"Eat up!" Wang Shufenughed. "Han Dong, you eat too."

"Of course I have to eat. I’m starving, not going to be polite with you guys." Han Dongughed as he grabbed the bun from Gu Junming’s hand and started to eat it in big bites.

Gu Junming red at him, "You brat, can’t you get it yourself?"

Han Dong justughed, pretending not to hear.

Gu Junming smacked him on the head, sighed helplessly, and got up to grab food.

Sun Chan saw the fried chicken and said sheepishly, "I was just casually mentioning it. You went all the way to get it for me?"

"It wasn’t me, it was Gu Junming who bought it. He said you wanted to eat it before exams, so he got it for you." Wang Shufenughed, putting the chopsticks down.

Sun Chan looked at Gu Junming, who said, "Just a convenient task! Eat up."

"Mm." Sun Chan nibbled on the fried chicken, thinking to herself, the ce selling fried chicken is so far away, Gu Junming keptpany with me during exams, how could it be convenient? He must have gone specially.

Just a casual mention from her, yet he took it seriously, Sun Chan was deeply moved.

Gu Junming didn’t care about her expression, and while eating, said to Han Dong, "Sun Chan is going to start designing drafts, but the weather is so hot it would be unbearable, should we get a fan?"

"Well, I have an old one at home, no need to buy, I’ll bring it over. But with so many people here, isn’t it a bit chaotic?" Han Dong said as he continued to eat heartily.

He had been traveling outside, mostly eating greasy and tasteless food at joints, finally having some homemade food made him deliriously happy.

Sun Chan chuckled, every time Han Dong came over to eat, he acted like he was escaping a famine.

Wang Shufen worriedly said, "It’s not just the heat, soon Ding Kang will be back. I take him to Guihua’s fruit stand during the day, but what if it gets too noisy when he returns at night?" If it was just her, she could cope by staying at a hotel for a few days, but Kangkang wasing too. Would Guihua be happy?

"It’s no problem." Sun Chan quickly waved her hand. "Ding Kang is quite understanding; no need to hide away. He can stay here just fine."

Gu Junming munched thoughtfully and then said, "How about this, I’ll take Kangkang to stay at the barracks for a couple of days. He can experience the atmosphere there."

Wang Shufen was delighted, "Really? He’s been wanting to go for ages. Won’t it disrupt your work?"

"It won’t." Gu Junming waved his hand. "There’s not much going on now, he can learn a thing or two."

Wang Shufen hurriedly said, "That would be wonderful, then I can stay at Guihua’s and Sun Chan won’t be disturbed."

"How could that be alright, I’m really fine, you know." Sun Chan felt awkward with everyone making way for her workload.

"Making money is important. Let’s do that." Han Dongughed, "I think Yang Zhen has great ideas; you should have here help out with some feedback. Also, Yang Liu is pretty good with needlework; I’ll bring them over and pay them when the timees."

Yang Zhen’s clothing designs were quite good; Han Dong had brought a couple to show during his business trip, but unfortunately, foreign bosses weren’t impressed. Still, Han Dong felt proud of their work. Yang Liu, though, didn’t have the mindset for it, but she could tag along for errands. They chatted away while eating. Han Dong, that night, slept with Gu Junming on the sofa in the living room.

With the windows on both sides open, and screens keeping bugs out, the cross-venttion was wonderfully cooling.

Sun Chan shared a room with Wang Shufen, but she hardly slept, instead sitting by a smallmp sketching clothes she visualized from her past life.

She made some edits to previous designs and grabbed a nk sheet to sketch new clothing styles. Wang Shufen woke several times overnight to see her working, feeling a touch of heartbreak.

Though the young girl had found her parents, she never thought of relying on them, always striving on her own.

Such a sensible child, yet neither her father nor sister appreciated her goodness. Wang Shufen sighed internally, how could they not see Sun Chan’s worth? She was determined to treat her future sister-inw well.

Starting the next day, Wang Shufen began staying at Guihua’s inn. Originally, she nned to stay at her own fruit shop, but Guihua insisted she take a room inside.

"If there’s really nowhere else, you could make do there, but I have space here. Why stay over there in the heat? Listen to me and settle in. Notcking for a room here!"

Wang Shufen had no choice but to agree. Guihua was frank; if you kept refusing, she’d think you didn’t treat her as a friend.

Gu Junming returned home with Han Dong the next day, bringing back a fan and arge desk. Its purple-red color was quite stunning, looking like something from amanding office.

Gu Junming and Han Dong moved it in together.

Han Dong was not used to such strenuous tasks, forehead veins bulging. He panted, "I’m worn out. Where should we put it? How about here?"

"Put it inside. The bedroom is too cramped, so ce it in the outer room. By the wall is coolest," Gu Junming directed, guiding Han Dong to move it to the designated spot.

Sun Chan, engrossed in her drawing, rushed out upon hearing themotion, "What’s this?"

Gu Junming replied, "I swiped it from Han Dong’s ce."

"How can that be? It’s their stuff! Hurry and return it!"

Han Dong chuckled, "It’s fine. It was discarded from my mom’s office, then given to me for studying. I mean, do I look like the study type? It’s been unused for years at our ce, so it’s yours now. Use it as much as you want."

"But this desk would be perfect in an office?" Sun Chan admired the desk but felt it was a waste for her use.

Han Dong said, "The drawer below has issues and doesn’t open fully. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been discarded. My office desk’s new and better than this. Just use it for your work without worry!"

Only then did Sun Chan rx, "Is it really okay with your mom?"

"No issues! Mom knows it’s for serious work; she’s generous about it."

Han Dong’s parents couldn’t really control their son and settled on one wish only: as long as he’s healthy, even losing everything wouldn’t matter. Secretly, they hoped he’d lose it all quickly and return to the right path. Otherwise, if his career boomed, who knows when they’d see him married with kids?

Additionally, Han Dong’s mom was happy hearing the desk was given to a girl. Was there something going on?

    Thus, there was no opposition.

Their lunch was there too, but not cooked by Sun Chan — it was made by Gu Junming. He didn’t prepare anything fancy: stir-fried beans, plus a big pot of steamed rice, shared among the three of them.
