CHAPTER 9: CHAPTER 9: KEEP IT UP

Quinn Lockwood frowned slightly, full of dissatisfaction with Elias Sinclair.

Hmph, no matter what trick you’re trying to sell, it’ll never work.

Elias moved his face closer intentionally, creating an ambiguous atmosphere. Just as their lips were about to touch, Quinn suddenly widened her eyes and instinctively drew her knees up in defense.

"You!"

"Ah!"

When Quinn opened her eyes again, she found herself lying on top of Elias, their posture extremely intimate, easy for anyone to misunderstand.

What on earth is going on?

"Hiss..."

Quinn winced in pain, murmuring softly. This man, is he a pig? How can he be so heavy!

Twice now, does he really think I’m his human cushion?

"Damn it!"

Elias’s face turned pale, an aura of menace emanating from him. When they fell, his knee hit the ground and was likely scraped, now burning with pain.

He had to admit, the position she took with her knees nearly kicked him in a very sensitive spot. Luckily, he managed to dodge just in time.

But due to getting up too quickly, his balance was off, causing him to fall backward and in the panic, grabbing onto her and bringing her down with him.

"Hey, do you have any conscience? How can you be shameless enough to let a woman be your cushion?"

Quinn rolled her eyes dramatically and tried to push Elias off to stand up.

Upon hearing this, Elias didn’t get up. This woman, who on earth gave her the courage to challenge his limits time and again?

"Savannah Lowell!" Elias forced the words through clenched teeth.

From childhood to adulthood, she was the first woman to call him shameless, and yet she was the one so obsessively clinging to him. Elias’s face darkened in an instant.

"Let me tell you, no matter what you do, all I feel for you is disgust. Stop wasting your efforts."

Quinn felt a twinge of awkwardness; every time she heard Elias say he didn’t like her, despised her, her heart would ache slightly.

She could feel Savannah’s deep love for him, but since Savannah had already ruined it for herself, she wouldn’t feel sad over these words.

"Well, that’s perfect. All I feel for you is disgust too."

After everything that’s happened these days, instinct told her that this man isn’t someone she could mess with.

She can’t provoke him, but she could avoid him, yet he doesn’t even give her that chance.

"Very well, keep it up."

Playing hard-to-get? Elias raised an eyebrow, his deep eyes revealing complexities that no one else could understand.

To him, Savannah was always unruly, with extreme thoughts, constantly embroiled in scandals. Each time his grandpa forced him to clean up her messes, to stabilize her emotions, he felt only more contempt and disdain.

Actually, with Savannah’s background and resources, she could totally make a name for herself as an independent woman in the entertainment industry.

Yet coddled from a young age, she developed a whole bunch of bad habits, unable even to understand how to conduct herself, doing everything solely by her own whims, never considering others.

In the film crew, she offended everyone thoroughly; at the Sinclair home, she would often lose her temper with the servants, causing them to grumble in complaint. Because of Elias, her relationship with her family deteriorated, making others both angry and pitiful towards her.

Now Elias’s attitude only made Quinn feel sorry for Savannah.

Going crazy for someone like this, even risking her life, is it really worth it?

"Oh dear, oh dear, carry on, I didn’t see anything."

Just as both were silent in confrontation, Grandpa Sinclair’s laughter suddenly interrupted the silence.

His heart was filled with satisfaction, unexpectedly seeing this scene right after coming back from the hospital. If he had known they got along so well, he wouldn’t even need to go to the hospital.

As long as the two of them are happy, his spirits would naturally be lifted.

"You two carry on, I won’t be a third wheel. Try to let me have a grandson soon, haha."

Grandpa Sinclair chuckled as he walked inside, thinking to himself, these two, why so impatient? Doing it at the front door is improper, no matter how eager they are, hold off until they’re home.

Both of them regained their senses, realizing Grandpa might have misunderstood.

"No, Grandpa, you misunderstood, it’s not what you saw." Grandpa Sinclair’s words made Quinn extremely embarrassed. She immediately pushed Elias away and stood up.

Hearing this, Grandpa Sinclair slowly turned around. Truth is, he knew that the two didn’t get along, but he had always liked this girl from the Lowell family.

Especially when she was young, with her cute little pigtails. Later, when she became infatuated with his grandson, wasn’t this a match made in heaven? Naturally, Grandpa Sinclair wanted to keep her by his side.

This was why, back then, despite Elias clearly not liking Savannah, he couldn’t refuse to marry her, nor could he divorce her easily.

"Savannah, what’s going on?"

Hearing Quinn’s slightly anxious tone, Grandpa Sinclair assumed it was his grandson bullying his granddaughter-in-law again.

"It’s like this, what you saw was not what you think. I wanted to move back home, but he wouldn’t let me. In the tussle, we accidentally fell, giving you a moment to laugh at us."

Quinn explained cleverly, rubbing her head as she spoke.

Although he wasn’t her biological grandpa, Savannah’s memories told her this grandpa was kind to her.

Since Quinn had never met her own grandpa, she felt an inexplicable sense of warmth towards Grandpa Sinclair.

Move back home? Grandpa Sinclair looked behind Quinn to see the mess left by the bodyguards.

"Savannah, why do you want to move back? Is it because this boy bullied you again?"

Grandpa Sinclair angrily pointed his cane at Elias, ready to scold Elias even before Quinn could respond.

"You brat, did you bully Savannah again? Didn’t I tell you, as a man, you have to be magnanimous? Savannah is just being playful, why take it seriously? If you dare bully Savannah again, watch me break your legs."

Elias, feeling unfairly reprimanded, was naturally displeased inside. He couldn’t help but admire Quinn’s acting skills; so this was the plot.

No wonder she kept arguing that she didn’t like him; she was putting on a show for grandpa, not him.

Savannah Lowell, you’re something else.

"Got it." Elias replied helplessly.

Watching his grandpa scold Elias, and seeing Elias dare not express any anger, Quinn felt a rare moment of satisfaction, forgetting who she was for a moment and making a goofy face at Elias.

So smug? Clearly, Elias became even more convinced that everything she did before was all an act.

His knee began to throb again, turning his knuckles white. Savannah Lowell, want to play? Fine, I’ll play with you.
