Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant
Chapter 28 Who Are You Really
CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28 WHO ARE YOU REALLY
Despite Shen Zhongyang’s advanced age, his skills were still formidable. He fought Yunyi for dozens of rounds before his stamina finally gave out and he was defeated.
He had just asked, "Who in the world are you?" when Yunyi knocked him unconscious.
Following that, Yunyi used a special needle from her hand on him, ensuring he would never be able to speak again.
Having experienced several past lifetimes, Yunyi never showed mercy to her enemies. She promptly crippled his hands as well.
After neatly taking everything from the inner room, she collected the wooden gun that had been kicked away into her space, then began to go through the bookshelves against the wall of the outer room.
Behind one of the bookshelves, she found a hidden mechanism. Yunyi wasn’t surprised; in fact, she considered it quite normal.
However, upon opening it, she discovered it was just a fairly large secret compartment.
She didn’t bother to look closely at the items inside and immediately stored them all in her space. After all, the secret chamber by the entrance to the second courtyard was still waiting for her.
Looking down at Shen Zhongyang lying on the ground, she thought, Let him be found tomorrow morning. By then, not even a deity could cure him. He will spend the rest of his life as a living corpse.
There was not a trace of sympathy in her eyes. After all, the number of people he had murdered was likely countless; she considered her actions to be dispensing justice on Heaven’s behalf.
She returned to the Chuihua Gate of the second courtyard and found a well-concealed mechanism beneath the gate pier.
When the mechanism activated, she discovered the entrance wasn’t nearby. Instead, it was several meters away, on the wall of a building in the second courtyard. This wall was usually obscured by the open gate, making the entrance easily overlooked.
Upon examining the stone steps at the entrance, she realized the room had been constructed with double walls, making it completely indiscernible from the outside.
Descending the stone steps, she found two small chambers below, filled to the brim with items.
Yunyi was certain this was not the Shen Family’s only treasure trove. Without the slightest hesitation, she efficiently cleared everything out.
After exiting, she restored the mechanism to its original state. She didn’t linger, quickly vaulting the wall. Then, she retrieved one of the bicycles taken from the Shen Family and headed home.
「More than an hour later.」
She finally arrived home.
Knowing she was leaving the next day and still had many things to do, she went directly into her space upon entering the house.
First, she took a bath in the hot pool behind the stone house to relieve her fatigue. Then, she went to the storeroom to find what she had taken from the secret compartment in Shen Zhongyang’s study.
Upon examining them, her heart trembled. Among the items were several account books detailing many of the sordid acts committed by the Shen Family, making their misdeeds quite apparent.
Besides these, there were two small boxes of gold bars, a small box of exquisite jade stones, and three property deeds, one of which was for the Shen Family’s large mansion.
Seeing these items, Yunyi thought, Now the Shen Family is surely doomed.
She had not originally intended to take the items from those two locations; after all, to condemn the Shen Family, sufficient incriminating evidence was essential.
She believed these properties surely contained more ill-gotten wealth gathered by the Shen Family from various places.
Once she arranged everything, even if the Shen family members woke up and reported the crime, people would likely suspect it was merely a diversion tactic on their part.
Since the items she possessed were enough to bring down the Shen Family, it was best to get them into the right hands as soon as possible.
Having just organized her things, Yunyi left home once again, this time heading straight for the Hua Family.
However, she didn’t reveal herself. Instead, she wrote a letter with a brush and threw it over the Hua Family’s wall along with the account books and the three property deeds.
The letter described the situation at the small courtyard used by the Shen Family’s henchmen. It advised the Hua Family not to act themselves but to inform the Shen Family’s other enemies. This would prevent the Shen Family from retaliating against the Hua Family with any remaining schemes.
