Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant
Chapter 553: Gathering Information
CHAPTER 553: CHAPTER 553: GATHERING INFORMATION
While Ye Wenhui was away, she asked, "How’s it going, is everything arranged?"
Huo Jingrui responded with an "Mm": "It’s arranged."
Yunyi glanced at the door: "If it snows, the plan might have to be postponed; it’s too prone to exposure."
Huo Jingrui coughed lightly: "It’s okay even if it snows; I’ll go myself when the time comes."
Yunyi was full of surprise: "You’ve made progress in Qinggong?"
Huo Jingrui nodded: "Yes, following someone shouldn’t be a problem."
As they talked, Ye Wenhui returned.
Yunyi looked and saw only her: "Where’s Zheng Xuewen?"
Ye Wenhui said a bit embarrassed: "He went to the cafeteria to get food."
She then raised her voice to add: "He’ll come over to pick me up in a while."
Yunyi laughed: "Well, he’s quite considerate. Hurry up and eat, so when he comes to pick you up, you won’t have finished eating and kept him waiting in the cold."
Ye Wenhui wouldn’t take it lying down, and with a laugh, said: "If you want me to free up space early, just say it directly; don’t use me as an excuse."
Huo Jingrui watched the two sisters banter, his lips curling up: "Hurry up and eat. If you don’t, the dishes will get cold."
Ye Wenhui picked up a bite of braised beans: "Sis, your cooking skills are really impeccable, Jingrui will be fortunate in the future."
Yunyi replied: "Sis, this was cooked by Jingrui."
The line almost made Ye Wenhui choke, and only with Yunyi lightly patting her on the back did she recover: "This was made by Jingrui?"
Yunyi noticed her embarrassed look, like she wanted to find a hole to hide in, and couldn’t help but help her out: "You went out just in time to miss it."
She then remembered she indeed went to the restroom midway and had to smile awkwardly: "I didn’t think Jingrui’s cooking skills were so good."
Huo Jingrui chuckled at Yunyi: "It’s all Yi’er teaching well."
Indeed, without Yunyi’s good teaching, who would have thought he, a once noble prince, would be groomed by his princess into a dedicated man able to farm and cook.
But it’s a pity about Yi’er’s space, no longer...
Sigh, better not to think about it. If not for Yi’er exchanging that space for his current life, they wouldn’t have rekindled their past relationship. He should be satisfied, and as for the rest, let it forever reside in the depths of memory.
Ye Wenhui picked up her pace, not wanting to be a spectator to their lovey-dovey.
Luckily, Zheng Xuewen was reliable; she had just finished eating and tidied the utensils to the kitchen when Zheng Xuewen knocked on the door.
Ye Wenhui played the part of the nonchalant boss: "Alright, I’ll leave the bowl to you guys. I’m heading out."
Yunyi saw her ready to make a quick escape: "Sis, wait."
Handing her a sheet of oiled paper, she wrapped up four buns: "Here, I steamed them today. Take them home to eat."
Ye Wenhui didn’t stand on ceremony, thinking of her package due soon. When it arrives, she’ll share some of the food her family sent with her cousin, playfully saying: "I’m off then. You two enjoy talking, but don’t keep him too late; better send him off to the guesthouse early."
Yunyi smiled as she sent her to the door: "He’s going to sleep at the Regimental Commander’s office and help Qiao Tuan with night watch."
She greeted Zheng Xuewen, watching them walk off. If Zheng Xuewen is truthful about having no connection with Zhong Liyuan, he’s a pretty good potential match.
After closing the gate, she turned back to the kitchen: "Jingrui, how much do you know about Zheng Xuewen’s family?"
Huo Jingrui washed dishes as he replied: "The guy is pretty decent, has a brother and two sisters above, with a younger sister below. Originally, it was supposed to be his second sister going to the countryside, but he secretly signed up instead."
