CHAPTER 847: CHAPTER 847: HE IS HIBERNATING

Everything was going as usual in Riva.

Arabella attended the Court Sessions and went to the Magic Tower shortly after.

She checked on the rescued Prudencians and when they were doing well, she headed to Alwin’s room.

It had been three days since the war with Crux ended.

Yet, Alwin still lay unconscious.

Dimo and Blanca had grown even more worried due to this.

Riley and Zion had already assured them, Alwin was alright and simply needed a much needed rest, which was why he was still unconscious.

Alvis confirmed it too.

However, the two were still worried because Alwin hadn’t woken up yet; not at all, even just for a bit.

Dimo was the most worried since he did not know Alwin was of the long-lived races so sleeping for several days, or longer, was alright.

Seeing Alwin unconscious reminded Dimo of his late mother. Thus, he had been melancholic the past few days.

Alvis being a worrywart was tolerable.

However, a worried and sad child made the mood in the room even heavier.

Compared to this, Alvis’ complaints on Raymond seem cute.

Likewise, even Alvis was missing the talkative Dimo now that he was so silent.

At first, Arabella bringing in Dimo’s favorite foods, cheered him up. When it no longer did, Alvis taught Dimo new child-friendly spells he did not know about.

It worked until yesterday.

But now, his favorite foods nor new magic spells didn’t work at all.

He still had his head and arms settled on Alwin’s bed as he watched the latter sleep despite the chocolate cake and pastries served on the table nearby.

"Your Majesty, will my Master ever wake up?" Dimo asked Arabella with teary eyes.

His long lashes were already wet with tears and he had dark circles under his eyes from not sleeping well.

He sniffed and added, "My mother was asleep for several days too before she died."

Arabella and Alvis glanced at each other at Dimo’s question.

It was getting hard to cheer him up especially when he recalls his deceased mother.

Yet, they they could not simply watch him be melancholic either.

They could not stomach simply letting him worry about Alwin’s condition all the time.

"Your Master will not die.

We won’t allow it.

His Uncle Alvis is here to watch over him too," Arabella assured Dimo and gently patted his head.

"Then why is he not waking up?" Dimo reached out and held Alwin’s hand. Once again, he ensuring it was still warm.

Dimo hadn’t forgotten his mother’s hand and body turning cold when she died.

A slight relief washed over his troubled eyes as he felt Alwin’s warm hand and pulse.

"He will wake up once he has rested properly. He needs more sleep," Arabella said the same reason for the nth time. She had answered this question for the nth time too.

She glanced at Alvis for help since she was at a loss for words now.

What else would she say that would truly reassure Dimo?

She had said everything she could the past few days but Dimo still kept asking this same question because he was worried and frustrated at seeing Alwin like this.

They tried taking Dimo elsewhere but he always refused and chose to stay beside Alwin.

Dimo had seen his mother become sickly and lay in bed for days until she eventually died. Thus, seeing someone he had grown attached to stay unconscious in bed for days scared him a lot.

No matter what they said, Dimo was still afraid of the possibility of Alwin suffering the same fate as his beloved late mother.

[Hmm. What would satisfy this child?]

Alvis silently pondered. He perked up when he seemed to have an idea and said, "Magicians who had been practicing for a long time can hibernate.

They sleep for several days without waking up to recover from injury or mana loss.

Alwin is doing just that.

He had used up all his mana so he needed to sleep until he had recovered as much mana as he wanted.

You know he had a vast capacity, right?"

[It’s not like I lied. Humans who become capable enough can do exactly what I said. Alwin’s case is almost the same, so it should be fine.]

Dimo’s eyes glowed with magic as he examined Alwin and said, "Oh, Master’s mana had indeed recovered some! So, he chose to sleep for a while?"

"Yes," Alvis nodded, relieved that his words worked somehow.

"But Master has such an immense mana capacity.

I cannot even fathom how much he has.

How long will it take for him to fully recover?" Dimo further inquired.

"Hmm, that depends. It might take a few more days," Alvis was not sure either since it could be affected by a lot of factors because of Alwin’s use of two mana cores and a forbidden spell.

"Will Master keep sleeping without eating or drinking anything? Will he be alright?" Dimo asked with inquisitive eyes.

[You’ve got a nice little disciple, Alwin.] Alvis smiled and lovingly fixed the blanket covering Alwin up to his chest.

Dimo immediately helped fixed the side close to him.

"He will be fine since he’s asleep.

He won’t feel hungry or thirsty while he’s in hibernation.

You’ll be able to do this too if you grow up well enough as a magician," Alvis assured Dimo.

Only after another lengthy explanation did Dimo finally concede, Alwin would be fine, and agreed to attend his scheduled swordsmanship and horse-riding lessons.

Just a few minutes after Dimo left, Arabella was surprised when she felt a sorely missed presence suddenly by the door of Alwin’s room.

She and Alvis both glanced in the same direction since he also felt it.

Arabella gazed at the door waiting for Ferdinand to enter. She was sure it was him.

"Ah, he’s finally here.

Humph. Took him long enough," Alvis muttered.

[He’s only visiting now? He should have come earlier.]

Alvis meant Ferdinand should have been here sooner. Preferably, instantly like he did when he felt Alwin’s blood drip to the ground.

After all, it had been three days since Alwin was like this.

However, the reason Ferdinand was only here now, was because, he was not informed about Alwin’s injuries. It was only today that Zion went to report to him.

They had delayed the report since they waited for the situation in Crux to settle down before they give a report.

And now that he knew, Ferdinand immediately came to see for himself what happened to Alwin.

’You are indeed, loved more than you thought, Alwin,’ Arabella smiled warmly as her eyes darted from the door to Alwin and back again.

’It had been a while since I last saw him. Had he been eating properly? Did he get any rest? Did he miss me?’ Arabella’s heart raced as she thought of finally seeing her husband again.

She had a lot of questions she wanted to ask him.

She wanted to run to the door, open it for him, and welcome him back with open arms.

However, when she glanced at Alwin, she held back.

Since Ferdinand returned after Zion went to give him a report, she knew her husband was here because he was finally informed, Alwin got injured.

She knew he must be concerned about Alwin’s condition.

They waited for several seconds for the door to open but it didn’t.

[Why isn’t he coming in?] Alvis wondered.

{Your Majesty, please excuse me. I know he can feel your presence but let’s try to make you invisible if he would notice.}

Alvis had a smirk on his face as he made the suggestion.

{Alright.} Arabella agreed since it might be better to let her husband focus on Alwin now.

She hadn’t heard anything about her from Ferdinand’s thoughts so he may have not noticed her yet.

Alvis then cast a spell to make her invisible.
