CHAPTER 854: CHAPTER 854: HE DID NOT NEED TO BE A SAINT

Thus, back then, he did not mind Alwin doing anything he wanted.

But that was when Alwin was in Estrella where they could easily protect at the slightest sign of danger since they could use their powers.

It was different here in the human realm where they could barely do anything.

Especially since after eons had passed, it was true that rules became a necessity for safety purposes since the times had changed.

The younglings like Alwin, Blanca, Ronald, and Raymond’s little ones: Raymart, Alice, and the one on the way, were the most vulnerable.

Especially now that humans had learned how to eliminate the long-lived races without competing with strength and longevity.

And they had popped out again and successfully hurt Alwin this time.

’Those rotten bastards. They need to pay for these. My meeting with the Pope came in time.’

Ferdinand smirked as he thought about roasting the Pope who had always been antagonistic towards them.

In the human realm, the Pope was the only surviving human who knew how to create the poison that could kill the long-lived races.

The Great Temple was the only entity allowed to have access to weapons that could cancel out magic.

If the Pope and the Great Temple had something to do with this, Ferdinand would ensure to torment them.

After all, it meant they were trying to be hostile to them.

It meant the Peace Treaty between humans and the long-lived races was in jeopardy.

’It must be one of the reasons why he requested a meeting.’

"Have you decided what to do, Your Majesty?" Zion inquired with a troubled look on his face.

"Don’t even think about punishing Alwin harshly."

Alvis reminded him while glaring daggers.

Ferdinand realized it was because of his smirk.

"Don’t worry, this is about something else."

Ferdinand assured the elf king so he would stop with the pointless glaring.

"I know, Alwin contributed greatly to the victory in the war with Crux and most importantly in preventing a high number of casualties."

Thus, Ferdinand did not really feel like punishing him since he did well.

But Alwin did a bit too well to the point of being sacrificial of himself.

He did not need to be a saint.

They never wanted Alwin to be so selfless he would sacrifice himself for anyone.

What they wanted was for Alwin to always protect himself first.

To only protect others once he, himself, was safe.

After all, when it comes to a situation where they must choose between Alwin and the lives of other people, Ferdinand and everyone here would, of course, choose Alwin’s.

Thus, Alwin did not need to push himself too much to the point of being sacrificial.

They did not raise him just so he could die without blooming fully.

For them, Alwin’s life was so much more valuable than any of the lives Alwin saved that day.

Of course, it was likely the other way around for Crux and the people of Prudencia.

The Prudencians’ lives were of course valuable for the Empire and the people of Crux could be useful allies to Valeria in the future.

But personally, to Ferdinand and all the Estrellians here, Alwin’s life mattered the most.

"His punishment will be decided after I have spoken with him. I want to hear what he thinks about what he did."

Only after that would Ferdinand decide what to do.

What concerned Ferdinand now was where Alwin could possibly learn forbidden spells.

"Did he say where he learned the forbidden spell? We have locked up all possible sources in my island."

Ferdinand eyed them and it seemed they already knew.

"Alwin said he learned the forbidden spell from The Overseer.

But we are not yet sure if it was true.

Has The Overseer reached out to you, Your Majesty?"

"Elrond? No," Ferdinand shook his head and glanced at Alvis.

"He had not reached out to me either," Alvis answered his silent question.

"Then, it must be true Alwin learned it from Elrond," Ferdinand concluded.

Alwin was not the type to lie about something like this so he must have said the truth.

"But why would The Overseer teach Alwin such a spell?"

Raymond inquired with a look on his face as if he had been pondering about it for a while.

It was a puzzle to Ferdinand as well since Elrond was quite strict.

Among all primordial dragons, Elrond was the one who implemented the rules since he was usually the one contacted by the Dragon God or other gods.

There could only be one explanation for now until Elrond or Alwin clarified it themselves.

"It’s unlike him to do this without a reason.

Elrond must have seen something with his eyes again.

Or, he received some kind of oracle from the gods," Ferdinand concluded.

"Ah, I see... That may be it indeed," Raymond nodded in understanding.

"Yes, it must be," Alvis was in agreement as well.

After all, Elrond was special.

Not only was he the eldest among primordial dragons, but was also the most powerful in terms of magic among them all.

Physical strength was not Elrond’s forte; but Ferdinand could say, Elrond was the epitome of magic and could see beyond this world.

He was the only one who had not lost a single memory even after their deathlike slumber.

Further, at times, Elrond could see glimpses of the future. He may even be able to see the future at all times but was keeping mum about it.

Elrond was like that.

He was quite mysterious and secretive so even Ferdinand and the other primordials did not really know most of Elrond’s true power.

All of the Oracles of the Dragon God were revealed through him.

It was Elrond who said it was Ferdinand’s turn to be sent to Valeria.

Ferdinand refused it repeatedly but there was nothing he could do when both Elrond and the Dragon God insisted he must.

Ferdinand did not want to believe it but the others had indeed found their mates so far.

Likewise, Elrond had already shown the legitimacy of his powers to them repeatedly in the past.
