospital with Miss Lowell, but as soon as he heard you and Uncle Sinclair were back, he came right over!" Melody Shepherd smiled sweetly and graciously, holding Mrs. Sinclair’s hand in a friendly, natural manner.

"Came from the hospital?" Mrs. Sinclair seemed satisfied after hearing Melody Shepherd’s words and lifted her gaze to look inquiringly at Elias, then glanced at Quinn Lockwood.

"Yes, Savannah wasn’t feeling well, so I took her to the hospital for a check-up." Elias nodded slightly, his expression calm, and his gaze toward Melody Shepherd was only a fleeting glance.

"I’m fine, just probably exhausted recently." Quinn Lockwood waved her hand, quickly explaining to the Sinclair parents, as she didn’t want the topic to stay on her.

Moreover, her mother-in-law didn’t really like her.

"As long as you’re okay." Mr. Sinclair looked over Quinn Lockwood, seeing that she really seemed fine, he nodded reassuringly.

"Alright, stop chatting here, let’s head back first." Mr. Sinclair said to them, then gently patted Elias on the shoulder.

"Elias, is there any update from the company recently?" Mr. Sinclair and Elias walked ahead, and as soon as they started discussing the company, both their expressions became serious and focused.

"Maya, I haven’t had the chance to ask you, when did you come back? You didn’t even let me know. Your Uncle Sinclair and I were planning to come back with you this time."

Mrs. Sinclair, seeing the father and son walk away, also led Melody Shepherd in tow.

Regarding Melody Shepherd’s return home without notifying her, Mrs. Sinclair seemed somewhat complaining, but in a loving way, like an elder scolding a younger one for not returning home often.

The two chatted warmly about the situation in Meridia, ignoring Quinn Lockwood and walking right past her, giving the impression that they were the real mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

Quinn Lockwood stood there awkwardly, pulling her lips into a slight smile, then followed the four of them.

Watching the familiar way Mrs. Sinclair and Melody Shepherd chatted, she suddenly felt a bit sad.

It seemed Mrs. Sinclair hoped for Melody Shepherd to be her daughter-in-law.

At this moment, Quinn Lockwood felt the noisy environment around her suddenly grew quiet, as if a transparent and impermeable net surrounded her entirely.

Muffled.

A heavy feeling in her chest made her uncomfortable.

Quinn Lockwood followed them to outside the airport.

She thought all four had already gotten into the car, but saw Elias standing by the car door, leaning against it and watching her.

"Get in." As usual, the man opened the car door for Quinn Lockwood and helped her buckle the seatbelt, not at all awkward or uncomfortable even in front of his parents.

Melody Shepherd and Mrs. Sinclair sat in the back seats. She initially planned to completely ignore Quinn Lockwood, but didn’t expect Elias to be so gentle and considerate with her, even in front of Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair.

She glanced at Quinn Lockwood through the rearview mirror, her smile briefly froze, but quickly returned to normal.

They quickly arrived back at Sinclair Manor, and as soon as they entered, Grandpa Sinclair and Nina Sinclair hurried to greet them.

"Ah, you’re finally back. I thought you two forgot about this old man." Grandpa Sinclair stopped after a few steps, pretending to be displeased with Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair, though he couldn’t hide his smile.

"Dad, how can you say that? Your son didn’t mean that at all." Mr. Sinclair hurried over to support Grandpa Sinclair, seemingly helpless about his father’s childish antics.

"Grandpa Sinclair must have missed Uncle and Aunt Sinclair too much." Melody Shepherd clasped her hands behind her back, watching Grandpa Sinclair and the other Sinclairs playfully bickering, and couldn’t help but laugh.

"Yes, you know the old man has a tough mouth but a soft heart." Mrs. Sinclair led Melody Shepherd inside, the two elegant and noble women walking together truly gave the impression of being mother and daughter.

At first, Grandpa Sinclair didn’t notice Melody Shepherd, but when he heard her voice, his previously smiling face turned solemn, and he turned to look at her with some displeasure.

"Savannah, what are you doing in the back? Come over here."

"Help grandpa go eat. I had special arrangements made to airlift red snapper from Cipango just for you to cook." Grandpa Sinclair glanced around, noticed Quinn Lockwood standing at the back, and his face darkened. He then walked over and gestured for her to come over.

"Ah, okay, grandpa." Suddenly called upon, Quinn Lockwood took a moment to respond, blinking adorably several times before going over to support Grandpa Sinclair.

After all, from the airport up until now, Quinn Lockwood had been in nearly a transparent state, not speaking nor spoken to.

"You’ve been so busy lately grandpa hasn’t even seen you come back. Look at you, you’ve lost weight." Grandpa Sinclair said while walking toward the dining table, observing Quinn Lockwood’s condition.

"Nanny Warren, tell the chef to prepare the red snapper, remember to keep it light."
