CHAPTER 497: CHAPTER 204: THE SU FAMILY DEFENSIVE BATTLE (PART 2)
"I’m out of money," Su Ziceng pressed the call button forcefully again.
"How can you be out of money? There’s the Su Family’s money and your jewelry," Yan Wuxu’s hand reached for Su Ziceng’s neck, and the sharp edge of her nail gleamed threateningly.
"If you want money, you could just ask Fei Qing for it. Why come crying to me about being poor? The Su Family has already given you more than enough," Su Ziceng pushed her hand away, leaving a red mark on her neck from Yan Wuxu’s long nails.
"I... you," Yan Wuxu was about to explode, but a nurse had already walked in. Su Ziceng didn’t look at her any longer and turned to walk out.
"Bitch," Yan Wuxu cursed under her breath; she didn’t believe that Su Ziceng could dominate the Su Family for a lifetime.
"Miss Su, your father’s health..." The intern nurse didn’t know that Yan Wuxu was Su Qingzhang’s wife and thought she was the young daughter of Su Qingzhang because of her young appearance.
"Are you blind? If I were Miss Su, would I have to endure being scolded by that bitch?" Yan Wuxu rebuked angrily; it truly was an unsatisfactory day—her plan to get money from Mr. Fei through Fei Qing was thwarted, and she couldn’t get any benefits from Su Ziceng either.
If she were Su Ziceng, she could inherit everything from the Su Family. Now, look what’s happened: her child is "still too young," that old man is barely hanging on to life, leaving everyone exhausted and on edge.
"Sorry, Mrs... Su," the intern nurse quickly apologized, not daring to offend Yan Wuxu any further, hurriedly went to the IV stand and adjusted the drip rate of the infusion.
Yan Wuxu paced around the hospital room several times, watching the young nurse busying herself.
"When will he actually wake up?" Yan Wuxu was only hoping that Su Qingzhang would either die or wake up; with Secretary Wang dead, they couldn’t continue investigating the child’s matter for the time being.
"It’s hard to say; we can only rely on these nutritional fluids for support," the intern nurse didn’t dare give a direct answer. These rich people could easily make her lose her job with a simple complaint to the hospital.
"Rely on this stuff?" Yan Wuxu paused in her speech. Since Su Ziceng refused to agree to a will, then she would have to force one out of him.
By the time she left the police station, it was already past eight o’clock. After dropping Su Ziceng at the Wine Shop, Pello didn’t just leave but accompanied the deeply preoccupied Su Ziceng for a walk along the road.
Under the streetlights, the lush leaves rustled softly in the wind. The two walking along were silent.
"Ziceng," Pello stopped and watched Su Ziceng continue walking forward, with her slender legs casting long shadows on the road.
"Hmm?" Su Ziceng responded, her mind still rehearsing the arguments Chen Jiachun had taught her for court that day. She needed to stay calm, no matter what kind of sudden situation she faced.
"No matter what the outcome of the lawsuit is, what do you plan to do next?" Pello walked a few steps forward, stepping into her reflection.
Pello’s question caught Su Ziceng off guard; she really hadn’t thought about that.
"Let’s go to Spain," Su Ziceng blurted out unconsciously. Pello had just lowered his head, taking her entire silhouette into his view.
"Go to Spain?" Pello repeated in a murmur, as if not so much answering but savoring her words.
"To Spain. You won’t have to think about the past anymore, nor will I bother with the Su Family’s affairs. We’ll go to Spain, where there are beaches and sunshine, both of which we love, right?" Su Ziceng reminisced about the coast of expansive white sands and rich sunlight, her troubled eyes clearing up. There, the sunshine seemed to break through the gloom she’d been feeling for many days.
At first, she thought of settling in France with Pello, but that idea, tainted with Olsen’s hatred and painful memories of avalanches, made her loath to stay there long term, so she chose Spain, filled with beautiful memories. Possibly under that sunshine on the beach, she had already fallen in love with Pello.
"Can you really let go of the Su Family?" Pello, looking at Su Ziceng’s brightly smiling face, seemed to have a trace of melancholy in his tone.
"Once Secretary Chang gets out, and Chang Chi... I think I can leave the Su Family to them," Su Ziceng had pondered a lot. She thought of Secretary Wang’s death and that child of Yan Wuxu whose whereabouts were unknown. She contemplated how to solve this series of problems. Yet, in the end, she hesitated.
Would she send Yan Wuxu to prison, causing the infants who had swapped identities to lose their support? All of this, every bit of it, was due to her own rebirth, leading their lives to go awry. In a way, she was the primary culprit.
