Chapter 382 - 383: I am your daughter
CHAPTER 382: CHAPTER 383: I AM YOUR DAUGHTER
After lunch at the Tang Family home, Shi Mei felt satisfied.
Originally, she had just wanted to visit Grandpa and Grandma, but unexpectedly, not only did she get to see her mom, she also got to taste her mother’s cooking.
Normally, Shi Mei would take a nap around this time, but her biological clock was now betraying her, making her sleepy.
Meanwhile, Grandma Shi was still full of energy, chatting merrily with Granny Tang.
Seeing that she couldn’t get a word in, Shi Mei quietly slipped into the kitchen and saw Jian Yun about to wash dishes. She walked over and called out, "Here I am!"
Jian Yun smiled, "Why are you here? Auntie’s going to wash the dishes. Go play outside."
"I’ll help," Shi Mei stood aside, "I can be of help!"
"Then you can help me by opening the refrigerator."
"Sure thing." Shi Mei opened the refrigerator. "What’s next?"
"Do you see the yogurt?"
"Yes."
"Grab one, then go outside and eat it."
Shi Mei: "..."
She was being shooed away.
Annoyed, Shi Mei didn’t hold back and grabbed the last red date flavored one without hesitation. "Then I’m off."
Jian Yun glanced over and asked, "Do you like that flavor?"
"Mhm, mhm, it’s fragrant and sweet." Shi Mei inserted the straw and said with a grin, "It’s really tasty."
Jian Yun let out a light laugh, "My daughter also really likes that flavor. It’s indeed good."
Sucking on the yogurt, Shi Mei felt a pang of sourness in her heart.
I am your daughter.
"Go play outside first. I’ll join you once I’ve finished washing the dishes."
"Okay!" Shi Mei went out jubilant and joyful.
But her biological clock was acting up, and her eyelids soon began to droop.
She had intended to just take a short nap on the sofa, but when Grandma Shi woke her up, it was already past two o’clock.
Grandma Shi scolded her, "Why are you sleeping here? Get up, let’s go home!"
Shi Mei, still groggy, asked, "Where’s Mom?"
Grandma Shi paused.
Next to her, Jian Yun, who was peeling an apple, unconsciously looked over after hearing this.
Grandma Shi said, "What are you talking about? Get up."
Shi Mei then became more alert and looked at Jian Yun, her mouth forming a little pout.
As Jian Yun continued to peel, she smiled and said, "Does Shi Mei miss her mom?"
Grandma Shi knocked Shi Mei on the head and said, "She’s an orphan. Her parents died in a car accident when she was very young."
Shi Mei held her head and pouted, "I really dreamed of Mom. She said I should be good, and when she comes back from work, she’d buy me Sailor Moon stickers."
Upon hearing this, Jian Yun’s hand shook, and the sharp fruit knife accidentally cut into the flesh of her hand, with blood quickly dripping out.
Startled, Shi Mei exclaimed, "Ah!"
She quickly reached for the paper towels on the counter to wrap Jian Yun’s finger.
Jian Yun’s eyes grew moist as she said, "It’s nothing."
She had said the same thing to Xiao Wu before; but then, once done with work, she would buy her Sailor Moon stickers.
However, as work got busy, she forgot about it.
Xiao Wu had made a fuss for a long time because of this, and was angry enough not to talk to her for several days.
Shi Mei pouted, "It looks painful, you’re bleeding! You need to put on a band-aid!"
Grandma Shi, annoyed, pulled Shi Mei back, "Look at you. If you don’t behave, I won’t bring you here anymore."
Shi Mei lowered her head, lips pursed in hurt.
Jian Yun quickly said, "It’s my fault, I was distracted just now."
Shi Mei looked up pitifully at Grandma Shi.
"I thought she bumped into you and that’s why you cut your hand," Grandma Shi sighed with relief, "where’s the first aid kit in the house? Let me help you disinfect it."
Shi Mei stood up and said loudly, "I know where it is!"
