Layla half expected something to happen during the night, so she was half glad and half sad that nothing happened.

She forced herself to wake up early and take a small walk.

The sun gently rose in the sky, casting a serene glow over the waking world. The only other soul awake at this early hour was Professor Ragnarock, his movements a quiet ballet of concentration and struggle.

Every time he tried to reach for something, he dropped it, and then he had to pick it up and clean it up.

"Professor, you are making a mess of these perfectly alright ingredients. Do you need some help with them?"

Layla asked and flinched as another jar hit the ground. But this time, it was because Layla had called out to the professor, and he was startled by her presence.

When the professor noticed Layla, he rubbed his forehead and sighed before putting everything on hold.

"Why did you have to bring Rosette here? I told you that I was not ready to meet her. God, she just looks like her mother."

The elf commented as he closed his eyes, and memories flashed across his eyes.

"She does? Good for her. But it would be better for her if people did not project the image of the dead on her. She is her person and much more than her 'parent's daughter.' Don't you agree, professor?"

Layla asked, and the professor in front of her flinched before he looked away.

He did not say anything, but it was clear he had gotten the message she was trying to give him.

Once this conversation ended, Layal returned to her room, only to find Rosette leaning against the door and listening in.

Rosette's face was as red as a rose, and she tried to look away when Layla opened the door. But she was too hasty, and the evidence of what she had been doing was all over the place.

"I…did Professor Ragnarock know my parents? Is that why you brought me here?"

Rosette asked, but it was too early for confrontations. So Layla rubbed her forehead and resisted the urge to yell.

"The professor did know your parents, which is partially why I brought you here. I thought you would want to see your godmother once before you grow up. But you must also get out of the temple and broaden your horizons.

You might not realize it, but you have a lot of potential inside you that you need to cultivate. I need talented individuals in the future, and I want you to be one of them."

Rosette was a sharp kid, and hiding the truth from her was a hassle.

That was why Layla decided to be truthful and tell her what she was thinking.

Kid or not, Rosette deserved to know the truth.

The younger person went quiet after that, but Layla felt that she had heard what was being said, which made her think about her future.

By the time breakfast rolled around, Rosette was back to her usual self, and it was impossible to tell that anything had happened.

The forest was much less dangerous this time (mainly because they had Professor Ragnarock accompanying them back)

He led them to the edge of the forest before he went back.

Ultimately, he did not speak to Rosette even once, but his eyes did not leave the younger this time.

"What a creepy old man. Rose, it would be better if you never met him again. I don't like the way that man looked at you."

Adam confessed as he closed his hand around Rosette's hand and tugged her closer.

The female lead did not say anything, but she kept calm and looked away with a burdened look.

Layla chose not to interfere with this. It was up to Rosette to tackle her feelings and sort them out.

She only accompanied them both back to the temple.

Adam went inside first, but as Layla was about to leave, Rosette caught her arm and stopped her.

Raziel made a threatening motion, but Layla stopped him and turned toward Rosette to hear her out.

"I…would like to thank you for all you did for me. Your words helped me realize something - I want to help you. I will work hard and gain more power. And once I am successful enough, I will come to help you out.

Please accept my help once I can give it to you."

Rosette promised with earnest eyes.

She was still a child, so her words did not mean much to Layla. They all sounded like empty words to her at the moment. But Layla's instincts told her that Rosette was serious.

"I see! I will take you in if you still feel the same way once you grow up. Talent or not, I am sure I will find a place for you if you come to visit me in the future."

Layla promised, and Rosette sighed, relieved, before she skipped inside.

Raziel saw this interaction and looked curious about opening his mouth and speaking up.

But he kept his instincts in check and followed Layla's lead.

When they returned to the ducal house, Mary waited in their room. She had already completed all the papers and legal work.

Now, the only thing left for this business were the dark elves.

"My lady, did you get what you were looking for? You have a rather satisfied look on your face."

Mary asked with a small grin on her lips.

She looked happy, and Layla nodded her head.

"I did get what I was looking for. We will leave for the elf village once my exams are over. I cannot fall behind on my class rankings after all."

Layla assured her before hitting the books before the night.

Most of her studies were useless. She already knew math and language, which were being taught to her. Her system library already had the history and other subjects she needed to know.

So, Layla only needed to work hard on magic-related subjects.
