Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant
Chapter 448: Complete Chaos
CHAPTER 448: CHAPTER 448: COMPLETE CHAOS
Yunyi saw his worried expression. "Don’t worry," she reassured him, "I’ll be careful."
Huo Jingrui knew this was no time for sentimentality. If things spiraled out of control, the consequences would be severe.
He glanced at Yunyi, then turned and ran out. He had to race against time now.
The previous treatments had drained Yunyi of her physical and mental energy. She worried that more people would be sent over. Given her current condition, she feared she wouldn’t be able to hold on for much longer.
She propped herself up and said to the security team member waiting outside, "I’m going back to the small rear courtyard for a bit. Call me if anything happens."
The man nodded. "Understood, Doctor Chu."
Yunyi returned to the small courtyard, secured the gate, entered her room, bolted the door, and then entered her space.
She drank a cup of Spatial Well Water and finally felt revitalized.
After entering the Stone House, she dished out a portion of the braised pork with potatoes and rice she had prepared earlier and began to eat heartily. I can’t be bothered with appearances right now; filling my stomach is the priority. After all, there are still tough battles ahead. Expelling poison with silver needles is incredibly draining. I need to eat my fill to recover my strength.
She quickly tidied up, hurried out of her space, and rushed toward the clinic.
「Meanwhile, Huo Jingrui and his team arrived at the neighboring forestry camp.」
They found it in chaos, much like the Agricultural Reclamation Group. The assailants had also targeted the pregnant women there.
When they arrived, the forestry camp’s leaders were preparing to transport the pregnant women to the county hospital. They feared the nearby commune health center couldn’t handle the situation, especially since the medical staff at the forestry camp’s clinic were clueless about the cause of the illness.
Huo Jingrui quickly explained the situation. He urged them to bring the patients to the Agricultural Reclamation Group’s clinic for centralized treatment, as Yunyi had already handled similar cases and had the experience to provide immediate care. Sending them to the county hospital, he argued, was not only a long journey fraught with potential incidents, but he also suspected the assailants might have set an ambush on the road to the county town.
The leaders of the forestry camp were ecstatic to hear that a doctor from the Agricultural Reclamation Group could treat this illness. They hurriedly organized personnel to transport the sick pregnant women there, inwardly grateful that the two locations were not far apart.
Huo Jingrui instructed the forestry camp leaders to arrange for their most capable security team members to provide an escort. He also told them to summon medical staff from the nearby commune hospital, as the Agricultural Reclamation Group’s clinic would be overwhelmed with so many maternity patients. He also mentioned that one of the medical staff at the Agricultural Reclamation Group was a male doctor, which could be problematic if any women went into labor.
The Agricultural Reclamation Group had made preparations in advance. However, the forestry camp only took action after the collective outbreak among the pregnant women. Their conditions were generally not good, and the scene was utterly chaotic.
Luckily, the forestry camp had a tractor. Arrangements were quickly made to board the most severely ill pregnant women first. However, when some families heard that the pregnant women at the Agricultural Reclamation Group were already receiving treatment, they tried to rush onto the tractor, creating a cacophony of shouts, cries, and yells.
Huo Jingrui snatched a megaphone from a staff member. "Everyone, stop!" he yelled. "Follow the clinic’s medical staff’s instructions! Anyone who disobeys will be the last to board the tractor!"
Upon hearing Huo Jingrui’s warning, the agitated family members regained some composure.
Huo Jingrui understood their desperation, but with only one tractor available at the forestry camp, they had to prioritize the most urgent cases.
