Reborn After Betrayal: The Frail True Princess Decides to Give Up
Chapter 135 : Tell Me, Who Am I?
With Kristin's movements, densely packed magic runes suddenly appeared, burning Kristin's dirty hands.
Her fingers were covered in wounds, and the fingertips even emitted wisps of smoke from being burned.
However, as if she couldn't feel the pain, Kristin still gripped the bars tightly, screaming hysterically:
"Ariel, you're finally here! Let me out, do you hear me?!"
Kassy couldn't help but step back half a pace, hiding behind Celitia.
Staring fearfully at the disheveled Kristin, Kassy asked tremblingly:
"Is... is she insane?"
While Celitia just stood there in a daze, looking at that dirty face.
Memories from the past flashed through her mind one by one, condensing into ice, then shattering into powder that flew away before her eyes.
What remained in the end was only the heart-wrenching pain that had burst forth from both soul and flesh when her chest was pierced that day.
She thought she had calmly accepted everything and could watch those painful memories fade away. However, it turned out that neither soul nor body had forgotten even a fraction.
She very slowly raised her hand, pressing it to her chest, gripping tightly until even her knuckles turned white.
"Master? Master?"
Not getting a response from Celitia, Kassy couldn't help but shake her shoulder.
As if accidentally touching some fragile statue, Celitia's body swayed weakly, looking like she was about to collapse.
"Lily?"
Sophia rushed over immediately, pushing past Kassy behind her, and quickly wrapped her arms around Celitia's waist, pulling her into her embrace.
The girl's head rested on her shoulder, rising and falling with her breathing, trying to hide that uncontrollable trembling.
"Lily, what's wrong?"
Sophia reached out to grab the hand pressed against her chest, and after some effort, managed to pry open her fingers and hold them in her own palm.
That hand was colder than usual, and she could faintly feel cold sweat in the palm.
Sophia immediately panicked:
"Are you feeling unwell? Is it because the air in the underground prison is too stuffy?"
Celitia took a deep breath, gradually straightening her spine and slowly supporting herself out of Sophia's embrace.
Her lips were three shades paler than usual, trembling slightly as she uttered two words cold as glaciers:
"I'm fine."
Ariel turned around at the sound and glanced at Celitia.
The girl's cheeks were alarmingly pale, her teeth having bitten her lower lip to draw blood.
Her smoke-purple eyes were filled with surging mist, overwhelming and covering all emotions in her heart, unwilling to reveal even the slightest bit.
Ariel was slightly stunned.
What was wrong...
She couldn't understand that kind of gaze.
But for some reason, her heart seemed to ache slightly.
"Are you alright?" Ariel couldn't help but ask with concern.
Sophia explained: "Lily's health has never been good. Perhaps she can't adapt to the underground prison environment..."
"Then don't force yourself," Ariel softened her tone. "If you're feeling unwell, hurry back to the surface."
"I'm fine." Celitia shook her head again.
She stubbornly stepped forward, breaking free from Sophia's supporting hand.
Sophia was stunned, her hands suspended in mid-air. After a long moment, she silently withdrew them.
Looking at Celitia's back, a trace of indescribable loss appeared in Sophia's blue eyes.
As Celitia walked to the prison door, Kristin's clouded gaze also fell on her.
She tilted her head, staring at Celitia in a daze for a while, then suddenly screamed:
"It's you! It's you!!"
Celitia stood quietly before her, like a ethereal ghost that had crawled back from hell.
"It's me?" Celitia asked softly. "Then tell me, who am I?"
Kristin lunged toward Celitia, reaching out to grab her hem, but was shocked by the suddenly appearing magic runes and withdrew her hand in pain.
"Flora! You're Flora!"
Kristin showed her a deranged smile, screaming hysterically: "I know you need me, quickly let me out!"
Celitia's long eyelashes trembled slightly, lowering slightly to cover the frozen frost in her eyes.
For a moment, she actually thought Kristin had recognized her.
But of course, this was impossible.
There was no contract between herself and Kristin like there was with Kassy.
How could she possibly recognize her?
Perhaps she didn't even remember much.
"It's fine, don't take it to heart."
Ariel's voice sounded beside Celitia's ear, her tone slightly low, warm and steady, carrying a hint of comfort.
"She's completely mad. Today she calls you Flora, tomorrow she might mistake you for Alice."
"Who is she?" Sophia asked.
"Right, I forgot to introduce her to you."
Ariel tapped her forehead, looking at the mad woman in the cell with an inevitably emotional tone.
"She is the commander of York Kingdom's Holy Magic Corps, Lady Kristin."
"Kristin?" Sophia gasped, full of disbelief. "How did she become like this?"
Sophia had naturally heard of Kristin's name and even knew that after that jaw-dropping battle several months ago, Kristin had disappeared.
The current mainstream speculation was that Kristin was hiding to avoid responsibility.
Who could have guessed that she would appear so insanely in the underground prison of Cassia Cathedral?
"Who knows?"
Ariel shrugged, her tone also full of incredulity.
"When I was returning, I suddenly received a divine revelation and sent people to search the nearby mountains, and they actually found her. Kristin's condition was so strange that I had no choice but to secretly bring her back."
"Ariel, I remember you, Ariel!"
Kristin's attention returned to Ariel.
She screamed again, violently shaking the bars beside her.
"I tell you, I'm not crazy! Stop playing those despicable tricks, let me out, let's have a fair fight!!"
Kassy leaned closer behind Celitia, curiously poking out half her head.
She carefully observed Kristin, saying weakly:
"She... she seems quite severely insane, but she can still recognize Lady Saintess?"
Kassy was better off not speaking. The moment she spoke, Kristin's attention shifted to her.
Staring intently at Kassy's face, Kristin showed wild joy, her volume suddenly rising an octave:
"Kassy! Perfect timing, take me out of here, I know you can do it!!"
