Reborn as a Hatrack in the Mystical Land
Chapter 382 - 27: Half-Beast Girl
CHAPTER 382: CHAPTER 27: HALF-BEAST GIRL
The night was deep, just past noon, when a delicate new moon like the tips of a young girl’s brow hung high in the skies, with a few lonely stars twinkling unwillingly.
In a corner of the Mazaro Breeding Farm, the gnashing sounds unique to a Dark Beast devouring its meal could be heard—upon close listening, it was someone desperately hungry, consuming meat.
A Snowflake Cattle was being devoured at a speed almost impossible to predict by the naked eye, with no human figure in front of the herd.
Only a pair of slender, pale to the point of sickly hands could be seen flailing, with fresh, still-bleeding beef being rapidly sliced from the body of the Snowflake Cattle.
Blood water kept dripping onto the ground—this cattle thief didn’t even bother to use fire, and instead directly consumed the raw meat.
It? Seemed famished, continuously gobbling down the raw beef.
The Snowflake Cattle meat from the Mazaro Breeding Farm was infused with abundant nutrients and energy; although the taste of raw meat paled in comparison to cooked beef, for it? whose life was in peril, it? would even swallow maggots, as long as it could survive.
Suddenly, it? ceased its gnawing and looked neurotically behind itself.
It? seemed to sense a breeze blowing from behind, and for some reason, there was always the delusion of being watched.
Turning back around, the only sight was rows of newly sprouted marshweed, the barren farm with not a soul in sight.
It? Knew that two individuals lived on this farm.
An old lady with a kind face and a young boy who wasn’t very old—news of the disappearance of the Snowflake Cattle had already been discovered.
After gulping down a chunk of beef still warm from the Snowflake Cattle’s body, it? wiped its mouth with the back of its hand. That old lady seemed to be an ordinary person, but that boy...
He was troublesome.
It? Thought that on the Eastern Continent, there was no better master of concealment than itself; yet that boy, looking no more than seventeen or eighteen, very nearly forced it? to reveal itself last night.
He was like a night leopard lying in wait, seamlessly blending into the dark night, sharp and dangerous, with his keen eyes scouting every corner of the breeding farm. If it? didn’t have a Transmission Array at its disposal, it? would have likely been captured alive last night.
Under no circumstances could it fall into the hands of a Dark Practitioner; otherwise, it?’s secret would be exposed.
Carefully licking the flesh off its fingers, it? tossed the cattle bones aside.
It? could feel that continuously feasting on Snowflake Cattle meat was helping its excessively bleeding body recover quite a bit; it was time to leave the farm and head to the mountaintop.
Like the day it arrived, it? traversed the farm like a ghost, making its way to the side of the farm’s Defensive Dark Array.
Stretching out its hand, still tinged with blood red, it? pierced the sturdy Defensive Dark Array as if bursting through a sheet of paper, creating a large rip.
Just as it? was about to break through the Dark Array and leave the breeding farm, it?’s collar was suddenly grabbed.
Grabbed?!
Seemingly unable to believe that it?, even in a state of concealment, could be caught, it? made an attempt to struggle.
The hand behind it unceremoniously slammed it down with force.
This slam was harsh, and with a earsplitting noise upon impact, the moonlight revealed a black-haired short-haired girl.
Her eyes wide in terror, she held a snake-shaped scepter in her hand, her gaze incredulously fixed on what lay before her.
A languid voice echoed around, "Turns out to be an Array Master, and even a master of Concealing Arrays at that."
The girl’s attire was somewhat strange, a set of bat-black short vest and shorts. She was young, at most around the same age as Yue Jinghua, with fair skin, and a stature of only about 1.5 meters tall.
Yue Jinghua’s fall broke through her Concealment Dark Array, revealing her true form.
But what surprised Yue Jinghua was that the girl had a pair of blood-red pupils, and her ears were not of the normal human shape, but pointed like those of some Dark Beasts.
Also, when she roared in anger, she bared two sharp tiger teeth from her mouth.
Such a look made Yue Jinghua think of a word, vampire?
Wrong, there were neither vampires nor the Blood Clan on Dragon Road, so what was the origin of this girl before her eyes?
Just as surprised as Yue Jinghua was the girl who had been thrown to the ground. She roared angrily while watchfully scanning her surroundings.
She initially thought her enemies had caught up with her, but soon realized she couldn’t see anything.
No one was there, not even a shadow, as if being violently thrown was just her illusion.
"Damn, what the hell is this," almost simultaneously, the girl on the ground and Yue Jinghua blurted out curses.
Both were taken aback again, the voice of the other party made each of them realize that there was indeed a living person before them.
"Ouch," cried the girl in pain, her ear was being held.
From the strength of the grip, it was clearly the person who had just grabbed her collar causing mischief.
"Wow, these ears really feel real, could you be the legendary Ban Beastman who has long disappeared from the continent? This is a big find; get a cage, lock you up, and tour the entire continent for performances, that could be a tidy sum," someone became excited at the thought of money.
Unexpectedly catching a beastman instead of a thief, Yue Jinghua, who was still unaware that she was in her Second Primordial Spirit state, was thrilled.
Beastmen, or rather the Half-human Race, as she had heard from Qing Pu once or twice, were a race with a history almost as ancient as the Summoners.
Most of them have part human appearance but also possess excellent talents not found in humans, often with one or two astounding talents that humans have long lost.
This young girl, although young, would have surely escaped had Yue Jinghua not been trailing her all this way and had the Second Primordial Spirit for cover.
What’s more, the girl was also an Array Master, one able to understand Transmission Arrays and break High-level Dark Arrays.
"Lock up, for a tour?"
Yue Jinghua’s words, when heard by the bat-shaped girl’s ears, caused her whole body to tremble.
This voice?!
The girl immediately realized, she recognized this voice, wasn’t this the voice of the young man who had been lurking at the breeding farm these last few days?
She clearly remembered him squatting outside the cattle pen last night, cursing her to death.
"You bastard, let go of me," after recalling the meaning behind Yue Jinghua’s words, the girl was so angry that she cursed out loud, revealing her sharp Liao teeth; however, she couldn’t find Yue Jinghua’s whereabouts.
Just as Yue Jinghua was considering how to deal with the Half-beast Girl, outside the breeding farm, a blaze shot up to the sky, followed by the clatter of a large troop of soldiers or Dark Beasts, as if a large army was marching towards the breeding farm.
Upon hearing the sounds, the girl stopped struggling, a look of panic appeared in her eyes.
