CHAPTER 341: DON’T YOU MISS ME TOO [BONUS CHAPTER]

Ferdinand caressed her cheek and gave her another peck. Kissing her did seem to calm him down. He wasn’t as irked as earlier.

"I miss you so much after being in those nasty meetings. I missed you even more after that bastard spoke to me," Ferdinand embraced her and inhaled her hair.

"Did he say something else to you?" Arabella wrapped her arms around her husband’s neck.

"No," Ferdinand looked away before answering her. He lied.

[I’ll have to kill him with my own hands someday. How dare he have such lustful thoughts over my pure wife. And he even asked me if he could take her himself. I’m going to kill him!!!]

’I’m no longer pure though.’

Arabella cupped Ferdinand’s face with both hands so he would look her in the eye. She was wide-eyed when she saw from Ferdinand’s eyes.

Chester asked Ferdinand if he didn’t like flowers. Chester said he loved them, so he could take the ’lily’ (Arabella) instead if Ferdinand was just keeping her for display purposes.

’No wonder Ferdinand was so irked. How can Chester be so rude and audacious when he came here to Eliora to talk about being allies? Valeria is Eliora’s strongest military force.’

Arabella could think of no other reason but knowing the value of Zygos’ strategic location. Chester was maximizing it in whatever way he can, even in his philandering habits. He was full of himself because he knew Eliora would grab this opportunity to be allied with Zygos and make Zygos owe them.

Ferdinand held back his anger since it was agreed upon during the meetings with the kings that they would ally with Zygos since Griffith had already agreed to protect Zygos.

If they left Zygos alone, it could ally with Griffith and eventually become a part of it. Meaning, Griffith would grow immensely more powerful with such a strategic location on their side.

Eliora cannot allow that to happen. Thus, they had to protect Zygos against Fynnia and also prevent it from becoming a part of Griffith.

Ferdinand was fine on his own, he could fight with Chester and easily kill him. But he cannot recklessly put his men into wars. He was an Emperor, so he still had to watch his actions. He may seem like a reckless warmonger to other kingdoms, but in fact, Ferdinand knows how to hold back when he had to. He knew that his knights also had to rest and be with their families.

It was simply a human thing to Ferdinand before. He does it because it was what he had seen humans do generations ago. It was also what his advisors tell him.

Because he’s a dragon in a human body he had specially trained to be able to perform his fighting abilities, Ferdinand might not feel exhausted easily, but his knights do.

A war with both Fynnia and Griffith meant continuous wars that could span for ten years or more. Even if they had all the resources they needed, the knights would get exhausted physically and mentally.

His human knights may get high from their former continuous victories, but they still had to rest or else one loss and their morale might rapidly drop, and they will feel the exhaustion gathered from the previous wars.

Ferdinand was sturdy and strong, so he was being careful of his knights which, for him were still very much weak.

’He’s actually quite thoughtful. It just wasn’t that obvious before since he didn’t talk much in the past,’ Arabella thought.

"Don’t you miss me too?" her husband inquired.

"We were just apart for a few hours," Arabella replied. Her husband pouted, and Arabella couldn’t help but giggle since he looked quite cute.

"It was ten hours, fifty-five minutes, and 58 seconds," Ferdinand grumbled. He trapped her in his arms and hugged her tight again.

They had breakfast early in the morning and parted shortly after. Now it was almost dinner.

[I have been aching to see her every second that passes but she didn’t miss me at all? I have just marked her. Shouldn’t she still be longing for me since we haven’t gone all the way yet? Raymond said that was how it works so I should go all the way with her soon. This damned Assembly needs to be over and done with. But why does she seem to be perfectly fine even if I’m away from her? I thought she shouldn’t like staying far away for too long.]

’The distance from the main halls of Grand Palace and this mansion isn’t that far away,’ Arabella wanted to say. She was still able to sense Ferdinand’s presence, so it was probably why she was fine.

Marking her made Arabella able to feel Ferdinand’s presence from quite a good distance. Thus, she didn’t miss him that much. Especially since she knew she would be able to spend the night with him later.

She did want to have lunch with him, but they didn’t get the chance to do so since they were both busy. And she did miss him too, especially after a tiring day of meetings. They were actually the same. But he must have missed her much more than she did him since he was already saying it.

"Mmph," Arabella hit her husband’s back when his embrace became too tight, she couldn’t breathe. She might just suffocate to death against his chest. She can’t even speak with him pressing her head.

She was just enjoying the suffocating feeling of a hug so tight earlier. But she was beginning to lose air, so she was hitting his back now.

"I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to do it twice. Are you alright?"

Arabella turned her back to him.

[She’s angry?!]

"Just hug me like this so you can do it as tight as you want," she instructed.

Her husband happily obliged and wrapped his arms tight from behind. Even her arms were locked in his embrace.

Ferdinand settled his chin on her shoulder.

"See? Isn’t this better?"

"Yes. So much better," Ferdinand inhaled at her hair and kissed her nape.
