Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 816: A Body Prepared for the Worst
CHAPTER 816: CHAPTER 816: A BODY PREPARED FOR THE WORST
Alwin had already filled several small containers while they were talking.
"Just ignore it. It’s for my experiments," Alwin defended.
"Argh! This nutcase! Heal it right now. You think I can just watch Your Highness bleed for much longer. I’m feeling so compelled to heal it and I can hear so clearly every drip of your blood. Just seeing it is already making me furious!" Zion scolded.
The blood of the royal elves are very important to every elf especially after the Great War when only so few family members of the royal family were left.
Thus, listening and seeing it drip into glass containers was inciting anger deep inside Zion even if he was trying to be calm about it.
He understood Alwin loved his experiments so much but this was different.
"Have we ever taught you to use your blood even in your experiments?!
How dare you even allow yourself to get hurt like this?!
You have to be more responsible since you are in a position with a lot of responsibility.
You cannot just do as you please anymore.
At least not until you return to Estrella" Zion lost it and glared at Alwin. He gave Alwin a good scolding.
Arabella and Raymond did not intervene since Alwin should indeed not intentionally allow himself to get hurt like this.
"Alright, alright. I’ll heal it now," Alwin sighed in defeat and Zion gave him another glare for his not-so-sorry response.
[I should be able to make it vanish now that I have enough mana,] Alwin thought and touched the arrow.
"Ouch!" Alwin blanched as if he had been burned.
"What’s wrong?" Arabella inquired and Alwin showed them his scalded hand.
His hand even had a mark of the arrow’s shaft he held.
Zion held the arrow too with his bare hand and had the same reaction. His hand also got a burnt mark.
Meanwhile, Raymond, who touched it with a gloved hand, was fine.
"Is this why you got injured?" Raymond inquired.
"I could have parried but I received an arrow with my palm since I have to know how to make a cure against its poison," Alwin admitted and right as he said it, he coughed up blood.
"It’s poisoned?!" Arabella gasped but quickly handed Alwin her handkerchief as Alwin’s was quickly drenched in blood.
"Yes, but it seems stronger than I thought. I thought I was immune to all poisons. But it seems not to all. This is the first time in a while I was affected by a poison. To some extent, my body is still resistant to it though," Alwin replied.
He coughed up blood once again though and used Arabella’s handkerchief to clean the blood from his lips.
Blanca came closer and touched the arrow as well with the tip of her pinky. She turned sickly pale as she said to Alwin, "You shouldn’t have allowed something so terrible to hurt you!"
"You shouldn’t have touched it," Alwin chided and healed Blanca’s finger.
"You should be healing yourself!" Blanca pulled her hand away. "This is dangerous! I’m sure of it. I’ve felt this before! It was the reason I had to sleep for so long and almost lost my wings."
Everyone paused at that and eyed Blanca who already had tears in her eyes.
"What do you mean?" Alwin inquired.
"This is what they used to hunt us down," Blanca’s eyes darkened with hate and fury.
Blanca revealed that weapons like this that burned them upon touching were lethal to the long-lived races since they had magic canceling properties and were laced with strong poison.
In Blanca’s time, weapons from this were used by hunters to either hunt or kill the long-lived races they could find.
It was what killed her parents and almost Blanca herself. However, in desperation, Blanca who barely managed to survive thanks to Esmeralda, hibernated as she tried to cure herself.
Blanca had already rid herself of most of the poison so Alwin was able to heal her quickly when they went to Safiro.
"How can you be so careless just for your experiment?! What if you died from this or had to hibernate?!" Blanca said with tears in her eyes.
"Haha, are you worried about me now?" Alwin chuckled and patted Blanca’s head gently.
Blanca glared at him, almost snarling even as her tears kept flowing.
"Don’t worry. His Majesty had made me resistant to almost all poisons since I was young. See. my hand is already healed," Alwin showed the hand he used to clasped the arrow and the burn scar was already gone.
The wound on Blanca’s finger had also vanished after Alwin healed it.
"Yes, he will be fine. He would have collapsed by now if it could kill him. But he will suffer for a bit for his stupidity. Hopefully, this teaches him a lesson and not just receive random weapons with his body," Zion glared at Alwin one more time and embraced Blanca who kept crying like a child.
"Be grateful to His Majesty for preparing your body for the worst," Raymond sighed as Alwin coughed up more blood.
Raymond glanced at Rendell and said, "Let’s remove this arrow first before it spreads too much poison. Even Alwin would have to take some time to heal if this stays too long."
Rendell pulled out his sword and cut the arrow in Alwin’s hand.
Raymond gently pulled out the arrow and with a look of dismay and exasperation, placed it in a glass container Alwin had created for this new specimen.
[That look in his eyes. He is dying to experiment on this too.
I should be used to this behavior of his by now.
But it could have truly been dangerous if not for His Majesty building all sorts of resistance for him since he was a child.] Raymond thought.
Hearing Raymond’s thoughts, Arabella could not help but recall the time when Renee told her, Ferdinand was feeding poison to Fermin.
Alwin had cleared up now that it was to build resistance to poison.
"Since you three already knew about this, is there already a cure for this poison?" Alwin inquired.
"You won’t need it. You will heal faster if you just regain more mana. Your body will do the rest," Raymond said and extended his hand towards Alwin to share some of his mana.
