Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 337: Evania
CHAPTER 337: EVANIA
"There’s another continent?!" Arabella gawked at Alwin after he told her there was another place like Estrella where long-lived races lived.
’Estrella was already such a powerful force. And yet, there was another continent where the long-lived races thrive?!’
If they decided to attack, could humanity even survive? Most humans no longer believe that long-lived races exist.
Arabella couldn’t help but think about all sorts of things since she was still human after all.
But that’s not what she should worry about now. Yet, she was still curious about them. The unknown does keep picking one’s interest.
"What is that continent called? What kind of long-lived races live there?" Arabella decided to inquire. Alwin might just be generous with her and give her some more information.
However, things weren’t that easy.
"I cannot tell Your Majesty about such details yet. I haven’t gotten permission. I shall tell you once permission is granted," Alwin denied.
[Most of what I know about it was from books and what my elders told me. It wasn’t until I had to dig about her maid that I learned more about it from experience.]
’Oh, such a pity. I wanted to know more about it.’
But Arabella didn’t push since Alwin might get punished if he told her something he was not yet supposed to reveal.
It may be part of the rules since even Ferdinand did not tell her about the existence of another continent where long-lived races live.
Alwin did tell her that just like Estrella, the said continent was not accessible to humans unless they were given special permissions just like Arabella was. She was allowed to be in Estrella because she was Ferdinand’s spouse and mate.
Alwin said the continent had long been separated from the rest of the world so the long-lived races with different living requirements could thrive there with what they needed.
Further, cases of long-lived races escaping the said continent, if they were not allowed to be, were not that common. It was a rare occurrence.
The one inside Renee was only able to do so since she was apparently that powerful. This was why Alwin was worried Renee might be able to use her abilities and magic unconsciously.
Her body was left in the continent but she still knew the spells so she could cast it. Renee’s body had low mana, but the spells could still be dangerous to Arabella who knew nothing about magic.
The one inside Renee also had inborn skills which she might still be able to use even with the necessity of her original body.
Meanwhile, that entity’s body was akin to a person, who, in human terms was spirited away somewhere. She was unconscious in their abode while her soul was living as Renee here with them.
"Do you know her name at least, so we know what we can call her?" Arabella inquired and Alwin was silent for a few seconds pondering whether he should tell her or not.
[It should be alright if I do not tell her the full name.]
"Evania. Her name is Evania. People close to her call her Eva or Eve," Alwin decided to tell her since ’Renee’ herself doesn’t recall it anyway.
"Evania? What a beautiful name!" Arabella liked ’Renee’s’ real name. "Eva or Eve does sound like Evelyn. Could it be among the reasons she was attached to being the late Evelyn?"
"Yes, perhaps it was among the reasons why," Alwin agreed.
[There was a point she began having dreams about her original memories, but she mistook her original name as nothing but another nickname. She thought she was only having weird dreams.]
’How did Alwin know about all this in the past life? During the time I thought he was dead, was he investigating her in secret and gathered all this? But how would he know even about Renee’s dreams when he only revealed himself to Renee at the magic tower.’
Alwin knew a bit too much. It was as if he had questioned Renee, or rather Evania, herself and got the answers he needed after long hours of interrogation.
Arabella didn’t have dreams about her past life again, so she didn’t know what happened after Ferdinand and Alwin tried to revive her.
Were the trials given right then and there?
Or did Ferdinand have to take some time to complete the trial? Was he alone or was Alwin with him?
Perhaps, Ferdinand did the trials alone and Alwin had the chance to do other things while waiting for him.
’Maybe he interrogated Evania at that time? Ah, wait. No, didn’t he burn Renee’s body that time? Did he imprison Evania’s soul or kill her in Renee’s body?’
Arabella could still recall the blue fire Alwin used to incinerate Renee’s body to nothingness.
The information Alwin had told her so far made her wonder. Alwin seems to know a lot about Evania. Arabella wanted to get a peek into his mind, but he avoided eye contact as he diverted the conversation.
[I can’t tell her any more than this. If she learns too much, she might only end up confused with all this.]
"Your Majesty, I have to get going for now. Let’s talk about this again sometime when we have ample time on our hands," Alwin asked permission to leave for a bit to assign someone to watch Renee closely.
"Oh, right. Yes, of course," Arabella had no choice but to agree since ensuring Renee doesn’t do anything yet takes priority. She could ask Alwin for more information later when he feels like telling her more.
Riley appeared in Alwin’s place the instant he vanished.
Meanwhile, Arabella was left wondering what kind of life Evania lived in her original abode. She experienced so much suffering because she escaped. Was life in that other continent so bad she had to leave despite the risks? Or she had to leave because of something?
Alwin did say Evania run away from her fate, so she suffered someone else’s.
Arabella wondered what that was about. Alwin seemed to know about what it was.
