CHAPTER 238: 226 CAPTAIN JIANG DOESN’T WANT TO TAKE THE BLAME (TWO IN ONE 4242)_3
"Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Sister-in-law, your singing is amazing!"
Fang Tongzhou let out a soft sigh.
Only Fang Tongzhou was left standing there. Jiang Jinghuai watched the silhouettes of the mother and son as they walked away, pursing his lips in silence.
"Jing..." Fang Tongzhou managed to utter one word but immediately held back.
"Speak if you have something to say." His tone was as cold as ice.
Fang Tongzhou shivered slightly. "I think Sister-in-law seems to be angry." He glanced at Jiang Jinghuai’s expression as he spoke. Since he didn’t look furious, Fang gathered his courage to continue. "They say couples argue at the head of the bed but make up at the foot of it. Sister-in-law’s such an uninhibited person; just coax her a bit, and it’ll be fine."
"Why is she angry?"
"Huh?"
"Why is she angry?" Jiang Jinghuai’s deep black eyes bore into him, carrying a hint of doubt that wasn’t there on normal days.
Seriously? You’re acting clueless now? In broad daylight, you were chatting and laughing with another woman, and your wife caught you in the act. And you don’t know why she’s angry? Your wife is mild-tempered; if it were someone else, you’d already have claw marks on your face!
"Because you’re too close with Ms. Shui."
"There’s nothing between me and Shui Lian. We were just talking about some things," Jiang Jinghuai stated earnestly.
"Bro, just because you think that way doesn’t mean others do. Let’s put it this way—imagine if you saw Sister-in-law chatting and laughing with some man. How would you feel?"
"I understand." Jiang Jinghuai replied in a low voice, patted his shoulder, and walked away.
"Mommy, I don’t like that lady," Meng Shuyan whispered softly and indignantly in the dark hallway. "That lady named Shui."
Tian Sangsang hugged him tightly. "I don’t like her either."
"What have I told you before? When you don’t like someone, it’s not worth keeping them in your heart. Life is short; fretting over people you dislike is the biggest waste of time."
"Mm," Meng Shuyan nodded reluctantly, snuggling into her shoulder.
Tian Sangsang took out the key and opened the door. Hearing familiar footsteps coming up the stairs, the corner of her mouth curled into a mocking smile in the darkness. She entered the house, turned on the light, and shut the door behind her.
Jiang Jinghuai looked at the closed door, let out a faint sigh, and silently took out his key to reopen it.
Tian Sangsang placed Meng Shuyan on the sofa, stretching her arms to loosen her joints. Singing one song was exhausting. In a while, she’d have to heat water in the kitchen to take a bath. No hot water heater, no showerhead—what a hassle.
Being a housewife is tough.
Once she loses some more weight, she’ll have to pick up yoga again; otherwise, it’ll all come back fast.
Being a woman is even tougher.
"Just now, Shui Lian invited me to her house for dinner," Jiang Jinghuai said from not far away, his voice calm.
Tian Sangsang froze mid-stretch and instead placed her hands on her hips, a cold sneer rising in her heart.
"I turned her down."
Ha.
"We only talked for two minutes in total."
Oh wow, look at you, making every second count!
"Actually, even though I helped her, becoming a teacher was her own effort. And the reason I helped her was because—"
"Stop!" Tian Sangsang stared at him coldly for a moment, then suddenly grinned, her teeth still bright and white. "You don’t need to report to me. After all, I don’t care."
"Oh." Jiang Jinghuai’s lips pressed together as his long lashes drooped. "It’s just that you’ve clearly kept Chun Zisu in your heart."
If Tian Sangsang had been drinking water at that moment, she would have sprayed it all over Jiang Jinghuai’s face.
"Chun Zisu? Are you saying this casually, or are you referring to the Chun Zisu I’m thinking of?"
"Mommy, it was me who said it," Meng Shuyan piped up from where he had been sitting quietly on the sofa, raising his little hand.
Son, why do you tell your dad everything?!
Don’t you know? In life, without a few secrets or some personal stash, you can’t get by! A little mystery is necessary, even between father and son!
"Don’t tell me he’s just a snack to liven up the mood, like a Chun Zisu pastry?" Jiang Jinghuai glanced at her with a half-smile, his eyes piercing.
This was supposed to be her catching him red-handed; how did it turn into him catching her instead? Tian Sangsang coughed and said, "Let’s talk somewhere private."
She walked closer to him, standing quite near, and lowered her voice. "Didn’t we agree not to interfere with each other’s private lives? Never mind, I’ll graciously forgive you for today. Let’s drop it."
Tian Sangsang chuckled darkly. "But if the same thing happens again, well... if you step out just a little, I’ll leap way over the line. Let’s see who—"
"It won’t happen!" Jiang Jinghuai grabbed her hand firmly, his black eyes fixed intently on her. "Don’t say such nonsense anymore."
Tian Sangsang shook his hand off and stomped on his foot. "Don’t touch me!" Pervert!
She glared at him and stomped towards the bedroom, but after a few steps, she turned back, leaning in close. "There’s water in the kitchen; go boil it yourself."
"No." Jiang Jinghuai frowned, as if what she said was utterly absurd, and commanded in his deep voice, "You go."
Tian Sangsang laughed aloud. So during all those times she wasn’t around, he simply didn’t bathe?
"You once said you’d be the maid."
"Sigh." Tian Sangsang exaggerated a sigh, dragging her feet slowly toward the kitchen.
