CHAPTER 314: SABOTAGING SOMEONE’S HAPPINESS [BONUS CHAPTER]

Since Lucille was feeling so miserable after everything, she would make sure those who caused it won’t be happy either.

And yet, she failed repeatedly.

First, she leaked information about Arabella having a tea party with them.

This was to embarrass Arabella. To show her face twisted with fear, sadness, or disgust about becoming the wife of a murderer who surely treated her badly.

Even before the Assembly began, there were rumors roaming about in secret among royals that as expected, Arabella was not treated well by the Dark Emperor.

He went to the borders just a month after their wedding and never returned. Instead, he went to an even farther part of the Empire.

It was clear he only married Arabella because she was said to be the fairest maiden in Eliora. He simply wanted to be the gentleman who got that lady.

All the good things Lucille’s mother said were probably lies Arabella made, since she had no choice but to protect the honor of Valeria among other Queens.

But with the young ladies who were more free-spirited, there was one or two bound to slip up and ask terrible things.

Lucille grinned as the interest of the princesses and young noble ladies got the best of them and asked Arabella all sorts of questions that would surely make her feel terrible and uncomfortable.

And yet, all words that Arabella said about her husband were good. She was even acting like she was so proud of him. And she was all smiles. She said her husband never mistreated her and gave her the best treatment in Valeria.

How is that possible?! Wasn’t he a cruel man who mercilessly slaughtered even women and children?

Ah, Arabella must be faking it. Just like Andrew, Arabella must be making it look like she was happy with her husband so she would be able to hide her real feelings. And that she was having an affair with Andrew.

Yes, that must be it. Lucille may have failed to embarrass her but she would expose them for sure.

When Andrew first dared to dance with Arabella at the ball, Lucille was sure. They were simply trying to hide they still had a relationship. But look at them smiling at each other. They were still in love.

But why was the Dark Emperor always looking at Arabella?

Ah, did she seduce him already? She managed to make that cruel person become a lovelorn man?

It seems Arabella was even better of a temptress than she thought. How could she make that powerful and evil person submit to her?

Then, an idea came to Lucille’s mind. If the Dark Emperor already likes Arabella, then Lucille could simply use that against her.

Lucille planned it thoroughly. She would ruin both Andrew and Arabella’s marriages by exposing their affair. It would heavily impact their reputation as well. Good for them. They deserved it.

She even took the risk of threatening Beth and making Julia seem like the culprit in case Beth was caught.

And yet, all of it failed simply because the wine was changed too soon even though Andrew liked drinking wine.

Carmella laughed at Lucille for her failure.

Thus, Lucille challenged Carmella to show her worth if she had something to brag about. Carmella then said she would try to seduce Arabella’s husband.

She didn’t understand how this bitch was able to tell, but Carmella said the Dark Emperor didn’t look like he had much experience with women. Thus, he would be easier to tempt.

But even Carmella failed and almost got herself killed. She looked so terrified that she didn’t even like talking about it. She was threatened by Arabella’s knight.

A knight who was said to be one of the most trusted subjects of the Dark Emperor. He sent one of his most trusted people to guard Arabella.

How nice would it be to be her? Everyone is to her bidding.

Lucille was still planning on her next step when all of a sudden, Arabella was poisoned. And just a few hours after, Risa, one of her trusted maids, was caught as the primary suspect.

Lucille spoke with her maid. Risa was crying and swore she did no such thing. She had no reason to do so either.

But Risa was already the primary suspect. If Risa would be executed as the culprit, Lucille was likely to be punished as the mastermind since Risa was her maid.

She had to find the culprit or else she would be punished instead.

Trying to search for clues, she spoke with Carmella. But even Carmella knew an assassination attempt was too dangerous. It wasn’t her either.

Though Carmella liked seducing Arabella’s suitors, she doesn’t really hate Arabella or anything. She even truly cared about Arabella. She simply had a weird taste.

Meanwhile, it was true that Lucille hated Arabella and cursed her a lot, but she wasn’t into committing murder. Sure she had done all sorts of things but having someone assassinated was on a whole new level. She never even thought of having Arabella killed.

And she wasn’t an idiot to do something as dangerous as killing a royal. Even if she had the protection of Obrusca, she could still be easily assassinated by Lobelius or Valeria.

But before Lucille could find the real culprit, every piece of evidence was already pointing to Risa, and thus, also her.

Even her father was horrified but he believed in Lucille when she promised she had no part in it.

Lucille knew she was also being framed. But she needed evidence to prove it. Yet, she could not find any.

Worst yet, she got summoned to the mansion the Valerian delegates were staying at.

Lucille had to wonder if it was her time to die. None of her wishes and been fulfilled and yet, she might not get out of that mansion alive.

She thought she was going alone but thankfully, her parents went with her. Even her mother’s presence which she began to hate felt somewhat reassuring for the first time in years.
