CHAPTER 859: CHAPTER 859: HOW THEY GOT THEIR ROLES

Ferdinand sighed and settled his back on his seat.

He felt embarrassed for Arabella to have noticed for her to even ask Alfredo for this.

"It’s alright, Your Majesty. Showing weakness every now and then will only help your relationship grow," Raymond said.

"What do you mean?" Ferdinand eyed Raymond and the latter chuckled with a mischievous look on his face.

Since Raymond became in charge of the paperwork, Ferdinand had seen him with this kind of look on his face more often.

Was it simply because Raymond got wed that he changed in more ways than one?

Sometimes it made Ferdinand wonder if Raymond was frustrated not to be in the frontlines during battles.

But Raymond himself was the one who volunteered for this task himself.

Ferdinand did not ask Raymond to be his butler either. Raymond declared himself as one and did the task as he pleased.

At first, Ferdinand thought Raymond just followed him around since he could fight stronger foes.

After all, ever since Raymond lingered around him, Ferdinand no longer needed to be bothered with useless fights with people who were so much weaker than he was.

Raymond did all the fighting when it came to those people and drove them away.

Thus, Ferdinand only had to fight foes Raymond could not subdue or if they somehow managed to get past Raymond through whatever means.

Raymond grew so much stronger over the years and eventually got tired of fighting the weaklings as well so when they gained more comrades, Raymond let the newbies deal with it.

Raymond declared himself as Ferdinand’s right hand and did all the organizing and whatever communication, planning, or other menial tasks Ferdinand did not bother with.

As more time passed and all sorts of positions popped up, Raymond also claimed to be Ferdinand’s butler. And now he was also Ferdinand’s Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister position was originally meant for Zion who had claimed as the next in line among Ferdinand’s comrades since he was the one who followed him after Raymond.

Zion was supposed to be the Prime Minister since what Ferdinand needed here was an assistant who could support him with magic while he could not use it here but likewise work well as the Prime Minister.

Zion would have done well like Raymond does.

But, of course, Raymond claimed the Prime Minister position immediately since he was Ferdinand’s right hand.

However, two dragons, specifically a Great Elder like Raymond and a Primordial One like Ferdinand could not go out of Estrella at the same time as per the rules after the Great War.

Thus, Raymond could not follow Ferdinand to Valeria even when he wanted to and believed the Prime Minister position was rightfully his spot.

However, as if to grant Raymond’s wish, another Oracle came. They learned that Raymond’s mate – Clarisse, who was his wife now – had also been born in the human realm.

Thus, Raymond was allowed to go outside of Estrella as Ferdinand’s Prime Minister.

Of course, like Ferdinand, Raymond also had to leave his original body and could not use his powers and abilities while in the human realm.

Zion was then moved as Head of the Magic Tower and Ferdinand’s magician.

But Alwin, who wanted to go with them to the human realm insisted to be the head of the Magic Tower and be Ferdinand’s magician while he was in the human realm.

Alwin debated with Zion for a while and even challenged the latter with a bout using only magic.

With how immensely Alwin had grown over the years and with his mana capacity that grew quickly, Zion almost lost the duel but they remained in a stand still since Alwin was still inexperienced in real fights.

Alwin was younger though so Zion had no choice but give way since Alwin was adamant.

Zion relinquished the role to Alwin, albeit begrudgingly and calling Alwin a disrespectful brat who did not respect the seniority they had honored since they followed Ferdinand.

So Zion would not feel bad, Raymond gave up managing Ferdinand’s island while he’s in the human realm.

Thus, Zion was the one who managed the island while the three of them were in the human realm.

Zion also had the condition that he would only relinquish the Head of the Magic Tower role to Alwin only if he would also be allowed to the human realm and be summoned by Ferdinand for things he could not ask Alwin for.

Ferdinand agreed since he knew there would indeed be instances he could not ask Alwin to do certain things.

Thus, since Ferdinand did not put Alwin on the frontlines of the battlefield, it was Zion he summoned during such times.

It suited Zion since he was far more experienced than Alwin when it came to being a magician on the battlefield. Thus, the arrangement fits in. Or else, the three would have fought for their roles for a while.

Yet, ever since the three got their current roles, all of them had begun acting somewhat weird.

Or Ferdinand was just not used to them being like this?

After all, they did not find anything to tease him in the past. Were they having their fun now that they could?

Raymond and Zion keep making this kind of look recently. They used to hold back at first and not make it too obvious. But now, they tease him whenever they can.

Sometimes, Ferdinand wanted to give them a good beating but just let it pass and ignore their antics. But sometimes, he also gets back at them by giving them a hard time during training.

If their words were not helpful, Ferdinand would never ask them anything about relationships or love.

But since their words had been working well so far and had helped him improve his relationship with Arabella, Ferdinand had no choice but to simply tolerate their behavior so he could keep asking them for advice when he needed it.

Even right now, Ferdinand could tell they were having fun with his predicament.

He glared at them but relinquished since he wanted to know what Raymond meant by showing weakness, possibly growing his relationship with Arabella.

After all, both long-lived races and humans alike wanted a strong and powerful mate.
