Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant
Chapter 42: Taking Action to Save Someone
CHAPTER 42: CHAPTER 42: TAKING ACTION TO SAVE SOMEONE
Yunyi initially had no desire to interfere. After all, she was very young; she worried others wouldn’t believe she understood medicine. However, the train attendant couldn’t find a doctor via the onboard announcement. When Yunyi saw that the woman across from her was not doing well, she disregarded her concerns and spoke up, "I studied medicine with my grandfather for several years. If you trust me, I’m willing to examine her."
The attendant looked at her youth and couldn’t help frowning.
But the husband, desperate by now, clutched at straws. "Yes, yes, please, quickly have a look at my wife."
Yunyi didn’t even have time to pull her shoes on properly, just shuffling across to the opposite side.
After feeling the woman’s pulse, Yunyi’s brow furrowed.
After careful confirmation, she turned to the train attendant. "She’s showing signs of a miscarriage. Quickly see if anyone on the train has silver needles. If not, any needle will do. We must be quick."
Upon hearing this, the man cradling his wife looked incredulous. "Wife, are you pregnant?"
The woman’s expression also changed. She looked down at her stomach. "I didn’t know. You know my periods have always been irregular."
Then, she suddenly looked up at Yunyi, disregarding her discomfort. Her voice trembled as she asked, "Comrade, am I really pregnant?"
The situation was urgent. Yunyi didn’t expect any help from the bewildered couple and turned to the attendants in the aisle. "Comrades, please hurry and find needles. Any later, and we might not be able to save her baby."
The two attendants, realizing the severity of the situation, immediately sprang into action at Yunyi’s words.
Unfortunately, they only found two sewing needles for public use in their duty room and had to search other carriages for more.
Yunyi quickly pressed the Guanyuan Acupoint, Zusanli Acupoint, Shangwan Acupoint, Zhongwan Acupoint, and Xiawan Acupoint on the still-dazed woman.
Then she had the husband help his wife into a prone position while she pressed the Pishu Acupoint, Shenshu Acupoint, Yinbai Acupoint, Fuliu Acupoint, Taiyuan Acupoint, Tanzhong Acupoint, Zhangmen Acupoint, and Baihui Acupoint.
Thankfully, it was summer, and the woman was only wearing a thin layer of clothing; otherwise, it would have been quite difficult to perform the treatment.
However, these acupoints could only help stabilize the pregnancy, not stop the bleeding. Yunyi grew anxious.
Just then, an attendant ran back, panting, "Little comrade, will this work?"
Yunyi looked at what the attendant held: it was a handful of safety pins. Now she could only make do with these.
"Do you have any alcohol? These safety pins need to be straightened and sterilized."
Then, thinking that alcohol might not be available on the train in these times, she quickly added, "Alternatively, ask the chef in the dining car to boil them. High-temperature sterilization will also work."
The attendant hurried towards the dining car. They only had red potion on the train, so boiling was the only option for sterilization.
Hearing it was to save a life, the dining car staff immediately agreed to help without a second thought.
When the attendant returned carrying a pot, Yunyi noticed that besides a small ladle, there was also a pair of chopsticks. She silently thanked whoever had thought of this.
She ladled some boiling water out with the ladle, enduring the scalding heat to sterilize her hands. Then she instructed someone to use the chopsticks to transfer all the safety pins from the bottom of the pot to the ladle.
By this time, the other passengers in the compartment had all moved elsewhere. Yunyi had the patient’s husband assist while the others left. Then she quickly began inserting the makeshift needles.
Because the safety pins differed in hardness and flexibility from silver needles, Yunyi was sweating profusely by the time she finished inserting them all.
The bleeding stopped. However, Yunyi didn’t dare to feel too relieved. "The bleeding has stopped, but she is too weak and was already ill. It’s best to get off the train at the next stop for prompt medical treatment to ensure the pregnancy is safe."
The couple was extremely grateful. After discussing with the train attendant, they prepared to get off at the next station to seek medical attention.
