Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 800: Haven’t Seen The Worst Yet
CHAPTER 800: CHAPTER 800: HAVEN’T SEEN THE WORST YET
Her assistants were shocked to see the three of them would truly be helping as well.
They thought they would be monitoring and directing.
Arabella’s maids chuckled since they had already seen this before and they were as shocked as her assistants at first. They were glad to see they were not the only ones who had the same reaction.
The knights here were mostly knights who went with her and Ferdinand in Safiro so they had already seen Arabella help like this and were no longer surprised.
"Alright, go to work now, here they come," Arabella said when she saw Prudencians begin to enter from the designated doors connected to the changing rooms next door.
"Yes, Your Majesty," her assistants would be lining up and distributing food for those who still feel weak and dizzy from hunger, which was most of the Prudencians.
Arabella’s assistants realized why a lot of people were needed to assist here.
The sight of the gaunt, malnourished, and frail Prudencians already made her assistants falter. She knew it was right to make them help here where they would not see the Prudencians’ condition when they were just brought here.
The ones they were seeing were already cleaned up, dressed, and healed. Their eyes already had hope in their eyes.
It was a stark contrast to what they looked like when they just arrived. And yet, this was already shocking her assistants.
Thankfully, they regained their composure after a few moments and began doing their tasks to assist when they saw everyone else moving.
After all, even if the Prudencians were already healed from their wounds and injuries, their hunger from being starved was still there so they were assisted by the knight to their chairs.
The food was not placed on their tables before they arrived to prevent them from suspecting it was poisoned.
The rescued Prudencians were still wary and fearful due to how they were treated in Crux so they were doing this to help ease their worry and help them relax so they could eat as they please.
Thus, the food was only served once they were there to see it.
Her assistants were even more shocked as they saw the Prudencians cry in happiness from seeing warm clean food for the first time in a while.
The knights even had to remind them to eat slowly and carefully since there was a lot of food.
The rescued Prudencians could not stop their tears even as they continued to eat their food and happily glanced around looking at the many Prudencians like them who were also rescued were finally also eating well and had no restrictions on their bodies.
Even Narcissa, who did not like commoners that much, could not help her tears and cried several times. Since she was raised in a good environment, she could not believe that there were people this gaunt and frail due to lack of nutrition.
Arabella was glad to see that Narcissa could still be sympathetic. She knew the latter could still change and improve. She simply needed to see that not everyone was as lucky as she was.
Serving food went smoothly and her assistants here did not make any mistakes.
They were very much careful since for most of them except for Ronald, this was their first task aside from their regular task in the office.
Once Arabella saw all the Prudencians who could walk were seated and eating, she went back to the room where Nadia was.
For those who were still sick, food was brought to their rooms by magicians and knights who had experience in helping feed the sickly.
Nadia remained there since she knew how to help feed them and was fine with helping so closely even with spoon feeding them.
Once Arabella ensured they were all eating as well, she finally went to the fourth room right in time when some Prudencians had begun going there after they were done eating and resting.
The Prudencians were elated to see Odette and that she was among those who would be speaking with them.
The rescued Prudencians were relieved to know that Odette and her siblings were alive. After all, at the time they were brought out of Prudencia, there were rumors that the royal family might not even be alive anymore and Marquess Gulliver was simply controlling everything.
The Prudencia Palace was locked up back then and no one was allowed in so there was no news about those who were inside.
Thus, the Prudencians were grateful that Odette and her siblings were alive and well and that Prudencia was finally a safe place again and they did not have to worry about getting smuggled to another kingdom again.
Arabella continued monitoring the situation in various rooms until before she knew it, it was already dawn.
She checked on her assistants and saw them all exhausted except for Nadia and Odette who were still energetic. She left the two to continue working as they pleased.
Meanwhile, she called the others so they could rest.
The mental stress from the condition of the rescued Prudencians they saw were heavy on them.
"You all did well tonight," Arabella praised them.
"Did we?" they asked in an unsure voice.
"Of course. All of you did your best and did not make any mistakes. I am also happy to see that you easily sympathized with them," Arabella assured them.
She was most impressed with Narcissa’s behavior this time so she patted her back gently.
"Will you be able to sleep?" Arabella inquired and Narcissa shook her head and began to be teary-eyed again.
[How can I sleep after seeing that? They all looked like they were about to die. How canI forget those faces?! They were so overjoyed eating a very simple meal too as if it would be their last meal.] Narcissa thought.
"What about you?" Arabella eyed her male assistants and they all looked away.
They would all be unable to sleep. And they haven’t seen the worst yet.
