CHAPTER 516: CHAPTER 211: A JULY WEDDING IN FRANCE (PART 3)
It was the same flower shop owner from last time, Su Ziceng recalled, the one she had handed a one hundred francs note to.
Both recognized each other and erupted into laughter for a moment. Their cheerful laughter, like bees, buzzed and swirled among the flowers.
In the end, when Su Ziceng left, she was holding a bunch of freshly picked red roses. The attentive shop owner noticed that among all the flowers, it was these Bulgarian red roses that caught Ziceng’s eyes the most.
The flowers were not large, but their color was striking, much like the girl from the East. At first glance, she seemed unremarkable, but upon closer inspection, she was charming and attractive.
Originally, Su Ziceng wanted to find a hotel near the Champs Elysees, but then she thought it would be a waste of money to stay in such a prime location. As she hesitated, a sightseeing bus bound for the Sacred Heart Cathedral pulled up beside her.
The Sacred Heart Cathedral was where Mrs. Bao Qin and Master Rang were to be married, or perhaps she should find accommodation near the Cathedral to easily attend the ceremony.
To facilitate sightseeing, the tour bus was not fitted with sealed glass windows, but was open with only a cover sporting the colors of the French flag above each window. Tourists who boarded the bus only had to pay twenty francs to comfortably sit for an afternoon, taking in the fragrances of flowers and plane trees along the streets, a pleasant way to pass the time.
The bus moved along the main streets of Paris. Fashionably dressed French people and tourists like Su Ziceng who were briefly visiting France, each with different expressions, wandered around the streets and alleys.
Not far away, the striking white building on top of Montmartre was none other than Sacred Heart Cathedral. The several dome-shaped white roofs drew the gaze of every tourist on the bus, except for Su Ziceng.
As the people on the bus were exclaiming in amazement, Su Ziceng pressed the bus’ stop button. She had seen a familiar hotel, "Eve Hotel."
The roses in her hand, blown by the wind through the bus window, leaned to one side, exposing their ginger-yellow pistils. Su Ziceng’s cheeks were even more vivid than the roses, and she had decided, for the next few days, she would stay at the Eve Hotel.
Su Ziceng held a special affection for Eve Hotel. On her previous visit for the socialite ball, amidst her nervousness, she hadn’t noticed that the Eve Hotel was located near the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
After getting off the bus, Su Ziceng noticed that the Eve Hotel was even more inviting during the day than under the night sky.
Without the complicated, vibrant lights and heavy traffic, the Eve Hotel, nestled behind trees and greenery, was like a smiling French socialite welcoming guests.
The newly repaired roadside ditches, brimming with vibrant flowers in full bloom in the summer, made Su Ziceng feel as if she had stepped into an idyllic paradise, and the bunch of red roses in her hand made her blend in perfectly with her surroundings.
The picturesque scenery slowed Su Ziceng’s steps, and the sightseeing bus she had been on had already passed by. She planned to walk up to the heights after dinner and see the Sacred Heart Cathedral under the dim twilight, tinted with the hue of autumn maple leaves.
Unlike the lively National Day decorations at other locations, the entrance to the "Eve Hotel" was decorated entirely in festive red. It surprisingly evoked the celebratory atmosphere of the Lunar New Year in China.
The French roses completely different from those in Su Ziceng’s hand decorated the place into heart shapes, with a red carpet spreading all the way, isolating the natural scenery behind it.
"It seems that Lady Eve has some fondness for the East. The current decorations look very much like those of an Eastern wedding," Su Ziceng entered the hotel lobby, observing the staff busily working around.
"Hello," Su Ziceng hadn’t used French for some days, and when she spoke, her voice carried a hint of stiffness, "Please help me book a single room, preferably one with a view of the Sacred Heart Cathedral."
The tall, broad-faced French female receptionists all showed difficulty upon hearing Su Ziceng’s request.
Indeed, it was a bit challenging for them to expect room selection so close to National Day. Su Ziceng quickly changed her request: "If that’s not available, a regular room will do. I only need to stay for two nights." After Mrs. Bao Qin’s wedding on the fourteenth, she could discuss other accommodations with Lin Ying.
"I’m sorry, miss. The hotel has been fully booked as it is hosting a grand wedding," the receptionist could only respond truthfully.
The couple who fell for each other at a dance at Eve Hotel had already booked rooms in advance for their relatives and friends. The hotel had been completely booked by guests three days ago.
