CHAPTER 5: CHAPTER 5: HEADLINES

Elias Sinclair was momentarily startled, then his brows furrowed even tighter as he spoke sarcastically, "Playing hard to get? Savannah Lowell, I have to admit, this method is indeed more effective than before, but even so, you shouldn’t be joking around with Cameron’s life!"

His voice carried a hint of anger, but Quinn Lockwood was baffled, unsure why Elias was talking about Cameron!

"I think you’ve misunderstood something! This has nothing to do with my brother!"

"Heh..." Elias Sinclair approached Quinn Lockwood dangerously, his eyes flashing with danger, "Is it not you who deliberately took Cameron’s medicine to lure me over? Savannah Lowell, you should be thankful Cameron is okay today, otherwise ten of you wouldn’t be enough to compensate!"

Quinn’s little face suddenly changed, clearly angered by his words. She glared fiercely at Elias, but after a moment, she suddenly laughed, "Elias Sinclair, are you out of your mind?"

"I used to really like you, but that was in the past."

"To be honest, I realized when I banged my head against the wall that forcing things won’t make them sweet. Yesterday you said I deliberately called Grandpa over just to put on an act with me. Today you’re saying I intentionally made my brother sick. Maybe my concern for my brother is seen as intentional in your eyes."

"But Elias Sinclair, you’re wrong about all of this. Whether you believe it or not, I won’t admit to things I haven’t done."

Elias Sinclair was momentarily stunned; he had never seen such a frank expression on Savannah’s face before, and unconsciously exerted more force with his hand.

Quinn frowned but refused to cry out in pain, stubbornly facing him.

In her heart, she was even more determined to find a way in the future to completely separate herself from this man.

The man realized his actions and immediately released her, Quinn’s brows furrowed as she rubbed her reddening wrist, lowered her head, and slipped out from under his arm.

When she reached the ward door, Quinn stopped, looking at him with disdainful eyes as if stating her resolve, "Oh, forgot to say, I thank you for your disgust, so in the future, let’s not bother each other, okay? Since you distrust me so much, isn’t it better to stay far away from me? As for what I just said, I’ll prove it to you with my actions. And the man inside is my brother. Even if I gamble with your life, I won’t risk his."

Having said that, Quinn rolled her eyes dramatically and entered the ward, feeling a bit alleviated from the stifling pressure on her chest.

Elias did not enter again, perhaps he had left, but she didn’t care at all.

In a daze, Quinn lay on the sofa and fell asleep; probably too many things to think about in the past two days had exhausted her, leading to an unusually deep sleep. When she woke up again, it was already the next morning.

Quinn rubbed her sore neck and opened her eyes, suddenly sitting up as if remembering something, looking towards the hospital bed only to find Cameron Grant nowhere to be seen!

"Where is he?"

Quinn hurriedly got up, but not noticing the blanket draped over her sometime, she nearly stumbled forward towards the coffee table, thankfully caught by a pair of steady hands.

"Why so reckless."

Quinn looked up joyfully, "Brother, you’re awake! How are you feeling, any better? You don’t know how much you scared me yesterday..."

She stood up, her face usually adorned with heavy makeup now bare, looking fresh and beautiful, especially those lively eyes, making one want to look for a while more.

Cameron’s eyes flashed a hint of complexity, quickly diverting his gaze, "Mm, I’m fine now, why didn’t you go home to sleep?"

Quinn hadn’t noticed his anomaly, stretching lazily, "I was worried about you. Oh, by the way, brother, are you hungry? I’ll go downstairs to get you something to eat; it’s four o’clock now, the breakfast shops should be open."

Quinn grabbed a nearby hat and glasses to wear, when suddenly, there was noise at the door.

Both looked over to see Elias Sinclair still dressed sharply in a suit, walked in with a cold expression, slightly frowning upon seeing Quinn’s bright and cheerful face.

"Are you feeling better?"

Cameron smiled gracefully, "I’m fine now; yesterday was probably a drug overdose causing the attack."

Quinn watched the two conversing, unable to resist raising an eyebrow; Elias Sinclair who never showed her a good face, was amiable to Cameron, even slightly smiling.

She couldn’t help recalling Elias’s demanding call for medicine yesterday, and it seemed the two really got along well, knowing even these little details.

Yesterday for Cameron, Elias even questioned her, and now came early to bring breakfast.

Could it be...

Quinn’s gaze grew more ambiguous, a knowing smile forming at the corners of her lips.

If it was truly as she thought, it made sense for Elias to dislike Savannah bothering her, but it was bearable!

"Savannah, what’s wrong?"

Cameron called out, bringing Quinn back to reality, only to find Elias frowning at her, with a face that read ’I don’t like you.’

In the past, seeing such an expression would have made Quinn distance herself, fearing Elias would assume she was playing tricks again, but now...

Quinn blinked, pretending not to see, her gaze falling on the breakfast in Elias’s hand, smiling, "Nothing, Elias brought you breakfast, didn’t he? Hurry and sit, you must be hungry. Eat more, eat more, it’s brought specially for you!"

She warmly took the items and laid them on the table, filled a big bowl of porridge for Cameron.

Since Elias always thought she was up to mischief, she might as well create opportunities for Elias and Cameron, after all, Cameron was the one he truly cared for, maybe this act showed her true intentions?

Smartly considering this, Quinn even found a spot far from them to quietly eat, causing the two men to look inexplicably puzzled.

She wasn’t bothered, and simply started browsing her phone, she hadn’t checked in with her management company since waking, recalling she had an event to attend in the upcoming days. If Cameron was fine today, she intended to go back and check.

However, when Quinn opened X, a trending topic made her complexion change, spewing the porridge she just took a sip of!

’Entertainment actress Savannah Lowell suspected of using unscrupulous means to climb into the bed of a Sinclair Group executive; allegedly forced into hospital for an abortion upon discovery...’

What kind of headline is this!

Regardless of how the two men viewed her, Quinn instantly stood up, clicked on the trending content only to find a series of photos leaked of her leaving the hotel room disheveled, along with Elias cornering her in the hospital corridor yesterday afternoon!

Due to being secretly taken, the images were somewhat blurry but clearly identifiable; she was the female lead!

If she remembered correctly, the hotel in the photos seemed to be where Savannah tried to drug Elias earlier.

Back then, she intended to take advantage to make Elias hers, but unexpectedly, despite the situation, Elias refused to touch her and roughly threw her out of the room.

The photos were probably taken then, but the hospital pictures? That seemed a bit far-fetched!

"What’s wrong?" Cameron was startled by Quinn’s response, his sister seemed different since yesterday.

He walked to Quinn’s side, seeing the content on her phone, his handsome face first showed surprise, then complexly looked towards Elias.

Meanwhile, Elias’s phone rang as well, and he paced out of the room, shortly returning with a face darkened enough to drip ink.

He sneered at Quinn, "Savannah Lowell, so this is what you’re planning."
