Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 215: Ch 215: Anger and Disappointment - Part 2
Annoyed and disappointed eyes looked at the innkeeper as he gave the main pair special treatment.
People had been waiting for a room in this inn for ages, and they did not look happy that someone who had just walked inside had been served before it was their turn. Their jealous eyes promised trouble for the pair that arrived late.
But neither Adam nor Rosette seemed to care for the glares they were getting.
They did not even notice that people were looking at them in a way that said that they wanted to kill them. Or if they did, they ignored it because they had already become numb to it.
"We would like an additional room for our traveling companion. Please make sure the room is comparable to ours in terms of quality and facility. It is a matter of pride for us."
Adam ordered, and the innkeeper looked conflicted for a second. But then his eyes hardened, and he made up his mind.
"I will make sure I carry out your will, Lord Adam. Lady Layla has been our benefactor for a long time, and I need to repay her somehow. Please allow me to serve you to the best of my capabilities."
The man gave a small bow before he left the scene.
Layla did not remember ever helping a man like him, but she would not look the gifted horse in the mouth.
She could feel the people behind her glaring at her for getting lucky and getting an early room, but she ignored those jealous looks instead of paying attention to her companions.
"Would you like to have something to eat first? My stomach is killing me since it wants some solid food. If you want some as well, then follow me."
Rosette complained as she decided to leave first.
Layla was not that hungry since she had some of the rations she kept in her system inventory, but eating fresh and warm food was always the best option. She followed Rosette out, and they went to a nearby restaurant.
No sooner had Layla sat down than she felt a weird energy heading her way. Someone tried to collide with her, but Layla stepped out before she could feel the impact. She also pulled Rosette aside before she could become the victim of a scam as well.
The small kid almost successfully tricked Layla and her partner into becoming criminals and then taking their money.
But since the pair the kid had been targeting got out of the way pretty quickly, the kid knew he needed to do something.
With a painful look on his face, the kid fell to the ground and cried out in shock and false pain.
"O-Oi! I have been cursed. You both broke my arm, and now I cannot work. W-What do I do now? I won't be able to survive now. It is all your fault."
The kid yelled and cried for attention.
Most of the locals knew about these street kids and their drama. It was an everyday occurrence that caused these people to look annoyed.
However, compared to the locals, many more foreigners seemed interested in this conflict and paid attention to what would happen next.
Many of these people sympathized with the kid and his pain. They quickly came to his defense and only took a second to blame Rosette and Layla for something they did not do.
"Hey! What the hell did you do to this kid? Did you break his arm and are now refusing to compensate him properly? Are you still an adult? Don't you feel any shame?"
A passerby asked in an angry voice. He looked like someone who had appointed themselves an advocate of justice and was now trying to make things right.
He was not the only one who gathered, and Layla sighed before she decided to step forward and clarify the situation.
Or, she would have done that if Rosette had not stepped out and placed a hand on the kid's shoulder. Her smile looked mocking and dangerous. Looking at her face made the kid freeze, and he suddenly realized he might have made a mistake.
"So, you said that you got hurt because you knocked yourself into me, right? Then, let me make it up to you. I will give you money for treatment. But first, I need to make sure I dislocated your shoulder."
Rosette put her hand on the kid's shoulder, and before anyone knew it, they heard a cracking sound.
Once she was finished, the pink-haired girl looked satisfied, and she quickly pushed herself to stand up and crack her back.
"Here, take this money for your treatment. This should be more than enough to cover your medical costs. Ah, you might also want to hurry up and get it checked out. I heard resetting your bones if they heal wrong is painful."
Rosette's smile looked like a sinister trap that sent shivers down people's smiles. One look at her was enough to tell anyone she was not a good person.
Even Layla felt her heart skip a beat, and she had seen all kinds of evil in the world.
'The original and pure female lead seems to have changed for the worse. But I cannot say that I am disappointed in the person Rosette has become.'
Rather than being the naive girl who fell for anyone's tricks, Rosette had become capable of holding her own. The world had forced her to grow up, and Layla felt a single pang of regret when she remembered what could have been.
But that thought did not remain in her mind since it was time for her to head out.
Rosette also straightened her back and walked toward the food joint where she wanted to eat. No one else tried even to come close to her, much less bother her.
Those who had been speaking up against her were suspiciously quiet, and they kept their distance from the madwoman they had just seen.
