CHAPTER 365: CHAPTER 364: PEACEFUL TIMES

Zhang San was stunned, "No way?! Do we have to install it on every computer in the internet café again?"

"Not at all! Just install it on this main computer! It’s used for managing inventory of the snack bar and the book rental service!"

"Oh! You scared me to death! Installing software while the business is running is such a hassle! Li Si’er and I almost forgot which ones were installed and which weren’t! Not to mention that some computers only had one or two programs installed, not the full set! We checked for missing programs several times!"

Zhen Yu said with a light smile, "Heh... I’m really sorry for the trouble it caused you both."

Seeing how polite Zhen Yu was, Zhang San hurriedly took the blame. "Hey! This is all for making things easier for us in the future! It’s normal to have trouble in the beginning! Isn’t there a saying, ’All beginnings are hard’?"

"Third Brother is right, once we overcome the difficulties now, the future will be a smooth ride!"

Zhang San laughed and nodded, "Alright! Anyway, the two of us will listen to you!"

Mrs. Zhen was not at the counter, she must be busy moving to the new place at the wonton shop. Zhen Yu didn’t bother with her and went straight in to work, swapping the old mainframe for a new one!

The case was hidden under the counter, and the monitor visible above the desk was still the oldest one.

"Third Brother, you install the software, and call me when it’s done!"

"Got it! Go on with your work!"

Zhen Yu nodded, picked up the old mainframe, and went back to the second floor.

Seeing her brother still busy in the bathroom, she didn’t offer to help but went straight back to the master bedroom, connecting the old mainframe with the 19-inch LCD screen she had brought out from the store.

Keyboards, mice, and even speakers—all provided by He Baihe! It must be said, she was pretty considerate. It’s just a pity that the interfaces didn’t match, so in a bit, Zhen Yu would have to go downstairs and swap these with the old accessories from the counter.

"Ah! Still need to find Brother Zhang!" Zhen Yu muttered as she picked up the phone and started dialing.

"Hello? Brother Zhang?"

"Little Zhenyu! I was just about to look for you!"

Zhen Yu felt happy inside, Zhang Liang looking for her must surely be good news!

"What do you need me for?"

"There are a few new games out, including that Resident Evil you mentioned!"

"That’s perfect! Come over, deliver the discs, and by the way, help me run a network cable to the second floor!"

"Haha! Have you finally decided to treat yourself to a computer to play games?!" Brother Zhang teased.

Zhen Yu smiled and replied, "Yes! I just needed to use it!"

Zhang Liang naturally wouldn’t ask what Zhen Yu needed the computer for, as their relationship wasn’t at that level. So he simply said, "Alright then! I’ll come over in a bit! I have to go now!"

"Bye, see you later!"

After hanging up the phone, Zhen Yu was pondering what she should do next when Zhen Yan’s voice came from the bathroom, "Little sister!"

Zhen Yu walked in and asked, "Brother?"

"I’ve scrubbed everything that needs scrubbing! Do you think it’s okay now?" Zhen Yan asked with his arms crossed.

Zhen Yu examined closely, "Use the showerhead to forcefully rinse all the places you can, then mop the floor and turn on the exhaust fan!"

Zhen Yan exclaimed, "Ah! Are you trying to work your brother to death?!"

Zhen Yu was unmoved, "Hurry up! We have other things to do this afternoon!"

"What else is there to do?!" Zhen Yan shouted. "Aren’t we nearly done with the move? The cleaning is almost finished too!"

"You’ve forgotten that you need to open a passbook at the bank! You’ll have to go by yourself later! I don’t have time to come with you!"

Zhen Yan was puzzled, "How come you’re busy again?!"

"Brother Zhang will be here any minute! I asked him to run a network cable to the second floor, and Zhang San has a pile of game discs to install, I have to look after the store!"

Without a second thought, Zhen Yan blurted out, "Isn’t mom there?!"

Zhen Yu didn’t say a word but left a look that let her brother understand for himself.

-

After Zhang Liang left, Zhen Yu sat at the counter, entering the inventory list into the database when Mrs. Zhen returned.

"Why are you manning the store? Where’s your brother?" Mrs. Zhen still remembered that earlier her daughter had said her son would take care of the store.

"He went to the bank to open an account," Zhen Yu said as she typed without giving Mrs. Zhen a glance. She immediately followed up, "All of our books are listed in this inventory, right? Not one is missing?"

"They should all be there! I always record the new books very clearly!" Mrs. Zhen asserted confidently.

"Have you finished all your errands?" Zhen Yu couldn’t help but worry about her mother and asked another question.

"Almost done. I’ll be moving to the new house with Uncle Gu and Gu Qing, and Xiao Gu will stay to sleep in the store."

"That’s good."

Zhen Yu said this from the heart, which Mrs. Zhen could naturally feel. She smiled, feeling the frustration in her chest dissipate a bit. "I’m free now, is there anything I can help you with?"

Finally, looking up at her mother, Zhen Yu thought for a moment before saying, "Come sit by me and write down the names of all the items we have in the store. Just approximate is fine! Later, I need to check the inventory."

"Sure! I’ve got it all memorized!"

-

This was the scene that greeted Zhen Yan as he walked into the internet cafe with his bankbook, watching from outside the counter.

His sister and mother were sitting side by side, one typing, and the other writing, occasionally leaning close to whisper. It seemed as if all was calm, as if the morning’s quarrel was long past.

Zhen Yan’s mood brightened instantly, and smiling, he leaned on the counter, calling out, "Mom! Little sister! What are you two busy with?"

"Did you get your bankbook sorted out?" Mrs. Zhen looked up and asked.

"Of course! Such a simple task!"

"Hand it over." Zhen Yu reached out her hand.

Zhen Yan looked at his sister with a muffled laugh, "Mom, see how she is now! Doesn’t she resemble a little housekeeper?"

Without missing a beat, Mrs. Zhen responded, "What do you mean resemble? She always has been!"

"Ha ha ha!" Zhen Yan’s laughter was hearty and joyful! While placing the bankbook in his sister’s palm, he winked at Zhen Yu, "Whoever marries you is in for it! They’ll be kept in line for sure!"

Zhen Yu understood her brother was alluding to Han Mingyue, but she replied evenly, "That would be his honor."

Even Mrs. Zhen couldn’t help but laugh. Giving Zhen Yu a look, she ’scolded’, "You girl! What nonsense true words you speak!"

Zhen Yu smiled too and raised her hand to signal her brother to come behind the counter.

Once the bulky Zhen Yan entered, the counter became immediately cramped. Mrs. Zhen couldn’t help but express her disapproval, scolding Zhen Yu, "Why did you ask him to come in here? He’s such a nuisance!"

"Mom!" Zhen Yan called out in a wronged tone.

"Enough, enough! Not embarrassed at all!" Mrs. Zhen gave her son a stern look, "You’re so grown and yet still acting like a child!"

"Come sit down!" Zhen Yu timely beckoned her brother, "I’ll teach you how to do the records! You take over here later, I’m going to make dinner!"
