CHAPTER 1468: CLASH

"Why are you so sad about that, Celes? You don’t want to be part of my family? We’re nice!" Nyx said.

"I-I know, I’m glad..." Celes nodded. "I just... I hope one day we could... U-Um... we could one day... be more than that? Ah, sorry... d-don’t mind that!"

He was such a cute boy, saying such things out of nowhere.

"Hehehe! Really? Hey Celes, do you like me?" Nyx giggled while blushing.

Is he really going to confess right here in this bloody damn forest full of beasts?!

"Haha, I was messing around! Don’t worry!" Nyx giggled, patting his head. "Let’s focus on what’s in front of us, alright?"

"A-Ah! Sure! Yeah!" Celes nodded, looking even more enamored than before.

Geez, these two are just way too cute!

Lucifer wouldn’t have liked this one bit though; he’s an overprotective father.

Good thing he’s not around, or he would’ve interrumpted the kids in their cute moment.

But my cute little Nyx, she’s acted more mature in there, I don’t want to admit it, but she was teasing Celes!

She probably enjoys seeing him embarrassed... I had no idea there was this facet about her!

I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed or something, but more like surprised.

Either way, that was enough, we continued moving forward, and it didn’t take long for us, as we enjoyed the scenery, to get attacked by new Nightmare Beasts.

The Vine was very vocal about alerting us about them.

"GRYYAOOORRR!"

Thorn let out a very loud, monstrous roar, which shook us to the core, and then a few seconds later, giant creatures emerged.

"ROOAAARRR!"

They were Nightmaresaurs as usual!

However, they were different. They were generally larger, covered on red spikes and horns, some even had vines or flowers over their bodies.

Thanks to Thorn, we were able to wait for them and ambush them instead of getting ambushed, using her as a living trap.

She easily dug pitfalls, used her vines and thorns to catch them off guard, and ended paralyzing and trapping around half of the monsters coming our way.

They were around a hundred, maybe a bit more, a manageable amount for us!

"SHYAAAAH!"

Those that got past her were greeted by my Abyssal Barriers, which they ended up hitting very strongly one after another, making themselves bleed.

BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM!

As I broke their momentum, everyone went through the barriers into battle... Or well, those that wanted to fight head-on, others that preferred long-range attacks stayed behind, such as Emeraldine.

"Let’s go Tooth! Full charge! Time to eat souls, heh!"

Partner smiled viciously, as she charged forward on top of Tooth, who moved as quickly as possible, leaping from Nightmaresaur to Nightmaresaur.

Her spears in both of her hands rapidly moved, piercing her foes in the head while Tooth bit them and used his claws to intensify the damage.

His claws carried corrosive nightmare poison, dealing extra damage and worsening wounds over time.

Partner crushed the skulls of dozens of Nightmaresaurs at once, making them drop one after another.

And because she was mounting her familiar, she was enjoying it quite a lot, feeling more relaxed, perhaps.

As she did that, I quickly made it so Tooth could absorb the souls that were wandering around, rapidly beginning to accumulate power rapidly, growing stronger.

The Nightmare Souls of these Nightmaresaurs were very strong and potent, so he was enjoying them very much

"Haaaah!"

Jonathan leaped bravely into the frontlines, swinging his blade against the approaching beasts, and unleashing slashing beams of light from his sword attacks, cutting through them one by one.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

Whenever they attempted to attack him from behind, Shields of Holy Light would quickly manifest around him, protecting him from damage.

While being swarmed by attacks, he released the shields from his body, which were sent shooting at the Nightmaresaurs, before exploding and dealing even more holy damage.

Wow, I didn’t know he could do that! He has gotten pretty good.

"RAAAARRRR!"

Meanwhile, Nyx roared ferociously, transforming into her full dragon form as she took down several Nightmaresaurs on her own.

She rushed down like a meteor from the skies, hitting the beasts with her claws and immense physical power, crushing most of them or weakening them enough for her breath and magic to finish the job for her.

She had become a little killing machine at this point and was very experienced in battle after a long while of fighting and seeing us fight as well.

Her abilities were quite good as well, inheriting both her mother and her father’s draconic abilities and my own necromancy, making her incredibly versatile.

Whenever she got surrounded...

She would turn into her ghostly form and sneak away from the monsters, before administrating some serious blows with her claws and tail, tearing her foes’ defenses without mercy.

"Hehehe!"

As she giggled cutely while in her draconic form, Celes and his mother were rather close by, despite Celes being a magician, he didn’t want to stand in the backlines with Emeraldine and wanted to engage in battle to get better at it and not just be purely a support magician.

His Dream Heart helped at that, the powerful spear released powerful lightning, which he combined with his water magic to create mighty electrified vortexes of water.

"{Thunderous Water Vortex}!"

SPLAAASH! SPLAAASH! SPLAAASH!

With that, he rapidly dispatched a dozen Nightmaresaurs without much difficulty, his mother also followed, moving with emerald winds wrapped around her body, resembling a green blur, as she jumped from place to place, administrating a series of piercing blows with her golden, thunderous spear.

The combination of mother and son was as strong as ever! I couldn’t quite feel happier to see them fighting on their own and at this level, these Nightmaresaurs were all at least at the A+++ Rank level compared to Yggdrasil’s monsters, this just shows how far they’ve come.
