CHAPTER 61: KINGDOM OF THEOS

It didn’t seem to matter why it happened or not since she wouldn’t answer anything I have to ask right now anyway. She’ll happily leave me with unanswered questions but I didn’t think she watched me that closely.

She’s also paying attention to my memory for some reason— I didn’t think it mattered if I forgot about my old life or not. This world is my new home and my new life after all so what does it matter?

I’ll focus more on the details about it all later I guess, we have quite the path for Theos to go still. A weeks worth of traveling still remains and we don’t know what to expect along the way.

The party gathered their things and started back on the road for Theos, ignoring the stalls around the streets for the time being since they had more important things to do.

They were on the search for the cult leader of this continent so there was no time to waste on small activities. The road they started traveling on also seems to be quite peaceful as nature just seems to paint a beautiful picture around them.

"Who are you guys looking for?" Mizuki speaks up with a bit of curiosity as she asks.

I forgot that we didn’t really tell her all that much about who we were looking for or what we were planning to do. We brought her in for the time being but didn’t really say much to her about anything.

It was the right call back there since we don’t know where the enemy is hiding or if they are following us at all. They’ve been quite the challenge so far and I don’t want to take any chances of getting anyone killed here.

We’ve come a long way for us to have to restart from any point in time, I’m not sure how far back it’ll send me if I die. I’ve been lucky so far with it sending me back a bit before the events happen.

I don’t want to keep testing it because I’m afraid it will eventually send me real far back with no proper explanation.

"We’re hunting the cult of Nyxoria." Liora answers since no one else seems to want to answer.

Mizuki begins to think about the cult since she only really heard rumors about them in the past. This was kind of new to her but she wants to trust the new people she’s decided to travel with.

"I’ve heard of them, but I never thought they were real." Mizuki says with a bit of shock in her voice.

I should’ve guessed that people like Mizuki exist in the world without much information about the cult. They do operate in the shadows more than anything else so it makes sense to me.

Eventually we’ll have to catch her up ok everything that happened with them so far and what we accomplished. For now at least she knows who we are hunting.

The cult of Nyxoria is going to take some time to hunt down but it will be better for the world in the long run. We’re trying to make the difference by stopping them before they bring back someone with terrible intentions.

Nyxoria will destroy this world if she gets the chance to come back so it’s best to keep her from coming back.

"We’ve already dealt with a few of them, they are strong but we need to stop them." Liora continues.

I guess Liora will just fill her in on everything so that we don’t have to later but I’m still wondering why this being wants Isabel alive. I’ve got no clue what’s so special about her that she can’t be killed no matter what.

What happens if I break the promise and kill her anyway? I guess that being did heal me so maybe all my wounds would return and I’d be on the cusp of death again.

I’d rather not take the chance of ruining all the progress we’ve got.

They continue onward as Liora catches Mizuki up on everything that they’ve gone through since meeting. It was a lot for her to take in but she was baffled by the amount of fighting one party already did together.

Parties usually don’t fight full armies by themselves so it’s quite rare to hear about something like that. Most people would think it’s a fairy tale of sorts since no party has ever been that strong.

Three days go by.

They didn’t run into any issues while traveling along the road and even made their camp before continuing on. This was the life they chose to go with, hunting down members of a cult.

Having to settle down to rest periodically as they traveled was normal but Theos wasn’t much further.

"We are actually closer than I thought, one more day to go." Shimada says while looking down at the map.

Even though the town wasn’t on the map, the path that ran through it was so we could still navigate to where we needed to go. I’m not much of a map reader so it’s good that we have people who can read them.

But I’m slowly getting tired of all the walking in this world, maybe we can find some sort of alternative way to travel soon. Horses, carriages, or maybe some sort of teleport thing?

Any of those options would be amazing to have in a world like this where we are constantly traveling throughout each continent.

"About time, I’m exhausted. This has been so much walking." Cynthia speaks up with a bit of a tired tone to her voice.

With that they didn’t stop since they weren’t much further from the kingdom of Theos, the party wanted to get there as quickly as they could since it wasn’t far.

Isabel was the target to find but if they reach the kingdom they can find a place to stay before looking for her. This would make things a lot more manageable for the time being.

But finally the last day passes with a bit of struggle as they reach the gates of Theos. Beautiful black gates stood tall before then with guards standing at the front, a kingdom behind it awaits them.

The Kingdom of Theos was built with rare materials from the dwarven empire of Murjik so it has quite the rare appearance to it. Black cobblestone with hints of blue decorated across the walls, slowly making up the colors of the flag of Theos.

A flag with a dragon across it with two swords going through it, black dragon, blue swords, and a white background. No one ever said the king has good ideas for his flag but this was the sign that they made it.

"Travelers, how rare. Welcome to the kingdom of Theos." The guard says while standing by.

They noticed Prince Shimada alongside the party.

They don’t seem to be too worried about us for some reason but I guess we didn’t seem like much of a threat.

"Thanks for the welcome." Artemis replies before heading past them.

Past the gates people filled the streets of the kingdom as people flooded the market before them. Beautiful buildings with looks of black and gold stood before them while others had blue and gold.

This was the kingdom of Theos, a kingdom ran by quite the interesting king. King Kuroda, someone Shimada remembers quite well after all these years.

It’s definitely got quite the look to it but I didn’t expect it be this nice, they definitely are trying to look better than Avania. I’m sure it’s going to be quite the challenge to find Isabel in this place if she’s even here.

There’s still two other kingdoms throughout this continent that we have to travel to if she’s not here.

"We’ll stay at the Golden Apple Inn that’s here." Shimada says while looking ahead.

I didn’t know a Golden Apple Inn was here too since we last saw one in Nexus before we left. Are they some sort of world wide inn that is located everywhere?

"That’s odd, I thought they only had one in Nexus." Amelia chimes in.

"They originally started out here in Heartfeld but expanded over time. They’ve got multiple locations across the world." Shimada explains.

That explains a lot, so they were just successful is all it is. I’m glad to hear that this world has something similar to mine when it comes down to businesses.

But at least in this world I won’t be replaced by.... What was I replaced by again? It’s weird but I can’t seem to remember what it was that happened to me in my previous life.

"It’s ahead so we’ll rest there." Shimada says while leading the way once again.

I followed behind him with the rest of the party since he seems to have an idea of where he’s going here. Something caught my attention as we were walking towards the inn though, a girl out of the corner of my eye.
