Rebirth: The Comeback of the Girl
Chapter 419 - 418: Words within Words
CHAPTER 419: CHAPTER 418: WORDS WITHIN WORDS
"Xiao Yu?" The one who opened the door was Han Mingyue, and he was somewhat uncertain about Zhen Yu’s intentions.
Zhen Yu was particularly ’afraid’ to face Han Mingyue and hastily explained: "I’m looking for Zhen Yan!"
"Oh." Han Mingyue stepped back, still holding the doorknob, but gestured for Zhen Yu to come in.
Zhen Yu didn’t want to get too close to him, but she couldn’t very well say that out loud! So, expressionless, she truly ’brushed past’ him.
After she had walked past, Han Mingyue, with his back to the room, suddenly revealed a sly smile.
It was only when Zhen Yu reached behind her brother that she realized that Zhen Yan had earphones plugged in! He was staring at the English paper in front of him, deep in thought, apparently working on the listening section.
In such a situation, of course, it wasn’t good to disturb him, so Zhen Yu had no choice but to sit down on the bed and wait.
Han Mingyue had just finished closing the door and walked back. There were two single beds with luggage already placed that he didn’t choose to sit on; instead, he sat on the same bed Zhen Yu was sitting on.
The two of them, one leaning back at the head of the bed and the other sitting primly at the foot of the bed, neither began a conversation first. Like this, despite the presence of three living people in the same room, there was complete silence.
After a little over a minute, Zhen Yu couldn’t bear it anymore! Han Mingyue was openly staring at her profile from the moment he sat down, as if trying to spot a flower on her face!
"Han Mingyue."
"I’m here."
Looking for something to say, Zhen Yu asked, "How do the three of you sleep at night?"
"One bed each."
Zhen Yu raised her hand to touch her forehead and used her palm to cover her face a bit. She truly couldn’t continue this conversation...
But she had to keep the awkward conversation going! Because silence would make her feel even more uncomfortable!
After lowering her hand, Zhen Yu’s gaze accidentally swept over the book Han Mingyue was holding in his hand!
"What are you reading there?"
"Korean."
"Uh... shall we try having a conversation in Korean?"
Han Mingyue finally diverted his gaze from Zhen Yu’s face, he dropped his eyes and responded indifferently, "Sure."
The moment Zhen Yan took off his earphones, he heard a phrase in human speech that he couldn’t understand.
Half a second later, Zhen Yan turned his head.
As soon as their eyes met, Zhen Yu, finally relieved, joyfully called out: "Oppa!"
Zhen Yan: "?? What did you say?"
"Uh... Brother!"
This word, which would be overly familiar in the future, was not widely understood at the moment, and Zhen Yu, too happy, forgot to switch languages. Embarrassed, she called out again in Chinese.
"Why did you come to our room?" Zhen Yan was not focused on what she had said, but rather on why his sister was not in her own room late at night!
"I’ve got something for you!" Zhen Yu spread out her palm, which she had been holding closed, revealing a small gold pyramid in front of Zhen Yan and Han Mingyue.
"Take this." Just as Zhen Yan was about to inquire how to use the object, he suddenly remembered Han Mingyue was still beside them! So he simply reached out and took it.
Perhaps boys have a natural talent for fiddling with ’toys’! Zhen Yan quickly managed to activate the pyramid after taking it. Then he lowered his head and began to study how to use it! With his operation, the pyramid gradually lit up with a faint glow.
Seeing her brother keep playing with the object in his hand, Zhen Yu remembered she had forgotten to tell him how to carry it with him!
So she tapped her forehead and said, "I’ll find a chain to tie it to you!"
No sooner had she finished speaking than Han Mingyue couldn’t hold back a laugh!
Zhen Yan also looked up and glared at his sister with a smile, "Wear it, you mean! Tie it up? Are you tying up a dog or what!?"
Only then did Zhen Yu realize her words could be misinterpreted, and she couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed as she lowered her head. While pretending to reach into her pocket to hide her awkwardness, she focused her mind into the Storage Space.
Ever since she had acquired this space, Zhen Yu used it not just for safekeeping valuables but for casually tossing in things she often used as well! Then, like tidying up a room, she would sort and organize the items periodically. Over time, many small items from home had all moved into her space.
While living with Mrs. Zhen and her siblings, Zhen Yu was somewhat restrained, but once they all started living separately, Zhen Yu became utterly uninhibited. After all, Zhen Yan was not particularly attentive; whenever something went missing, he would directly ask her, and she would always know exactly where it was! This made him even less concerned about where things went; in his simple mind, everything was just tucked away by his sister!
At this moment, Zhen Yu’s space was a jumble, like a street stall with almost anything and everything! Fortunately, there was order in the chaos, with items neatly grouped by category.
Zhen Yu remembered that when she first bought gold in a large transaction, the owner had given her a platinum chain as a gift. It was thin but durable. Just the thing to find for Zhen Yan now, ah, to wear, not to tie!
"Here you go!" Zhen Yu tossed the boxed platinum chain onto her brother’s desk without unpacking it, urging him, "Quick, put it on and let’s see how much it lights up!"
"What’s this?" Although Zhen Yan heard what his sister said, the box containing the necklace was so exquisite that it immediately caught his eye!
"It’s a chain, of course!" Zhen Yu answered matter-of-factly.
"I know it’s a chain!" Zhen Yan said irritably as he opened the box, "I’m asking what kind of chain this is!"
"Oh, it’s platinum."
Zhen Yan was taken aback and quickly put the chain back in the box! "Why are you giving me a gold one?!"
Zhen Yu didn’t care much about these things and replied directly, "That’s all I have!"
"No good, you keep it and wear it! I’ll just find a piece of rope to tie it on," Zhen Yan said as he passed the box back to his sister.
Zhen Yu refused to take it, "I’m not interested in these things, and a rope isn’t durable!"
The two went back and forth about ’tying’, leaving Han Mingyue speechless. Seeing that Zhen Yu seemed pretty indifferent, she persuaded Zhen Yan, "Just wear it if Xiao Yu tells you to! What’s important is ’the object’, not the chain!"
Zhen Yan was startled by the implication in his words! He quickly looked up at Han Mingyue!
Han Mingyue’s expression was completely natural, as if what he had just said was no more than a normal remark.
Zhen Yan scrutinized him carefully for a moment but couldn’t detect the slightest slip-up, so he had no choice but to suppress the doubts in his heart and put on the pyramid.
Zhen Yu and Han Mingyue both looked towards Zhen Yan’s chest! Although the room lights were on at night, it was evident that the blue at the bottom of the pyramid was almost entirely lit up, with only a few dim spots.
However, the middle yellow layer was a mix of light and dark, with nearly half of it dull and lightless!
