CHAPTER 861: CHAPTER 861: A COMMON TRAIT

With Alvis heavily regretful about the former Fairy Queen’s death, Arabella surmised her former self must also have regrets about their sudden parting.

Just as she was thinking about it, she heard Alvis’ thoughts.

[It’s nice to see her marriage in this life seems to be going well too. I feel bad for her former husband but this is her next life after all. I’m relieved to see that even the Great Primordial had indeed softened up to her. I felt his hesitation in leaving this room without speaking with her.]

Arabella smiled upon hearing Alvis’ thoughts.

She was glad Alvis had accepted Ferdinand as his former friend’s new husband even if he was close to her past husband.

No longer feeling the heat on her face, Arabella took another deep breath and composed herself.

She turned around with her usual composure and said to Alvis, "My apologies about that. Thank you for waiting."

Alvis smiled and responded with mirth in his eyes, "No worries, Your Majesty. I’m sure you are delighted he could still feel your presence even with a spell from me."

"Yes," Arabella could not help but admit.

After all, she was indeed happy that Ferdinand still felt her presence.

"But I’m sure it must also have its downside. It also means you cannot sneak around to do things behind his back," Alvis added and Arabella was surprised.

"B-behind his back?" she blinked twice at Alvis’ words.

’What does he mean?! Did Alwin say anything to him or does he have a clue about my past? Or had he heard the rumors about my former lover?’

Arabella was too stunned to speak as she interpreted Alvis’ words in all sorts of ways.

"Ah, my apologies. My words must have sounded off. I didn’t mean it in a negative way. My wife is close with the mates of the other dragons so I also end up speaking with them. And it was always the primordials’ mates who had repeatedly mentioned that sometimes, they wish they could hide from their spouses to do things on their own," Alvis clarified.

"Oh, I see. Haha," Arabella chuckled awkwardly. She was glad she just overinterpreted Alvis’ words.

She was curious about what he said though so she asked, "Why would they want to hide from their spouses?"

"It’s because of dragons’ tendencies. Among us long-lived races, dragons are the most possessive of their mates. Primordials even more so. Probably for a hundred fold or more," Alvis pointed out matter-of-factly as if this was a common fact known to all the long-lived races. "I’m sure His Majesty had already displayed such behavior as well."

"Y-yes," Arabella nodded. Ferdinand had managed to stop glaring at everyone who looked at her but he was still quite possessive indeed. And he overthought things quite often too.

If this was a tendency of dragons’, especially primordials, then she could finally understand why it was so hard for Ferdinand to stop behaving in such a manner.

She enjoyed Ferdinand’s attention and possessiveness at times but sometimes, he indeed was quite a bit too much that he only ended up hurting himself with all the overthinking and over-fretting.

Arabella had done her best to assure Ferdinand so he would stop hurting himself with all the overthinking and thankfully, it was finally working albeit slowly.

"I believe it’s quite normal to want to pamper one’s beloved. But primordials have lived for far too long and have been so used to being alone and devoid of emotion. Suddenly feeling various emotions and sensations again after so long had given them a new life but also new challenges. Even more so, all primordial dragons are new to the concept of having a mate. Thus, they end up either failing in one thing or another. Or, they may be excessive in showering attention to their mate or seeking it even in the smallest of things."

Alvis explained that at times, mates of the primordial dragons complain about their spouses being too much in a lot of things. Too clingy, jealous, too demanding, restricting. All sorts of things, even now.

Alvis said it was why primordial dragons had the most difficulty in finding a mate amongst all the Estrellians who headed to Valeria.

Arabella suddenly wanted to meet with the mates of the other primordial dragons. She realized she was not the only one experiencing such things with Ferdinand.

Her husband had shown great improvement but it would be nice to have someone to talk to. Maybe, the other mates have some useful advice they can share with her about being a primordial’s mate.

However, she was not sure if it was even allowed. After all, Ferdinand had never talked of introducing her to them.

If she asked Alvis to introduce her to them instead, Ferdinand might get jealous and begin being wary of Alvis even if he knew elves were loyal to their spouse.

’Maybe I should wait until Ferdinand introduces me to them.’

Arabella concluded that since they were busy with matters in Valeria right now with all the problems they needed to deal with, she would let time take its course.

Maybe, if they were no longer as busy, Ferdinand himself would introduce her to more people in Estrella.

There’s no rush. After all, since she was set on living with him in Estrella, she would meet the other mates eventually.

"His Majesty seems to have the trait as well but he seems to be able to hold back," Alvis noted.

"Ah, yes. He had been improving a lot in that matter," Arabella smiled.

She noted that Alvis speaks in an unfriendly manner when he was speaking with Ferdinand but here he was praising him.

Alvis was not truly hostile to Ferdinand. He was simply a doting uncle who cared about his nephew and felt bad he could not pamper and watch Alwin grow in his most vulnerable years.

"I see. That’s good news for everyone. We won’t force Your Majesty, but we’d prefer if your decision of living in Estrella later on won’t change," Avis seemed relieved.

[We can’t have another primordial wreaking havoc in Estrella, after all. It’s too small a place for all their mana when they’re broken or enraged.]

’Ah, so that’s what he’s worried about...’
