CHAPTER 817: CHAPTER 817: TO SAVE SOMEONE

"You won’t need it. You will heal faster if you just regain more mana. Your body will do the rest," Raymond said and extended his hand towards Alwin to share some of his mana.

[We kept him safe ever since his childhood but look at him throwing himself to danger needlessly. If the necromancers aren’t around, I would not let him go back to Estrella and I won;t allow anyone to share his mana either for him to suffer from this a bit more as Zion has said so Alwin would learn his lesson and never do this again.]

"Don’t do this reckless behavior again. You only survived now because His Majesty had prepared in advance. But if he did not, even you could have died with that poison especially with your limiters on," Raymond scolded Alwin while transferring some of his mana to him.

"It’s that strong?!" Alwin was finally realizing how much danger he was into.

"Yes. It’s highly lethal especially since they mixed it with a magic nullifying weapon," Raymond clarified. "Are you still going to do this reckless behavior again? If there’s a next time we’ll have you confined here without receiving treatment of any sort let you suffer on your own."

Alwin paled at Raymond’s threat since he looked like he meant it.

"I won’t. I won’t do it again. I just did it because my potions did not work against it," Alwin admitted.

He then told them the whole story.

Alwin revealed that he had followed their plan religiously as they had agreed upon. He teleported all those who had the marks Jacob and Emily had distributed.

There were thousands of slaves brought to the battlefield right in the front lines to be used as meatshields.

The pro-slavery faction of Crux knew that with Valerian knights who upheld their honors and were proud of their achievements in battle, they would be shaken to realize they had killed so many civilians who could barely even fight properly.

The Valerian knights and soldiers would likely not want to keep killing people who could barely even fight since it goes against their values and pride.

The pro-slavery faction were planning to use that opportunity to strike with their real knights and soldiers.

However their plan was thwarted with Alwin teleporting the slaves to another location.

Thus, a lot of the Crux soldiers surrendered after they saw the thousands of people in the frontline vanish.

It was all going according to plan on Alwin’s part. He teleported those who surrendered to Marquess Heron’s estate.

Alwin then returned to the Alba Estate to see if there were infiltrators among the slaves and there were indeed.

There was already a fight ongoing when he arrived.

What was unexpected was that there were a lot of Ruela Household’s knights who did not go to the battlefield but secretly stayed near the Alba Household instead.

Their intention was clear. They were there to wipe out the Alba Household while the war with Valeria was ongoing. This way, they could blame it as Valeria’s doing.

Alwin also said that their enemy must not have known their plan to teleport the slaves to the Alba estate since their magicians were at the borders.

Alwin had felt their presence but ignored them and simply did his task since he thought the magicians would remain in the battlefield to protect and assist their army.

However, he was wrong. Some followed where he went instead.

Meanwhile, the knights of the Ruella Household and their allies surrounded the Alba Estate and rained arrows on them.

Of course, Alwin used a barrier to protect everyone since there were way too many people who could die if he allowed the arrows to land.

It was fine at first.

But the magicians intervened. They were somehow able to cancel Alwin’s barriers so he had to keep putting up a new one.

Alwin, Jacob, and Emily, who were magicians, were also targeted using different arrows.

Arrows like the ones implanted in Alwin’s hand now.

Unexpectedly, those arrows went through the barrier and all of Alwin’s personal protective barriers as if canceling them.

Alwin was so surprised that he was too late to react to using his sword. He would have been hit critically if Prince Sebastian did not protect him.

More arrows came and since Alwin was busy maintaining one barrier to another to save the people there, Prince Sebastian, Princess Seraphina, Jacob, and Emily focused on protecting him.

The magicians on the pro-slavery faction’s side also began using necromancy so all those who died in the battlefield began attacking them.

The pro-slavery faction did not mind their slaves dying because their ploy was likely to use those same slaves as undead soldiers to kill as many Valerian knights and soldiers as possible since they had necromancers on their side.

Now that they were in the Alba Household, they didn’t mind using the slaves as the undead soldiers to wipe out the Alba Household and their allies.

Since Alwin had just used mass teleportation on such a great number of people twice, he was out of mana and had to drink recovery potions.

Due to the necromancy, Alwin had to exhaust his mana even more to the point of drinking several recovery potions in quick succession.

While the battle was raging, Emily was hit with an arrow and it weakened her so much that she could not heal herself.

Alwin successfully healed her after Princess Seraphina removed the arrow. However, Emily was poisoned as well and still did not regain consciousness.

Since Emily got hurt protecting Alwin, he could not let her die so he brought Emily and Princess Seraphina with him here in the Magic Tower.

Alwin brought them to another room before teleporting here.

But before leaving the Alba Estate, he let an arrow hit his palm first so he could learn what was the best treatment for the poison and cure Emily.

However, since Alwin was too prideful and did not want to admit he needed help, he made it seem like it was simply out of curiosity of the new kind of weapon he encountered.
