CHAPTER 1367: CHAPTER 1367: WHO TOUCHED WHOM’S HEART AGAIN

Today, only Tiong Shulan and her two grandsons were at home. Yuan Weihan would return at noon, while the others had officially gone back to work and wouldn’t be coming home for lunch.

The two grandsons had been picked up by Tiong Shulan from her son’s house in the morning. She wanted them to play together with Yanyan, Yueyue, and the triplets.

As soon as Luo Qiao arrived at the entrance of the family housing complex, she saw Tiong Shulan and her two nephews waiting there.

After registering at the gate, they entered the complex.

Yuan Zhikai and Yuan Zhihong, the two brothers, were overjoyed to see their cousin and younger brother.

As soon as they got out of the car, they dragged them off to look for other kids in the housing complex to play.

Tiong Shulan called out to her grandsons who were running off, "Take good care of your cousins!"

Yuan Zhikai, already far away, shouted back, "Got it, Grandma!"

Luo Qiao took the prepared items out of the car, and the two chatted cheerfully as they walked home.

A neighbor nearby asked, "Oh, Shulan, is your goddaughter here?"

Tiong Shulan replied with a smile, "Yes, my Qiaoqiao brought her kids over to visit us."

"Where are the kids?"

"Zhikai and Zhihong took them to play with the other kids in the complex."

Luo Qiao also greeted the neighbor before the two headed into the courtyard.

Truth be told, the neighbors were quite envious of Tiong Shulan. Her goddaughter didn’t visit often, but she always brought generous gifts. Not just holiday presents—she often sent things over during regular days too.

The residents in the housing complex discussed this privately quite a lot, though they couldn’t help but feel envious.

Once inside the house, Tiong Shulan shared with Luo Qiao that the large courtyard house had been returned to the organization, and the eldest and third households had moved out. Initially, they had planned to gather for the New Year, but since Yuan Jiaze’s wife had just had a baby, it was a bit inconvenient, so each household celebrated separately.

It was agreed they’d book a table at a restaurant on the fifteenth day of the New Year and gather for a meal then.

Luo Qiao sighed inwardly, lamenting that without the patriarch, it was impossible to get everyone together. It really is true—only when there’s an elder can the family have cohesion.

Without elders, there are always reasons here and there.

Luo Qiao took out a woolen coat from the items she had brought. "I only made a call that day to send my regards. I haven’t had the chance to visit yet."

Tiong Shulan responded with a smile, "I only visited on the third day of the New Year. The baby is very healthy."

Luo Qiao asked, "Would it be okay if I visited tomorrow?"

Tiong Shulan nodded, "It’s perfect—why wouldn’t it be okay?"

Luo Qiao handed the coat to Tiong Shulan. "I found this before New Year while shopping at the department store. Try it on—it’s perfect for the next few days."

Tiong Shulan teased, "You’re always spending money carelessly."

But the smile on her face couldn’t be hidden. "This style is quite nice. Your dad is going to feel jealous again."

Luo Qiao chuckled, "Don’t worry, Mom—there’s one for Dad too. You two have matching couple’s coats, so he won’t have a reason to feel jealous."

The two laughed together.

Tiong Shulan quickly took off the coat and hung it up. Then, she brought several bags out from the bedroom.

When Luo Qiao saw the sweaters inside, she asked, "Mom, is all of this meant for my family?"

Tiong Shulan gave her a approving look. "You’ve guessed right."

She opened the bags one by one to reveal woolen sweaters and coats. "I knitted these sweaters and coats for your family of seven. You can wear them in a few days. What do you think? Do you like them?"

Luo Qiao was deeply moved. "Mom, please don’t knit anymore in the future. These things are available in stores nowadays. It’s not that I don’t love your knitting—it’s just too time-consuming and labor-intensive. This many—how long did it take you to make them?"

Tiong Shulan looked kindly at the sweaters. "Knitting is my only real skill. Don’t stop me from doing it."

Luo Qiao hugged Tiong Shulan. "Mom, thank you."

Tiong Shulan patted Luo Qiao and joked, "I can’t handle all this hugging! Even your sisters-in-law now hug me at the slightest moment—it’s too much!"

At that moment, Yuan Weihan returned home and saw the two hugging. "What’s going on? Who’s moved who to tears again?"

That one sentence made Luo Qiao and Tiong Shulan burst into laughter.

Luo Qiao turned to him. "Dad, you seem pretty familiar with this situation!"

Yuan Weihan chuckled. "Your sisters-in-law sometimes do this. Later, I learned the story from your mom."

Tiong Shulan jokingly asked, "Why are you home so early today?"

Yuan Weihan walked around the house. "I heard Qiaoqiao was bringing the kids over, so I thought I’d come back early. Where are the kids?"

Tiong Shulan gestured outside. Zhikai and Zhihong are out playing with their friends.

As the adults chatted, they heard the children laughing and chatting as they ran back inside.

Tiong Shulan looked at Yuan Weihan. "You watch the kids—I’m going to start cooking."

Luo Qiao took out the clothes she had bought for Yuan Weihan. "Dad, try on these clothes. I’ll go help Mom in the kitchen."

Yuan Weihan took the clothes. "Haha, it’s so nice to have a daughter!"

He tried on the clothes. "They fit perfectly—just the right size."

The matching pants went perfectly with the top. He looked quite sharp and then told the kids, "Come on, let’s visit the local shop!"

Luo Qiao laughed and headed to the kitchen. "Mom, let me help you."

"Where did they go?"

"Dad took them to the local shop."

Tiong Shulan looked out the window. "I don’t need to guess – he’s probably showing off the clothes you bought him!"

Luo Qiao glanced out the window as well and wondered if her godfather was really as smug as her godmother said.

Tiong Shulan returned her attention to her cooking. "Mark my words—they won’t be back for a while. He’ll probably show off for as long as he can. Those poor kids are just being dragged along!"

Luo Qiao couldn’t help but laugh heartily at Tiong Shulan’s comment.
