Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 210: Ch 210: My Wish - Part 3
"I feel like we are about to get some visitors soon. I should get ready to receive them."
Layla sighed as she gathered her stuff and used magic to pack it. But she could not help but feel that nagging feeling that worried her in the back of her mind.
It was as if her magic was trying to warn her that she was in danger and needed to run.
Luna also looked frustrated, and her restless pacing annoyed Layla even more. She held the dragon in her arms to calm her down, which seemed to work…a little.
The dragon did settle down, but only for a while.
During dinner, the innkeeper seemed to be in a happy mood. She looked better than any other time Layla had seen her, and her happiness made Layla wonder what had happened.
"Innkeeper, did something good happen? You look to be all smiles today."
Layla asked in a curious voice, and the innkeeper blushed a pretty shade of pink at her words.
"Oh my! Is that so? I did not realize…but I should tell you since you asked me this. Someone proposed to me and asked me to meet them in a bar tonight. This is the first time I have been invited out.
Ah, the bar I was asked to come to is a fancy one I would never dare to step into because I never had money. But this time, I will eat my fill since I was invited out by someone else…"
The innkeeper was lost as she tried to understand what she would do tonight.
Her eyes looked lost in thought, and her mouth was watering as she was thinking about what she could eat at the buffet she would attend.
"Someone asked you out to go tonight? Hmm, well then, go and have fun. But be careful out there and take some money with you. You never know what could happen."
Layla warned the innkeeper, and the female's face faltered momentarily. But it soon became evident that she had not considered that a possibility.
"C-Come on! Do you think that I am joking around? This is no laughing matter….do you think that this is some kind of trap?"
The female tried to laugh it off as a joke, but now that she had been made aware of this being a trap, her expression looked tight, and her mouth broke into a flat line. The innkeeper's happy mood turned sour in an instant.
It made Layla feel bad for her, so she cut her slack.
"Well, I might be paranoid, and this could be nothing, but being safe never harms anyone.
On that note, I will leave this inn tomorrow so you can rent it out again. I might periodically send people here to stay, so always keep two rooms open and available under my name."
Layla told the innkeeper, and the relieved expression on the innkeeper's face returned.
"I see! If that's the case, then it's good! I wish you the best of luck and hope you all the best out there."
The innkeeper looked happy to be rid of Layla, but Layla did not show an offended expression.
Instead, she returned to her room and finished packing.
It was well past midnight when Layla felt moments around the inn, and she also felt her security traps go off. Someone was sneaking around this inn at night, and Layla thought they were there for her.
Usually, she would have ignored them and gone her separate way. But she felt a lot more irritated this time than she had before.
"Tsk, these fools think they can just come here and crash my place whenever they want to? *Sigh* and to think that I wanted to cause no trouble before I left…these people are so unfortunate, rushing to their death like this."
Layla sighed before she pushed herself away from her luggage and picked up her sword.
She saw no point in wearing her armor this time since she had little time.
She cast a spell on her that made her look like a young man with bright silver hair and red eyes. In the darkness of the night, her silver hair and red eyes almost shined with a different light before she carefully made her way out.
The sword in her hand shone with magic, creating an intimidating aura around her. She quickly tracked the people who snuck in to harm her, and their expressions faltered as soon as they noticed Layla.
"Who are you people? Do you not know it is impolite to come in here barging as you please? I lack time or patience to deal with you all."
Layla's smile was strained, and her expression looked troubled. She would not compromise on this, and her thoughts were visible on her face.
Her presence made the killers freeze before they realized that she was just a weak girl they could take advantage of.
"Tsk, we have an intruder who spotted us. We can take our time and deal with her. There is no need for us to hold back."
The leader of these people wanted to end Layla quickly. He did not even seem to care that Layla was a female and she could have 'other' uses besides being killed and being disclosed.
"Come on, boss! That girl is beautiful. Why not let us look at her if you do not want her? Some of us might have some fun…"
Layla threw her dagger at that nasty man, and he ended up dead before he could finish his vulgar gesture.
Anger and danger made Layla's eyes shine, and she turned to look at everyone else with the same intimidating eyes as she had the first one.
"Anyone else wants to die as well? They can open their mouth and annoy me. But I must warn you, I am not a good sport and might hurt it more than it should."
Layla's actions finally scared the people before her to take her seriously.
