CHAPTER 1044: CHAPTER 1044: SHE’S POSSESSED?!

"Alright. You may go now," Ferdinand sighed deeply and finally allowed her to go.

They went in opposite directions to complete their next plan.

Ferdinand went to the training grounds while Arabella headed to the dungeons.

It would have been a long walk to the underground dungeons if not for Alwin’s teleportation. Thanks to his magic, Arabella did not have to walk down the steep stairs in her heels.

Further, it’s not like Ferdinand would allow her to go into the underground dungeons if she had to walk in these. It was already a given that Alwin would teleport her there. Thus, she didn’t even break a sweat, and they were already in one of the deepest parts of the dungeon, reserved for the worst criminals.

The Former Queen was imprisoned here by the twin siblings for her to experience the pain that the slaves and the people she had imprisoned unjustly experienced. However, the queen did not even suffer for long because she could not accept this reality. Her sanity did not last. She went insane after she realized Crux was utterly defeated and her fate was sealed.

The twins wished for the Former Queen to have suffered more, but there was nothing they could do anymore now that the latter had decided to live in her fantasies of victory instead.

Before they entered the cell where the Former Queen was imprisoned, Arabella said to Alwin and Rendell, "Don’t tell Ferdinand what I’m about to do. I asked him to leave exactly because I didn’t want him to see this."

The two looked troubled since Ferdinand had just asked them earlier to hold Arabella to her promise.

"Why? What exactly will you do?" Alwin frowned.

"Don’t worry, it does not violate my promise to Ferdinand. I just didn’t want him to see this because I’m going to act crazy," Arabella clarified.

"Crazy? You mean insane like the Former Queen?" Alwin further knitted his brows to the point they almost met into a straight line. He didn’t want to break his word to Ferdinand after recently holding back something important from him.

"Yes. One has to be crazy and villainous to extract information from another crazy person," Arabella smirked.

[Ah, is she going to act like her former self?] Alwin finally understood what she meant.

"Alright," Alwin agreed.

[Crazy? What does she mean?] Rendell could not picture Arabella acting as one.

"Don’t worry, Rendell. Don’t overthink it. Just pretend like you did not see or hear any of the things I’ll do next,’’ Arabella said, so Rendell would stop trying to picture it when his image of her was also close to that of Ferdinand’s.

"Then, as long as it doesn’t break your promise to His Majesty, I won’t reveal it either." Rendell then nodded and agreed, even though he was still unsure of what she meant.

"Thank you!"

Arabella then asked Alwin to change her appearance, along with how her entire get-up appeared to others, so the Former Queen wouldn’t recognize her.

Alwin and Rendell were to remain invisible so it would seem like she was alone in her visit.

They then entered the Former Queen’s cell.

Arabella spoke to the Former Queen and asked questions like how she was doing now and how she felt. She acted normally, like this was just another normal day and conversation instead of an interrogation.

The Former Queen responded to Arabella and told her that she was feeling great because of their victory against Valeria.

The Former Queen was indeed living in her fantasies that Crux had won the war, and she was still the Queen being served by people. That she was receiving a lot of praise and applause for winning a war against Valeria.

Arabella did not act crazy, so Rendell wondered what they had to hide from Ferdinand in this.

Rendell was confused since this seemed like just another normal visit. Except that Arabella asked nicely instead of interrogating the queen immediately.

But when Arabella’s demeanor suddenly changed and she acted like she was possessed by another person, Rendell was alarmed and glanced at Alwin in panic, thinking someone had taken over Arabella’s body.

Alwin simply smiled and said telepathically, { This is what she was talking about earlier. I’ve told you all before the wedding, she’s not as sweet and innocent as she looks.}

Alwin had been the only one among Ferdinand’s people who was heavily against Ferdinand’s marriage to Arabella. Back then, he did not have his memories of the past yet, but he believed humans did not deserve Ferdinand, and he knew Ferdinand was never interested in women, so he thought a spell must have been used on him. But after time reversed, Alwin knew fully that Ferdinand truly loved Arabella, so he stopped saying something against her since it would only anger Ferdinand. And Alwin knew by now that no words from him would stop Ferdinand from loving Arabella after he chose her, no matter what in their past life.

Rendell blinked twice in disbelief as he gawked at Arabella, who was currently speaking like another insane and villainous person, and was suddenly getting along with the Former Queen.

Arabella was praising the latter for her "great" deeds and achievements, and even asking for tips as if the Former Queen was some sage.

{I...I see...} Rendell was too shocked that it was hard for him to process what was going on.

A few minutes later....

Arabella’s talk with the Former Queen was proceeding smoothly.

{What just happened?!! Was that truly Her Majesty?!! Are we sure she was not possessed by someone else?!!} Rendell asked Alwin again.

When Arabella escalated her acting, Rendell was so astounded and shocked by her words that he thought it was no longer acting. That she might have been possessed!

{She’s just acting. Let’s wait and see what happens next.} Alwin remained calm.

{Are you sure?!} Rendell was worried that if this lasted for too long and Arabella was indeed possessed, it might be difficult to get her back.

{Yes. Rest assured, if I felt another soul enter this space, I would imprison it immediately,} Alwin responded.
