CHAPTER 585: CHAPTER 587: DRUNK

Xu Nian’an always had the feeling that his little sister was being taken away, so he kept drinking with Pei Yicheng.

Pei Yicheng didn’t refuse at all, whenever Xu Nian’an offered a drink, he accepted every drop.

"Nianhua, Pei Yicheng can really hold his liquor," Fei Jiayi said quietly sitting next to Xu Nianhua, while Xu Nian’an was trying to get Pei Yicheng drunk, but it was Xu Nian’an who was getting drunk instead.

"I guess he can," Xu Nianhua said uncertainly as she looked at Pei Yicheng, whose expression hadn’t changed at all; his face hadn’t even flushed, but the eyes that looked at her deepened, and his gaze became more intense.

"Jiayi, the English competition is coming up soon, are you participating?" Xu Nianhua changed the subject, as every time Pei Yicheng’s gaze made her feel disconcerted, she felt like she was no longer herself.

"Of course, I am. It’s such a good opportunity to improve myself, I can’t miss it," Fei Jiayi said without hesitation. "Not just me, everyone in our dorm plans to participate. How about you? You won’t miss it, right?"

"I’ll give it a try."

Xu Nianhua actually also wanted to participate in such activities, to practice her skills and to let professional judges spot her weaknesses.

"Then let’s participate together, I hope all of us from Room 302 can make it into the finals," Fei Jiayi said with a smile, proud of the progress their English skills had made after half a semester’s hard work.

Practicing speaking in the dorm and using spare moments to memorize vocabulary certainly improved their grades.

"We will," Xu Nianhua said confidently, knowing that when there were many people together, chatting made the time fly. She noticed the usually shy Cai Shuxue chatting with Chang Hui.

Xu Nianhua’s eyes twinkled, but she didn’t say much more, as fate was something no one could predict.

Night.

Ling Dong drove, dropping all the classmates back at their dorms, while Pei Yicheng and Xu Nianhua took another car back to the house on Jilly Road, with Xu Nian’an drunkenly slumped in the back seat.

"Second brother, we’re here," Xu Nianhua said as she got out of the car, trying to help Xu Nian’an.

"I’m not drunk."

Xu Nian’an mumbled, turned over, and planned to continue sleeping.

Xu Nianhua: "..."

Drunk people always say they’re not drunk. Had her second brother mistaken the car for a bed?

"I’ve got this."

Pei Yicheng got out of the car, helped Xu Nian’an out, and carried him all the way back to his room, with Xu Nian’an muttering incoherently the entire way without waking up.

"Second brother, you’re drunk. You wouldn’t even know if someone sold you," Xu Nianhua said as she took off Xu Nian’an’s shoes and jacket. "You really shouldn’t drink alone."

Xu Nian’an lay on the bed, letting Xu Nianhua undress him, very quiet.

Xu Nianhua shook her head helplessly, tenderly closed the door for him, and then turned to Pei Yicheng, "How about you?"

"What do you think?" Pei Yicheng moved closer, the faint smell of alcohol coming off him mixed with his own scent, which wasn’t unpleasant.

"You’re drunk," Xu Nianhua’s heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively stepped back.

But Pei Yicheng gave her no room to retreat, stretching out his long arm to encircle her slender waist, even through the coat, Xu Nianhua could still feel the strength and warmth of his hand.

"It’s getting late, I need to sleep," Xu Nianhua lowered her eyes, her cheeks flushed with red, feeling like a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl every time she was in front of him, her heart fluttering and racing.
