CHAPTER 346: CHAPTER 131: SU ZICENG’S LITTLE SCHEMES
A week later, on the day of the inventory check at Subi Auction House, Yan Wuxu personally oversaw the process. After listening to the inventory staff report all the items, she asked, "How much money is left in the account?"
"There’s 330,000 left," reported the newly appointed manager of Subi Auction House.
"330,000?" Yan Wuxu found it hard to believe that Subi, after operating for more than half a year, would only have such a small amount of profit when it should have been at least fifty to sixty million.
"That’s all we have," said the manager as he flipped through the accounts and started listing the expenses one by one.
"What is this expenditure about?" Yan Wuxu pointed at an expense totaling over three million, which was transferred out just five days prior.
"That was an expenditure made by the young Miss," the manager said, his voice low as he glanced at the changed expression on Yan Wuxu’s face.
"Who allowed her to withdraw money at will? I’m the one who calls the shots at Subi," Yan Wuxu took out her phone, furious and ready to call Su Ziceng and demand the money be returned in full.
"Nobody allowed it, part of that money was used to cover the wages and allowances of the staff who came to help during that period, as well as the invitation fee for the deputy director of the National Museum, and a significant portion was the difference in handling fees." The agreed handling fee with Director Luo was originally eight percent, which was changed later on, resulting in the differences being added to the expense.
Wages, invitation fees, and handling fee differences – what kind of miscellaneous expenses were these? Yet every one of these expenses was substantiated and free from fault on a financial level.
"And what’s with this expense?" Yan Huxu put down her phone, pointing at an expenditure totaling half a million.
"That was the travel expenses for the young Miss’s trip to Japan, over a month," the manager glanced at it as well.
"Over a month, more than half a million, this is simply... Su Ziceng." Words failed Yan Wuxu as she seethed with anger, her teeth nearly piercing her lips when she saw the nearly emptied account. She was determined to have Su Ziceng settle this debt eventually.
As soon as Yan Wuxu learned that the account had been emptied, she immediately rushed to the Su Family. Su Ziceng used her privileges as the young Miss to drain the account in one go – no matter, wool comes from the sheep itself, she thought, she would just ask Su Qingzhang to reimburse it.
Without waiting for the reception to announce her, Yan Wuxu strode directly to Su Qingzhang’s office, but was intercepted by Chang Mei right at the door.
"Move aside, I need to see Qingzhang, Subi Auction House needs another fund allocation," Yan Wuxu made to push past Chang Mei.
"There’s no need for further funds. As far as I know, Subi Auction House currently has auction items worth at least fifty million. Just one more auction, and there will be enough money." Chang Mei motioned to the secretary by her side to escort Yan Wuxu out.
"Chang Mei, what right do you have to block me," Yan Wuxu also refused to back down, her personal secretary scuffling with the other as she glared with indignation.
"I have to tell you, the Su Family isn’t an endless pit, it can’t withstand this kind of messing about," Chang Mei was also losing patience. Recently, complaints have been coming in from the Su Family, from people in the kitchen, to those in the garden, all discussing Yan Wuxu’s transgressions which she had been enduring. And now, Yan Wuxu had the nerve to make a scene at the Su Family itself.
"What’s going on?" Su Qingzhang and Pello walked out from the finance room; they had been examining the second quarter financial reports.
Clearly irritated by the disturbance, Su Qingzhang was losing his patience.
"Qing Chang," Yang Wuxu lamented the situation with Su Bi and Chang Mei’s obstruction, all the while cursing Chang Mei in her heart.
After hearing her exaggerated tale, Chang Mei’s complexion turned ashen with rage, and she itched to slap Yang Wuxu several times.
Having heard the whole story, Su Qingzhang also had a clear grasp of the situation. What he detested most was bringing family issues into the company.
"Wuxu is still young, why are you getting involved with her," Su Qingzhang internally reviewed the situation, thinking that Yang Wuxu had just made a significant contribution to the Su Family, so he decided to go along with her for now.
"Fine, I’ll stay out of it, and when the family’s turned upside down, it’s all going to be too late," Chang Mei thought. She had truly underestimated Yang Wuxu. Now, both father and daughter of the Su Family were siding with her, plus that infant who cried incessantly every night – all of this was unbearable for Chang Mei.
Having said that, Chang Mei stormed off. Pello glanced at Su Qingzhang and the smug Yang Wuxu and simply said, "Chairman, I’ll go downstairs to organize the documents and report back to you later."
"Why come here instead of taking care of the child," Su Qingzhang asked once everyone had left, then he and Yang Wuxu entered the office together.
Seeing his furrowed brows, as he sat in his chair looking exhausted, Yang Wuxu obediently approached him and silently began pressing around his temples with her hands.
The strength from her fingers was moderate and unhurried, which was very comforting to Su Qingzhang.
"When did you learn this?" Su Qingzhang inhaled the faint fragrance coming from behind, and felt the softness of her chest brushing against his cheeks, which made him relax completely.
Her hands then moved along his neck, shoulders, spine, and down the sides of his legs.
"Seeing you often complain about back pain, and Secretary Chang is always too busy, it’s better for me to learn – it’s more adroit," Yang Wuxu took off her coat, sat on Su Qingzhang’s lap, and carefully slipped her hands under his clothes.
"You really do care about me," Su Qingzhang’s irritation faded as he was teased by her, and seeing the sweet smiling lady before him, he couldn’t help but press her down onto the office desk.
An hour later, Yang Wuxu left the office. Before leaving, she deliberately stood outside Chang Mei’s office and made a call to the manager of Subi Auction House using the office phone, loudly stating, "No need to worry, the five million in cash will be transferred into the account this afternoon."
Chang Mei, who remained in her office, saw all of Yang Wuxu’s provocative behavior outside. Furious, she swept the documents off her desk, causing water to splash onto her ankles, scalding and painful.
The phone rang piercingly. "Hello?" Even upon hearing Chang Chi’s voice, Chang Mei’s tone didn’t soften.
"Mom!" Chang Chi’s voice was heavy with tears, and behind her, the wail of an ambulance was heard.
"Xiao Chi, what happened?" Chang Mei asked in a panic, worrying something had happened to Xiao Chi.
"It’s not me, it’s Dad, Dad had an accident," her voice was intermittent amidst the noisy crowd and the ambulance siren.
"What? What happened to Qing Chang?" Chang Mei blurted out. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, you are welcome to vote for it with a recommendation ticket or monthly ticket at Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation.)
