Chapter 51: The Reaper of Helfri (2)
CHAPTER 51: THE REAPER OF HELFRI (2)
A series of shadows begin to take on a humanoid like shape as they form around the reaper, all welding a dark blade that matches them entirely.
So this is what she meant when she was talking about new tricks to show me during this battle. A bunch of shadows that resemble a human with a blade like mine, how interesting.
This fight is definitely going to be a lot more intense than I previously thought, especially with new abilities appearing. I know this reaper will have a few tricks up its sleeve as well.
The reaper finally begins to push back against Artemis before finally breaking his defense, but the moment it breaks, the shadows charge in towards him.
All slashing down towards the reaper at once as it begins to dodge and counter each attack with its scythe. Usually you’d hear the clanging of metal but since they were pure shadows it wasn’t very loud.
Just slashing through each one with ease while trying to avoid the attacks.
Artemis wasn’t just going to sit here as the shadows attack though, he took the chance to charge in once again. Death was already lingering in the air the way it is, there was no need to waste anymore time.
At least that’s the way Artemis was thinking at this time about everything, his comrades were fighting the remaining men while he fought the boss.
I can’t think about it or else I’ll get distracted by my thoughts again, everyone will be fine at the end of the day. Fighting this reaper is going to take a lot more than I thought.
He’s fighting off the shadows with ease... What else can I do? She hasn’t shown me any of the other abilities just yet so this will be interesting.
"Utilize your speed, it is a lot faster. How do you think we beat the keeper previously." The girl speaks with her instructions clear.
Speed, that’s something I used against Liora and it was definitely quite the game changer besides the shadows. Something just clicked in me during that fight that I couldn’t understand.
Focusing on the fight itself might be the way to bring it out of me again— Even if it’s something that I don’t want to do right now because of the fighting in the distance.
Breathe in and breathe out. Thump. Thump. His heart began to race, he could hear it beating like crazy as he tries to focus on the reaper.
I’m slowly starting to see everything just like before, it’s all starting to come together once again. The shadows are my biggest ally in every fight I have so I need to use them to the fullest.
Artemis disappears into the darkness before the reaper as he begins to move with speeds that the reaper didn’t expect. "They always have tricks, but none of them can ever handle what I can do." The Reaper speaks with a monotone voice.
He doesn’t pay any mind to what the reaper says as he begins to bring his blade up, slashing across the reapers chest in an instant. No blood comes out from the wound but he can see that he cut into some sort of armor underneath.
The other shadows continue the attack as Artemis reels back once again. The reaper seems to be defending itself pretty easily against the other attacks while keeping an eye out for Artemis.
I cut right across its chest but yet it’s still perfectly fine— It must’ve been the armor that it has on underneath since I didn’t see any blood. I should’ve expected that the reaper would have some tough armor on from the start.
It may not be as tough as the general’s armor but it sure as hell is going to have some resistance for me to get through. I’ll have to put a little more strength into my next attack if I’m going to make a dent in its armor.
Meanwhile in the distance the group is finally starting to wrap things up against the soldiers as the numbers dwindle. It seems that the group has managed to kill off most of the remaining men.
Leaving the streets absolutely covered in bodies, blood, and swords. It was an absolute mess but this was how it went in war typically so this wasn’t anything new.
"I really thought that there would be a lot more of them than this." Shimada says with a bit of disappointment.
Liora steps forward a bit and looks around. "This was definitely an army so I doubt that there are anymore soldiers than this." She speaks with confidence in her voice.
They all turned towards the direction Artemis was in, fighting against the reaper, hearing the distant clanging as his blade slashes across the reapers armor.
It wasn’t an easy battle by any means but he was in the home stretch of the fight since the reaper was the last enemy for them to defeat. No one else was left in Helfri besides it.
I don’t know if there’s anything more I could do to get some kind of damage off, he doesn’t seem phased by my attacks at all. Even with my speed I’ve been able to land attacks repeatedly as it just stands there blocking against all my shadows.
He hasn’t even gone for me once when I’ve tried to attack, that’s the strange part of it all. Why won’t he go after me when I try to attack him?
Rumble! Rumble! The ground begins to shake as the battle carries on, multiple skeletons begin to rise from the ground within a matter of seconds.
All of them begin to bare arms and rush towards the shadows that are attacking the reaper. Each one taking the attention away from him as they start to focus on the skeletons.
That bastard was just stalling for time this whole time while I failed to get any real damage off on him. I’ll give him credit, it was a smart play.
