CHAPTER 502: CHAPTER 207: THE SU FAMILY DEFENSIVE BATTLE (PART 4)

Pello returned home and habitually turned on the surveillance monitor. It was only when his gaze fell upon the image of Su Ziceng’s bedroom that he remembered Su Ziceng wasn’t living at home right now.

Today, he didn’t appear in court and deliberately didn’t return her calls. She should be very angry. However, that’s not quite right; Su Ziceng is no longer the fiery and easily angered young lady she once was. He had known her for almost four years now, from their unintentional initial encounters to their later closeness, he thought he was just playing a role. But as the curtain was about to close, he found his own emotions involved.

That night, when Su Ziceng suggested going to Spain with him, his first reaction was delight, quickly followed by panic. Seeing the expectation in her eyes, he felt an urge to agree.

The beaches of Golden Coast, Su Ziceng under the sunshine, squinting her eyes, all of it tempted him to leave his past behind. It wasn’t until this morning when he once again walked into the hospital, and saw Su Qingzhang, who despite being covered in IV tubes seemed to be in good spirits, that his resentment pulled him back.

The phone rang once again. Could it be her calling again?

Pello initially didn’t want to answer, but something compelled him to check anyway—it was an unfamiliar number.

"Who exactly are you?" A cold female voice came from the other end.

"Secretary Chang," Pello was somewhat surprised, realizing this call was from Chang Mei, who was incarcerated.

"I’m only allowed a 15-minute call, so I hope you and I don’t need to waste words," Chang Mei typically had this 15 minutes to facilitate communication with her lawyer, but tonight, she decided to use the time to speak with Pello.

"Secretary Chang’s words are interesting. Who I am, didn’t you investigate beforehand?" Pello walked to the window. His room was dark, the streetlights outside shone on his face, turning his eyes into two black holes, all light seemingly devoured.

Su Qingzhang isn’t dead, the Su Family hasn’t fallen; everything isn’t over yet, he needs to be more thorough.

"Both Qingzhang and I were deceived by you. Where is Xiao Chi? I’ve been trying to contact her all night to no avail?" Chang Mei knew that tonight would be a sleepless one, for both Su Ziceng and Chang Chi.

"Perhaps you should ask Shang Yin, not me," Pello didn’t want to hide anymore, there was no need for pretense in front of Chang Mei.

"So Xiao Chi was indeed seduced by you and Shang Yin, leading her to perjure herself in court today against Ziceng and Qingzhang," Chang Mei’s tone was full of rage, wishing she could tear off their masks herself.

She should have realized earlier—the changes in Chang Chi, Pello’s constant approaches to Ziceng, all the incidents involving the Su Family, she truly regretted having let the wolf into the house.

"It’s only blame your daughter was blinded by what she thought was love," Pello now realized that something significant had occurred in court today, no wonder Shang Yin returned home exclaiming it was thrilling.

"Who exactly are you? What has the Su Family done to you that you would use such malicious methods to torment Qingzhang and Ziceng, you deceived her," Chang Mei knew she had to tell Ziceng, to warn Ziceng to be wary of Pello, it wasn’t too late.

"Do you remember Tina? Too bad Su Qingzhang is still comatose, otherwise, you could ask Su Qingzhang about how he abandoned Tina in Africa, leaving her to face life and death," hatred was rekindled in Pello’s eyes.

He hated that Tina had abandoned him and his father to elope with Su Qingzhang. Hatred had circled in his heart for over a decade, turning him into a venomous snake, intent on devouring everything related to the Su Family, be it Su Ziceng or Su Qingzhang.

After his father died, he had thought of searching for his mother’s remains, following the letter she left when she ran away from home to Africa, where according to the locals, he learned Tina and Su Qingzhang had once been.

The young couple hadn’t left Africa together; Tina died there. Mussen had been to the local area but never found her remains. Pello didn’t either, but he unearthed some clues regarding Tina’s cause of death. The last native to witness Tina and Su Qingzhang together claimed they had an argument in the hotel they were staying at that day.
