CHAPTER 61: SARAH, BEAUTY NEEDS YOUR HELP
"What are you up to, Drake?
If you’ve got nothing better to do, why not go have a drink with some girls?
Isn’t your circle crowded with beauties?"
Sarah pulled her wrist from his grasp, her flushed cheeks angrily glaring at Drake, with her lips firmly pursed.
"It’s not me seeking you out.
It’s Beauty who’s looking for you.
She looks quite upset, right outside the ladies’ restroom, go check on her."
A chill spread across Drake’s face.
He backed up several steps, intentionally maintaining a distance from her.
He still remembered the night when Sarah, in a fit of despair, asked him to stay at least five steps away from her at all times.
Now, they were exactly five steps apart.
He could only observe from afar, her petite face rosy from the effects of alcohol.
"Thank you."
Sarah bowed her head in thanks and, teetering on her ten-centimeter heels, sprinted off towards the ladies’ restroom.
Her feet appeared to have sprouted wings, eager to flee this place and this man.
Beauty leaned against the white wall, her face as pale as a sheet, both hands clenched tightly into fists.
It wasn’t until Sarah pushed open the door that she, looking like she’s just seen her savior, managed to steady herself against the wall and stand.
For some reason, she felt a sense of familiarity the first time she met Sarah.
Perhaps this was the charm that Sarah exuded.
This made her uncontrollably drawn towards her, attracted to her.
She knew that in this banquet hall, only she was willing to help her out and that only she was someone she could rely on.
"Beauty, are you alright?"
Sarah came forward to steady her, reaching out to touch her forehead, which was blazing hot.
Her face was also slightly flushed.
Beauty managed to squeeze out a brilliant smile, pulling on Sarah’s arm, "Sarah, I’ve started my period, I don’t know anyone here and I followed uncle... Marson into the building without an invitation, I presume I won’t be able to enter again once I leave, and there are no sanitary pads at the hotel reception, could you please help me..."
"I have one, just wait, I have one in my bag; seems like both of us share the same plight, my misfortune also came today."
As Sarah spoke, she winked at Beauty, then turned and hurried towards the changing rooms. In less than ten minutes, she handed the pink life-saving item to Beauty.
The Imperial Grand Hotel is the largest hotel in the city and also a subsidiary of the Marson’s Group.
Sarah was close friends with the manager here, and quickly obtained some brown sugar specifically for women from him, making Beauty a hot drink.
"Thank you!
Ms Sarah, have some as well!
You must’ve had quite some alcohol today, you need to take care of your health too, don’t push yourself too hard."
The two women were very close and Beauty could smell the strong scent of whiskey on Sarah’s breath, it was almost overpowering.
She suddenly grabbed her hand and said.
The smile gradually faded from Sarah’s face, her hand tightly gripping the glass.
She sighed deeply, "When men can’t be relied upon, we women have to carve out a place for ourselves.
Beauty, I think highly of you, you will definitely excel in the future.
Although Lucas may seem to be cold-blooded and a bit sarcastic sometimes, he actually has a kind heart.
Once you get to know him, you will understand what type of person he truly is."
"Does he just seem to be cold-blooded?
He’s clearly unsympathetic, literally a freak!"
"Is that so?
Is that how I appear to you in your eyes?"
A cold voice rang out, causing Beauty’s face to change drastically.
The glass in her hand slipped from her fingers, shattering with a ’bang’ on the ground, scattering redness over the floor.
Her face, originally pale, was now even more colorless
. Her apricot eyes spinning around, remaining silent.
"You... how did you get here?"
Beauty tilted her chin up a little, not daring to look into his pair of jet-black cold pupils.
Lucas walked closer, putting his hand in his pocket and tilting his head slightly to observe her.
"I thought the lady I brought had run away!
I couldn’t find her anywhere in the meeting hall.
If it wasn’t for Drake saying that he had seen you, I guess I would have had to turn this hotel upside down."
Beauty couldn’t help but step backwards a few times, wanting to put some distance between herself and him.
After all, his aura was too intense, making it hard for her to breathe.
"Lucas, don’t scare her like that.
She’s still a young girl.
Look, you’ve frightened her into breaking out in a cold sweat," Sarah broke the awkwardness with a smile.
She went over to lend Beauty her shoulder, looking at the two men who were as threatening as wolves and tigers.
Originally her body was cold, but once Sarah’s fingers touched her shoulders, she immediately felt a hint of warmth, and the pain in her stomach wasn’t so bad now.
After all, Sarah was Lucas’s employee.
She wouldn’t want her issue to affect the relationship between them.
"Don’t forget what this mission is all about?
I didn’t bring you here today just for you to stay in the dressing room drinking brown sugar water with Sarah."
Each word was so cold that it sent shivers down Beauty, causing her to tremble.
She clenched her fist: "I know what my mission today is.
Now I’m ready.
As Marson’s companion, naturally, my job is to accompany him in proposing toasts to those business moguls."
"But won’t it be better to let Beauty rest if she’s not feeling well?"
Sarah gripped Beauty’s arm, her eyes looking at Lucas with a trace of expectation while holding a gentle smile on her face.
"She should know why I brought her out today and if she feels unwell, then she can go home and rest."
Although it seemed like he was letting her go home, everyone would realize his real intention from his tone.
Sarah exchanged a glance with Beauty, secretly hinting her to take the hint and return home.
However, Beauty looked at Lucas unconcerned with a poker face, "I’m okay now.
Mr.Lucas, what are your orders?"
