CHAPTER 461: THE ARRIVAL OF STEPHEN MEGA

In just a matter of days, the Mega Group’s financial fortunes began collapsing with unstoppable momentum, like a house of cards in a hurricane.

This clearly illustrates the truth: Building a prosperous empire may take decades or even longer, yet its downfall can unfold in mere hours.

The Mega family was like a puppet in the grip of an invisible hand, being pushed step by step toward the abyss.

"Madam, sir—"

A panicked attendant rushed in, his face pale.

"Reporters and media crews have swarmed the estate, blocking every gate.

They refuse to leave no matter what we say."

Those vultures, always circling for blood!

Mr Mega’s eyes flickered with unease as he turned to the family matriarch, his voice tense.

"Mother, what do we do now?!" Grandma Mega didn’t answer.

Slumped in her chair, her once-straight posture now sagged like a withered tree.

Her lips moved faintly as she muttered to herself, her voice barely audible.

"Who... who is behind this?

Who would dare move against the Mega family...?"

The formidable woman who had once commanded respect now looked a decade older, her vigor drained away.

The others in the room pressed their lips shut, not daring to utter a word.

The lounge was engulfed in a suffocating silence—thick, heavy, and utterly lifeless.

At that very moment, footsteps echoed through the room. "How could this happen?"

A mellow voice laced with faint amusement drifted in from outside the door.

"Shouldn’t you be asking yourself that question?"

Every head turned toward the source of the voice.

Stephen was wheeled into the room in his wheelchair.

His unusually pale face bore an undisguised smirk of derision.

After much deliberation, he simply couldn’t resist witnessing this most dramatic moment in person.

His arrival seemed to be the final straw for the Mega family matriarch.

Her eyes narrowed sharply, her complexion shifting from icy displeasure to ashen pallor.

Before the old woman could speak, Mr. Mega stormed forward, stopping just two paces from Stephen’s wheelchair.

"What are you doing here?"

All pretense of civility had vanished from his demeanor now.

"What am I doing here?"

Stephen’s gaze swept leisurely across the assembled crowd before settling on Mr Megas face.

His deep voice carried an unmistakable note of languid mockery.

"Just here to witness the downfall of the Mega family," Stephen leaned back casually in his wheelchair, a smirk playing on his lips.

"This is a show I’ve been waiting for a long time."

"You—" Mr. Mega bristled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, his face contorting with rage as he lunged forward to grab Stephen by the collar.

Stephen didn’t flinch.

Mr. Mega remained motionless in his wheelchair, his expression unreadable, not even blinking as Mr. Mega’s hand shot toward him.

Just inches from his collar, a large, powerful hand clamped around Mr. Mega’s wrist, stopping him dead in his tracks.

The grip was so crushing that Mr. Mega winced in pain.

Mr. Mega glared at the man standing behind Stephen and snarled, "Let go of me!

Who the hell do you think you are, daring to lay a hand on— Aaah!!"

His words dissolved into a scream of agony. With a brutal twist, the man snapped Mr. Mega’s wrist is like a dry twig.

*Crack—*

The sickening sound of bone breaking echoed through the room.

Mr. Mega’s hand hung limp, useless.

"Aaah!!" Decades of pampered luxury had left him unprepared for such pain.

Mr. Mega howled, his face twisted in torment. Watching the hand that had just struck her now being broken, Madam Mega felt no satisfaction whatsoever.

That woman Camilla deserved to die, but Stephen deserved it even more.

Antonio’s death was on his hands too. Martin swallowed nervously, subtly taking two steps back.

"Stephen!!"

Breaking Mr Mega’s arm right in the Mega residence was no different from slapping the Grandma Mega across the face in public.

Her brows furrowed as she glared at the two bodyguards standing beside Madam Mega, her voice dripping with frost.

"What are you just standing there for?"

"Yes, ma’am."

Only then did the two bodyguards snap into action, striding aggressively toward the man behind Stephen.

Stephen, however, never took his mocking gaze off Grandma Mega.

The cold-faced young man behind him stepped forward without hesitation.

Though both sides were bodyguards, the difference in skill was stark.

Within minutes, the two bodyguards from the main house were howling on the ground, unable to even stand.

"Stephen!"

Grandma Mega’s face darkened further, her eyes glinting with malice.

"This is the Mega residence," she hissed, her voice dripping with venom.

"Aren’t you afraid you won’t walk out of here alive?"

Now that all pretense of civility had been stripped away, there was no need for restraint.

"Afraid? Of course I am."

Stephen watched as the old woman’s brows relaxed slightly, his own pale lips curling into a sharper, colder smirk.

"Did you really think I’d say that?"

As grandma Mega’s expression twisted in shock, he narrowed his eyes and spoke slowly, each word deliberate and razor-sharp.

"Yes, this is the Mega residence.

But which *Mega* it belongs to—that’s still up for debate."

What was this bastard implying?

The certainty in his tone sent a ripple of unease through her.

Her grip tightened around the prayer beads in her hand, her face darkening like a storm cloud.

She turned toward the door and barked, "Guards!"

Silence.

Not a single soul stirred outside. Her knuckles whitened around the beads, fury boiling beneath her skin.

"You little bastard," she spat.

"What have you done?"

"If I’m a bastard, then what does that make Mr. Mega? Stephen curled his lips in a mocking smirk.

"Auntie, have you sat in the old lady’s seat for so long that you’ve forgotten how you got it in the first place?"

Everyone knew Stephen was an illegitimate child, but no one knew that his mother had been the one originally engaged to that old bastard.

This woman standing before him—once his mother’s closest friend—had let jealousy consume her.

She sabotaged his mother’s marriage to the Mega family, causing her to lose the unborn child and driving a wedge between her and that man.

Seizing the opportunity, she had slithered into the old man’s bed, conceived Mr. Mega, and stolen the title of Madam Mega.

Years later, the old man seemed to have uncovered the truth.

Grandpa went back for Stephen’s mother, forcibly bringing her from New York to E Country, keeping her under his control—until she gave birth to him.

To protect his mother, Stephen had worked harder than anyone.

But the moment he gained the strength to stand on his own, this venomous woman had taken his mother’s life and left him half-paralyzed.

At the memory, an unfathomable chill darkened Stephen’s eyes.

"As for what I’ve done... you’ll find out soon enough."

Grandma Mega’s breathing grew labored, like the wheezing of a broken bellows.

"Was it you... behind everything at Mega Corporation?"

Her voice was hoarse when she spoke again.

"You overestimate me," Stephen stared coldly at the Grandma Mega, taking perverse pleasure in twisting the knife deeper into her heart.

"It was Sinclair who backed the Mega family into a corner." Sinclair?!

Mr. Mega and Madam Mega’s pupils constricted violently.

Grandma’s body stiffened as if struck by lightning, her clouded eyes widening in shock.

"H-he..."

"Want to ask why he’d do such a thing?"

Stephen narrowed his eyes, his lips pressing into a thin, humorless line.

"Because that grandson you’re so proud of, and that daughter-in-law you’ve always despised, dared lay hands on the woman he treasures above all else."

His voice was icy, laced with unmistakable schadenfreude.

"From the very beginning, he never intended to let a single member of the Mega family walk away unscathed."
