Layla followed her system and reached the place where she was being led. It was a small clearing in the middle of the temple, and there seemed to be no one at first.

But when she reached that place and pushed the door open, she felt a human presence in front of her.

"Are we sure we are allowed to be here? I don't feel good about sneaking around like this. It feels like someone will jump us soon."

The guard shivered as he tried to contain his fear. But he kept walking so as not to be left behind.

Neither Layla nor Duke Daidus cared much for the scared guard as they continued to make their way deeper and deeper until they reached the clearing where the signal was coming from.

The place Layla's system pointed to had a man standing there with his hands clasped together in a praying manner, but that did not alarm Layla.

It was the carvings the man had all over his body. They were glowing with magic, and it seemed to be seeping out of this man to cause harm to the surroundings.

"Fuck! That is not good. I can feel how that magic is pulsing and causing an environment to change according to it. We must be careful to take that man by surprise."

Daidus complained from behind the adjacent tree. Looking at the scene, he reached the same conclusion as Layla.

"I-I think we should leave it alone and call the temple authorities to handle this. If we cause a scene here, we would become a target for these people to criticize. I don't want to face that…"

The guard was the only one who hesitated about this decision. But he had a good reason to do that as well…

It was not that his words would be heard or acknowledged by anyone. He was made to sit back and not do anything…which suited him just fine. But he was also worried for his life.

"I can take that man myself. I just need you to make sure he does not accidentally escape when I try to block his way. Can you make sure that does not happen?"

Layla asked as she looked at the Duke in front of her.

The half-elf looked confident, and she could also feel his powerful aura. She thought she could trust this man to look after her and complete her task.

"Of course! You do not have to worry about a thing when you are with me. I will cover your back."

The Duke promised, but he looked surprised that he had given this promise. Even the guard looked surprised at how cooperative his usually impassive and irritated Duke was.

It felt like a miracle, and the Duke did not know what was happening to him. He just knew that this female felt familiar to him.

Layla, who did not know what was heading inside the Duke's mind, decided to hand the responsibility over to him before she positioned herself to attack.

Her sword acted fast, and she immobilized the man in the clearing before anyone could blink.

Despite her and the other people's fear of this man escaping, nothing like that happened.

The body in Layla's grasp tried to struggle, but it had no force behind that attempt. Even when the puppet tried to use magic, it was subdued by Luna's magic and forced to keep its head down.

Layla did not like to see this man struggle, so she used her magic to create a suppressing bind and put it around him. It made the man struggle once…twice…before he gave up and decided to flop down in defeat.

One of the problems was dealt with with this.

"You can come out now. I have things under control now. There is no need for you to hide anymore."

Layla promised, and the pair hiding away came out quickly. They headed toward her, and the Duke promptly checked the body she had in her grasp with his spells.

He flinched once his magic collided with the rotting magic before him and pulled back just as quickly.

"Tsk, this is bad. This body is about to give up and rot. If this continues, then all of us might get caught up in the explosion and get hurt. This is not a human but a ticking time bomb that is remotely controlled.

I doubt that thing was ever human to begin with."

The Duke complained as he felt around for more magic. But he pulled back as soon as he got near the sensitive stuff. He had a feeling that he should not be poking his head around places that could cause him to be in danger.

Especially when he had someone else around him.

"I see! So it is an explosive, after all. I expected something like this to happen sooner or later, but I did not expect that side to work this fast. I will keep this thing in my custody. I hope you don't mind that."

Layla threw the explosive body into her system, and the magic stopped.

The duo in front of her looked alarmed at Layla's actions. She could read the fear and amazement in their expression.

Usually, you could not put any living components in your storage box, much less a whole person like this. But Layla had not used a storage box.

Instead, she had used her system inventory, which did not limit what Layla could and could not put in.

She doubted that a human would fit in there, but a small animal should be no problem….or that was what Layla was sure of.

Layla had previously stored the dragon egg there, so there was no telling what else her system storage could store.

"Well, that takes care of one of the problems we have. Now, we must deal with the monsters and call it a day."

Layla stretched her back to pop it in place before she got ready to kill some monsters.
