Reborn as a Hatrack in the Mystical Land
Chapter 378 - 23: Defeat the Enemy, Old Kulu’s Burst Skill
CHAPTER 378: CHAPTER 23: DEFEAT THE ENEMY, OLD KULU’S BURST SKILL
I thought that by quickly escaping the Heavenly Pit, I could be safe. However, just as Yue Jinghua raised her Great Sword and ran wildly, thinking she had escaped to safety, there was a disturbance behind her. She turned her head to look and nearly stumbled and rolled down the mountain.
"That’s cheating, the one with more legs bullying the one with fewer legs," Yue Jinghua cried in her heart. How had she become so entangled with running... no, fleeing for her life today, first being pursued to death by the Monster Snowflake Bull, and now relentlessly chased by this abnormal earthworm."
Just a few meters away from Yue Jinghua, hundreds of tentacle-like legs beneath the Centipede Worm were rolling like flowing water.
This significantly increased the speed of the Centipede Worm, and even when Yue Jinghua used the Small Cloud Trace Steps, she could only barely maintain some distance from it.
On the way from the mountaintop to the mid-mountain farm, Yue Jinghua’s heels were hit several times by the poisonous fog sprayed by the Centipede Worm due to breathing and taking Elixir Pills to restore strength.
Although she had reached the outskirts of the Mazaro Farm, the Centipede Worm showed no signs of giving up, while Yue Jinghua was already panting and exhausted. If this went on, she would really be swallowed by this beast.
Should she hide in the Star Sea or head straight down the mountain?
If she heads down the mountain, Old Kuru will be furious upon waking tomorrow and not finding her, and they might even mess up her mission.
Hide in the Star Sea?
No, she was now close to the Mazaro Breeding Farm, and Yue Jinghua could even hear the roosters crowing inside the farm.
If she hid in the Star Sea and her presence suddenly vanished, the Centipede Worm that had been tracking her would surely go into a fury, and being hungry, it might even attack the breeding farm.
She thought of Old Kuru’s fierce yet forceful feeding of milk liquor into her mouth, Granny Madan’s kind face and warm words, all these scenes alternately appeared in her mind.
"Let’s fight, regardless of its invulnerability, I’ll flatten it," a surge of wrath rose in Yue Jinghua’s heart, she was unwilling and disdainful of involving others in this trouble.
Yue Jinghua unsheathed her sword, and the light from it poured out like moonlight, casting myriad sword shadows as it struck towards the Centipede Worm behind her.
"Hum," as the Lianyun Great Sword hit the Centipede Worm’s head, the Worm twisted its body and charged towards her.
When the sword collided with the Centipede Worm, sparks flew like metal striking stone in a series of bright flashes.
The Centipede Worm was pushed back several steps by the force of Yue Jinghua’s sword, but its skin remained intact without any visible damage, while Yue Jinghua felt a severe pain in her wrist and almost lost her grip on the Great Sword.
It was truly invulnerable. Yue Jinghua’s face grew grim.
Should she use the Divine Stab or the Devil’s Eye?
But the monster’s spiritual power seemed strong, the Divine Stab likely couldn’t repel it, and the Devil’s Eye might not have a deterring effect either.
The wind howled through the mountains, and within Yue Jinghua’s existence as the Second Primordial Spirit, her heart was like beating drums, incessant and unrelenting.
Her heartbeat quickened; she had faced countless enemies, never having felt as helpless as she did tonight, even when faced with hundreds of United States special forces.
The opponent was like an impenetrable iron barrel.
What would happen if her Second Primordial Spirit was damaged?
Qing Pu’s indifferent reminder came to her ears: "The Second Primordial Spirit is a part of your soul, crucial in its purpose. If damaged, the pain would be excruciating, not to mention your Cultivation would significantly decrease."
"Huff," before her, the Centipede Worm charged like a swift tornado, attacking towards where Yue Jinghua stood.
Sky Splitting, I can only use the Sky Splitting technique now.
The eyes of Yue Jinghua turned red due to anger and unwillingness.
She will not be defeated, nor will she submit; even with the last glimmer of hope, she’s determined to fight.
"Kill," just like a trapped beast fighting at its last moment, Yue Jinghua clenched the Great Sword in her hand, as its blade shone brilliantly and the Crystal Stones on the Cloud Gathering Sword emitted a stinging light.
Just as Yue Jinghua was about to go all out with the Centipede Worm, a figure, faster than the wind and more fierce than lightning, swooped in with a whirl.
All that could be heard was a bell-like bellow descending from the sky: "Beast, how dare you trespass on my farm!"
That was the voice of Old Kuru.
Yue Jinghua’s heart jolted, seeing Old Kuru descend like a tiger leaping down the mountain, not even wielding a weapon, as he charged at the Centipede Worm with bare hands.
"No," Yue Jinghua knew well the ferocity of the Centipede Worm; though Old Kuru was a former Imperial Soldier with some skill, he was no match for this Eighth Rank Peak Dark Insect with its impenetrable skin.
If Old Kuru died, what about Granny Madan?
Yue Jinghua didn’t dare to think further. She was annoyed with herself; if it wasn’t for her greed for that mysterious force and recklessly fleeing down the mountain, Old Kuru wouldn’t have been alerted by the noise and come running out.
They had been living in the mountains for so long, never having a conflict with the Centipede Worm—it was her arrival that had drawn this monster.
Yue Jinghua could not hesitate any longer and immediately went forward with her sword, trying to divert the Centipede Worm.
But just then, something more shocking than the discovery of the Centipede Worm occurred.
Old Kuru soared forward and crimson Dark Energy surged from his arms and legs.
That Dark Energy was as chilling as Fire and as fierce as an axe, striking the Centipede Worm head on.
"Boom boom boom---"
Old Kuru’s limbs rained down like a storm, striking several vital points on the Centipede Worm’s body. When making direct contact, they exploded like small neutron bombs, layers of red Dark Power fluctuated, twisting the night wind and the air, deforming them.
From the outskirts of the farm, a red light filled the area, and the strong Dark Power hit like a wave; the air seemed ignited, turning scorching hot.
Although the Centipede Worm’s tough hide was not torn open, it let out a scream of utter agony.
It was flung away, and several dents appeared on its barrel-sized body as it writhed painfully on the ground.
Grasses and rocks were crushed into powder under its struggle, and after a while, the Centipede Worm no longer dared to linger, curling up and swiftly climbing toward the top of the mountain.
"Blind creature, dare to come again and I will beat you every time I see you. This old man’s limbs are not yet rusty," Old Kuru drew back his fists, and spat in the direction where the Centipede Worm escaped, as if nothing had happened.
With eagle-like eyes, he glanced in the direction where Yue Jinghua’s Primordial Spirit was, then leisurely strolled toward the small wooden hut where Yue Jinghua was staying.
In the hut, a figure lying on the bed let out faint snoring sounds.
Seeing this, Old Kuru scratched his head in confusion, muttering to himself: "Could I have heard wrong? Nevermind, it’s just a fledgling chap. He couldn’t possibly stir up much trouble anyway."
