CHAPTER 49: ANOTHER PROBLEM

This morning it’s probably best to ask Liora who the target is that we’ll be dealing with this time. If we don’t at least have the slightest idea of what we’re up against then this will be another problem for us to face.

I know everyone is awake so I don’t have to worry about waiting for them to get up, but I’m concerned. All those thoughts in my head are just going every direction that they possibly could.

Good, bad, it doesn’t matter. Death is what ways on my mind above all else and it’s the death of my companions. My death can happen as many times as it needs, even if I don’t want it to.

I can feel her running her fingers through my hair, something that completely interrupted my train of thought. I didn’t mind it but it did make me feel something different.

"Good morning Art." Amelia says softly.

Her red eyes were fixated on me and I couldn’t help but stare back into them, she really was beautiful.

Liora moves to the center of the room while preparing herself. "You said you wanted to know who we were looking for before, I’ll happily give that information now." Liora speaks loud enough for the party to hear.

She was looking directly towards me when that was said so I know she was talking about when I asked. Liora is the one with the most information at the moment until we find a better way to gather it ourselves.

Shimada seems to figure things out from time to time but thst wasn’t the case for right now.

"We’re listening." Shimada chimes in before crossing his arms.

Another target for us to handle meant that we’d be able to wipe out someone of importance, or at least that’s what we’re hoping for.

Liora takes a few glances around at everyone before she begins. "The enemy that we’ll be dealing with here is known as a reaper, the reaper of Helfri." Liora says before she starts to go into it.

(Liora explaining.)

The Cult of Nyxoria has a lot of different rankings throughout each continent and this one is one of the more unique ones. We have a rank here known as the reaper which anyone could guess what that means.

They are the bringer of death and have taken lots of lives already the way it is— the reaper of Helfri is a lot stronger than most of the other reapers we have because of their power.

Throughout the years they have absorbed the strength of those that they’ve killed in battle. It’s a rare power for someone to have but it’s one of the stronger ones I’ve seen in a long time.

I still believe that it was better to come here to fight them over the other target because if we can beat them, then it truly will be possible to beat the original target.

I’ll reveal who it is once the reaper of Helfri is killed and we’ve taken out anyone else who could report their death.

(The end of Liora’s explanation.)

An enemy that has gotten stronger over time by absorbing the strength of the fallen, how interesting that kind of power can be. They will definitely prove to be quite the challenge in any kind of battle that we throw at them.

Someone like that is almost on the level of a god you’d think right? Never ending strength from those that you kill, how could you not be in such a level.

"So how would we even beat someone like that?" Shimada asks.

Everyone went quiet in the room for a few moments since no one really had a good answer for that question just yet.

"We will just have to work together as a team to kill them." Liora answers, finally breaking the silence.

Even if we all die the first time it could give me some sort of idea on how to deal with this guy. Dying has helped me before so why wouldn’t it be useful in yet another situation like this.

I just don’t want to see all of my friends dead again without me being able to do a damn thing about it.

It hurts me to think about that over and over again the way it is so I don’t really know what the best approach is. Death could solve a lot but it could also bring even more pain in the long run.

"Stop overthinking it, just have faith in your party." The girls voice whispers softly in his ear.

He turns slightly and notices that no one is there but Amelia, but yet he felt her breathing in his ear when she spoke.

I’ll never understand how everything works with her or how I’m able to feel these things when she isn’t here. This girl is quite the mystery and I don’t know if I’ll ever understand a thing about her.

She’s right though, I need to have faith in my party when this fight arrives. I’m also overthinking everything because for once I actually have people that I care about.

I’m scared to lose them all without the chance to go back and fix it, something that only I can do.

"Our advantage right now is knowledge, we can use that to prepare for the fight outside the doors." Liora says with confidence.

Knowledge, yes that’s right. We know a lot more than they probably expect us to since most people aren’t like us. They don’t typically have someone who was part of the cult itself or even the type of power we have.

Two mages and multiple swordsman, I’d say we are pretty set for the type of party we have. We can definitely handle this... I don’t even know why I keep worrying about it so much.

Just keep calm and let the blade guide itself through my enemies as everyone else assists me in the battle against the cult of Nyxoria.
