CHAPTER 837: CHAPTER 837: REQUEST FOR A MEETING FROM THE POPE

She never expected the Pope to write a letter to her since she never contacted him after the last time she saw him in Medeus.

After closely inspecting it, Riley finally handed it to her and said, "It’s safe, Your Majesty."

"Thank you."

Unlike Alwin who usually simply handed her the letter, Riley respectfully put everything back in the envelope and handed it to her as if it was not opened.

Arabella inspected it as well.

Both the envelope and the paper were scented and made of the highest quality.

She took a deep breath before unfolding the letter and finally taking a peek at the content.

"His Holiness’ handwriting is so much better than mine," Arabella could not help but comment.

The Pope’s handwriting was so beautiful.

All of it was aligned perfectly with not a single letter straying even just a bit more space from the other.

It was as if the spaces were measured and the letters were written slowly and carefully so not a single letter would differ from the other.

[It was indeed. But Her Majesty’s handwriting is still pretty compared to others. Perhaps this is because the Pope had lived for too long for a human.] Riley thought.

’Haha. See, even Riley thinks so too,’ Arabella fully opened the folded letter.

Her handwriting was pretty because she had been trained since childhood to write neatly and beautifully.

But the Pope’s handwriting was on a whole new level.

Riley was right though that perhaps it was because the Pope had lived so much longer than she was.

Arabella learned from Ferdinand that the Pope was alive during the Great War and was one of the survivors.

After getting the blessing of the Creator of humans, the Pope continued to live until now.

The Pope had indeed lived for too long for a human.

Arabella understood now that it was why he asked Ferdinand to kill him once his successor was ready and replaces him.

The Pope had been working for too long and was longing for rest.

So why would he contact her all of a sudden?

Arabella wondered if it was related to what Alvis thought about this when she was with him.

She then read the letter.

Warm greetings, Your Majesty.

I hope you are doing well since the last time we met.

You have not used the ring once to contact me so I assume you must be doing well.

I am happy for you if that was the case.

As for my purpose, I sent this letter to you because I would like to schedule a meeting in person.

I heard the Emperor is not in Riva so I wrote to you instead.

Yesterday, while I was meditating, I felt a monstrous amount of mana from a high-ranking elf. The tremors it caused reached even Medeus so I had to track down the source.

I found out it was from Crux where the earth’s tremor was the strongest.

I headed where it originated as soon as I could but the elf had already left. Instead, I found a gigantic tree from a royal elf’s blood.

I also found some disturbing things which I would like to discuss with Your Majesty and a representative of the long-lived races.

Ah, and I believe the person who caused the earthquake is still here in the human realm. May I request that he/she also attend the meeting.

I am currently in Crux Palace and have spoken with the Grand Commander of your knights and have verified with him the presence of necromancers in Crux.

I would like to discuss this matter in detail as soon as possible so may I request a meeting in person?

I will be staying in Crux while waiting for your reply.

’He’s already in Crux?!’

Arabella gulped nervously after reading the letter.

She had a feeling this would be more troublesome than she thought so she wrote a letter to Raymond asking how to respond to the Pope’s request.

When she was done, she folded it neatly and placed it in an envelope along with the Pope’s letter and sealed it.

"Please bring this to His Excellency," Arabella said since she could not decide about this on her own.

She needed to speak with Raymond about it.

So as not to disturb Raymond, it was better for him to read the letter himself before they meet.

This way, he could contemplate about it first or speak with the Great Elders first if necessary before they decide how to respond to the letter.

The Overseer, Elrond was the Representative of the long-lived races. However, whoever was sent here to rule Valeria also here on Elrond’s behalf.

However, Ferdinand was busy in Sibruh so Raymond or the Great Elders meeting with the Pope might be alright.

Arabella was not sure of the process so it was better to let Raymond know about this first and not disturb Ferdinand who had not yet returned.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Riley handed it to Rendell and it was given to Raymond’s assistant who was in the waiting room.

A reply from Raymond came in a few minutes and they arranged to meet in the afternoon after doing some work first.

Arabelle worked on documents she was not able to do during the war with Crux.

When the scheduled time arrived, Riley teleported her t the Magic Tower where her meeting with Raymond would be.

They still maintained meeting at the Magic Tower for their talks since meeting often where people would know might cause a rumor of an affair again.

Especially since Ferdinand was not in the palace.

Thus, they had to be careful not to be spotted together too often or be seen having or whatsoever in each other’s company even if they are just talking about work.

"Your Majesty," Raymond greeted formally and only seated himself once Arabella was already seated.
