Chapter 1360: This man is getting more and more childish
CHAPTER 1360: CHAPTER 1360: THIS MAN IS GETTING MORE AND MORE CHILDISH
Over the past few days, the school had started its winter break. But since there were several critically ill patients, Luo Qiao continued working at the hospital.
Mo Haiying was now able to get out of bed and move around it. When she saw Luo Qiao come in, she smiled softly and asked, "Director Luo, can I go home for the New Year?"
Luo Qiao checked her again and replied, "It’s best if you stay for another week. If you really want to go home, you absolutely must not exhaust yourself—whether on the way or after you get home. You need to rest properly and avoid creating lingering health issues due to carelessness."
At that moment, Zhang Chao walked in and said, "Yingzi, let’s not rush to leave the hospital. Your health is the priority. I’ve already explained the situation to the family. Director Luo is right—you’ve suffered so much this time, and we can’t risk leaving any health complications behind."
Luo Qiao glanced at Zhang Chao and then turned to Mo Haiying. "Listen to your husband. Women need to learn to take care of themselves. You could increase your nutritional intake these days. Another week of recovery and you should be fine."
Mo Haiying expressed her gratitude warmly, "Thank you, Director Luo."
Luo Qiao smiled and turned to leave, but just as she did, Lu Yichen entered with their five children. Xiao Ye dashed over first, shouting, "Mom!"
Luo Qiao chuckled and caught her running son. "Why are you all here?"
Xiao Rui also ran over. "Mom, we followed Dad to his office, and we’re here to bring you breakfast."
Luo Qiao smiled and said, "I was planning to eat something in the cafeteria later. You didn’t need to make this special trip!"
Yueyue walked in next. "We’ve never seen what Mom looks like at work. Since you worked the night shift last night, we thought we’d bring you breakfast and visit to see what it’s like."
Luo Qiao lifted her head and looked toward the doorway, where Lu Yichen stood in his police uniform, his eyes full of laughter. How could she not guess the reason for all this today?
It was obvious. She had mentioned that Mo Haiying was Zhang Chao’s wife, and, knowing Zhang Chao had been at the hospital recently, Lu Yichen purposefully brought the children here, even making sure to stop by the ward. His intentions could not have been clearer. This man was getting increasingly childish.
Someone in the ward asked, "Director Luo, are these your children?"
Luo Qiao smiled and replied, "Yes, they’re all very mischievous."
"Wow, Director Luo, are they twins and triplets?"
Luo Qiao looked at her children, her eyes full of affection. "Yes, the two girls are twins, and the three boys are triplets."
"Director Luo, your family is incredible! Nowadays, even families with two kids are rare. Yours is truly enviable."
Luo Qiao laughed. "I have four older brothers—two sets of twins. Their children also have twins and fraternal twins, so I guess it’s hereditary."
"Director Luo, your husband is a police officer? He looks so handsome—you’re really lucky."
Luo Qiao smiled and graciously thanked everyone for their compliments before leaving with Lu Yichen and the children, chatting and laughing.
Lu Yichen looked at Luo Qiao, his face brimming with joy.
Luo Qiao glanced at the lunchbox in his hand. "You’re so childish."
Lu Yichen didn’t argue. "After breakfast, you’ll be off work. We’re heading to the family quarters today to tidy up—the house needs some sprucing up."
Luo Qiao thought about it and agreed. They hadn’t been there in a while, and with the New Year approaching, it was time to clean up.
Luo Qiao nodded. "Okay, let’s all go together then."
After speaking, she looked toward her son running ahead, unaware of Lu Yichen’s satisfied smile behind her back.
He could never bear to let his wife handle cleaning alone. The house at the family quarters was spotless—he ensured that it was tidied every few days.
This was just a pretext. Knowing Zhang Chao was there, he wanted to show off and make a statement, while conveniently getting his wife to accompany him to work. Then they could enjoy lunch at the department cafeteria as a family. Perfect.
After Luo Qiao’s family left the ward, a relative remarked, "Director Luo’s family is so good-looking."
"Absolutely. Director Luo is so fortunate—her husband even went out of his way to bring her breakfast. Such happiness."
"Anyone married to someone as beautiful and capable as Director Luo would treasure her immensely."
The ward burst into laughter—everyone except Zhang Chao.
Zhang Chao had previously heard from his sister that Luo Qiao was married, but he hadn’t expected her to already be a mother of five children. Clearly, fate had been kind to her. She didn’t look one bit like someone who had given birth.
And that man—despite not saying much—his eyes were filled with pure love for her. Anyone could see it. It was evident that she had married well and was living happily.
Putting aside his thoughts, Zhang Chao set out the meal he had just retrieved and turned to his wife, who was still moving about. "Yingzi, come eat now."
Mo Haiying turned her head and smiled. "Sure, I’m coming."
Sitting down, she looked at Zhang Chao. "If I stay another week, will it affect you? I feel like I’m almost better. Should we just go home? I can ask my mom to come over and take care of me."
Zhang Chao glanced at his wife. "It’s fine. I’ve already told the unit, and I’ve extended my leave by another week. Right now, you’re the most important thing."
