Rebirth Swapped Bride: Married to a Ruthless Cursed billionaire Book2
Chapter 38: Fighting
CHAPTER 38: FIGHTING
By the time Beauty finished dawdling in her room, Lucas and Laura had already seated themselves at the dining table.
The moment the servants saw her, dishes were promptly served from the kitchen.
A table full of delicacies, many of which she had never seen before, but looking at this sumptuous feast, her appetite was nowhere to be found.
Thoughts of her grandfather’s home with its simple snacks and homely meals caused a slight souring sensation in her nose.
"What a princess, is it necessary for someone to carry you down in a palanquin just to have a meal?"
Laura cast a glance at Beauty’s attire and turned up her nose, extremely disdainful.
She was completely different from the pitiful little princess who was crying before the old man previously.
Beauty simply glanced at her without a word, sitting down slowly only after a maid at the side pulled out a chair for her.
Being abandoned time and again by her family since childhood, she had long become accustomed to the cold eyes of others, and she understood the principle of swallowing one’s pride when relying on others.
When her contract was up, she would undoubtedly move out of here without hesitation.
"Laura, didn’t our parents teach you not to talk while eating?"
Lucas spoke coldly, without even lifting an eyelid.
Beauty’s gaze lightly moved to his face; he was currently bowing his head to serve soup to Laura.
His facial features appeared especially gentle, yet both of his brows were still furrowed tightly.
It seemed as though both of them had forgotten the little incident that just occurred.
Lucas didn’t bring it up, and, of course, she needed to act as if nothing had happened.
Only the gaze he gave before leaving would occasionally linger in her mind.
It wasn’t until he said, "Beauty, from now on, Favor will be studying with you in this city.
I’ve had the butler enroll you both in the best school in the city.
You and Favor will be classmates."
Saying so, he lifted his eyes to glance at her casually.
His gaze was mixed with a slight sense of caring and love.
But it was fleeting, and he quickly resumed his cold demeanor and continued eating.
At night, Beauty sat on the sofa in her room, staring blankly at her new room and furnishings.
Her eyes were slightly rimmed with red, but there were no tears.
She took out her grandfather’s photo from her bag stealthily and used a rag to wipe it over and over again.
Suddenly, the door of the room was twisted open from outside, and Laura, dressed in a white nightdress, walked in arrogantly.
She looked at her room displeasingly.
"Your room really is shabby.
You should come to my room and see!
The unique princess room my brother has decorated for me.
And your room. So small, my brother obviously doesn’t like you."
Beauty looked around with bright almond eyes, an arrogant look on her face.
"Do you realize this is my room?
Then, may I ask, Miss, didn’t your parents teach you to knock before entering someone’s room?"
Laura’s stubbornly lifted her chin, her face cold.
"This is my brother’s house, and I’m his sister!
Everything here belongs to us Marson.
As the owner, do I need to knock before entering your dog room?
You really think too highly of yourself!
You’re nothing but an unwanted mutt!"
Laura’s words had barely left her lips when she was grabbed by the hair by Beauty.
With a cold glance she said, "Who are you calling an Unwanted mutt?
The person who is to raised me is your brother, not you!
I didn’t eat a bite of your food, what gives you the right to posture here?"
Girls hate to be grabbed by the hair, and Laura, who cherished her hair as if it were her life, became both angry and anxious when Beauty tugged at it.
A slap landed on Beauty’s face and the two immediately began to grapple with each other.
"Boss!
Miss Laura is fighting with Miss Beauty."
Upon hearing the commotion, the servant did not know how to intervene, and immediately sought out Lucas in the study, his face ghostly white.
When Lucas walked in, he saw Beauty and Laura in the middle of a heated fight.
After all, being pampered since her childhood, nobody ever dared to bully Laura.
Comparing her physical strength and savagery, she was clearly no match for
Beauty, who grew up amongst lads and was used to fighting.
Beauty was sitting astride Laura, grabbing at her hair as if she wanted to rip it right off her scalp.
Whereas Laura, was scratching Beauty’s face fiercely, their bodies entwined in the struggle.
The moment the room door burst open, both girls froze.
Beauty turned towards Lucas with a startle, her eyes filled with surprise.
However, her eyes were resolute, without a trace of regret for what she had done.
Upon seeing her brother, Laura instantaneously switched from a defeated fighting cock to a pitiful little rabbit.
She cried out immediately.
Beauty glanced at her, coldly saying, "Always playing the victim!"
As she unfolded her long legs, rising from the floor, her gaze fell upon Lucas, still indifferent.
Their eyes met, none of them backing down.
A pair of eyes, sparkled like stars were watching him impassively, as if waiting for his judgement.
While Marson family has been kind to her, the thing she detested most since she was a kid was anyone calling her hurtful words.
Even if Lucas would drive her out this time, she would not back down!
"Brother... This bastard beat me, she even pulled my hair.
Waaa... Brother, can you drive her out?
I don’t like her!"
Laura cried, tearful and beautiful, her almond-shaped eyes swollen from tears, pulling at Lucas’s sleeve to coax her.
She glared fiercely at Beauty one more time, not forgetting to add spite to her expression.
"Who are you calling a wild bastard!
If I leave, I leave.
Who cares about this ramshackle place!"
Beauty stepped forward, about to pull at Laura’s arm.
Seeing Beauty about to lay hands on her again, she immediately shrieked and hid behind Lucas, sticking her tongue out and making faces at her disdainfully.
Lucas didn’t say anything, nor did he pay attention to Laura behind him, his gaze lightly fell on Beauty’s face.
After two seconds, he abruptly pulled her by the collar, stating coldly, "Miss, you said that this place is a shithole?"
His voice was icy, chilling her to the bone, causing her slender body to shiver uncontrollably.
Despite her fear, she straightened up, puffed out her thin body: "I couldn’t care less about your home, if it weren’t for grandpa making me follow you, I wouldn’t want to be with you anymore."
As Beauty spoke, she lifted her delicate chin, her black eyes unwavering as they stared at him.
Her hand clenched her skirt tightly, her face slightly pale, the base of her ears burning hot.
Despite the fear, she still pretended to fear nothing and no one!
No matter how afraid she was of being abandoned again, she bit her teeth tightly and refused to apologise.
Lucas’s icy eyes narrowed slightly, the corner of his mouth twitching with an almost imperceptible smile, he bent his body down to the same height as Beauty.
He pinched her chin, indifferent to whether she was in pain and grimacing.
He said coldly: "Didn’t you say you didn’t like this shabby place and wanted to leave?
It’s not that easy to come, and it’s even harder to leave!
Starting tomorrow, I will have the butler hire a family etiquette teacher for you, to change the wild, rebellious, and stubborn airs about you, so that you can become a true proper lady, so as not to make me lose face in public."
"I won’t change!
I don’t want to be a real lady!
I just want to be myself!
I am not a lady, I am a wild tomboy, I don’t want to be a spoiled princess like her."
While speaking, Beauty pointed at Laura, her small face was infuriatingly red and puffy.
