Reborn as the Villain's Wife, I Shine in 80s
Chapter 251 - 239 Met Zhao Chun
CHAPTER 251: 239 MET ZHAO CHUN
"Miss Eggie, wait! Wait up!" Li Yibai ignored the pain in his hand and chased after Guan Kunling.
Tian Sangsang’s heart skipped a beat. How did he figure out she was Eggie?
Who would have thought that Li Yibai wasn’t calling her at all? Instead, he bypassed her and went straight to Guan Kunling. His eyes sparkled, "Eggie, I’m Li Yibai. A pleasure to meet you! I’d like to get to know you. Do you have time to grab a meal with me?"
Tian Sangsang: "..."
"Yibai." Li Mei no longer dared to bring up Tian Sangsang or Guan Kunling and cautiously tugged on Li Yibai’s sleeve. "We still need to find Wenxiu."
"In a minute." Li Yibai stood still, gazing at Guan Kunling with a dogged determination. It was hard to reconcile the image of Eggie with that of the Little Dragon Girl.
Guan Kunling’s face darkened further and further. Eggie? Is he insane? Calling her Eggie!
A flash of murderous intent sparked in her eyes. "Get lost. Or I might just kill you."
Holy shit! Are all cultivators this arrogant?
"Let’s go." Li Mei fearfully dragged Li Yibai along.
Li Yibai was reluctant to leave, but looking at Guan Kunling’s demeanor, he was genuinely afraid of being taken by a cultivator to be used as a furnace vessel, so he had no choice but to follow Li Mei away.
Outside the East Sea Communication College, a young woman with a sweet and charming face stood at the school gate.
As the two approached, she asked, "Who were you speaking with just now?"
"With Eggie." Li Yibai, seeing Wenxiu, immediately felt as though he had someone to lean on.
"Eggie? The one who sang ’Daybreak’?" Wenxiu frowned.
"Not just that," Li Mei said indignantly. "Wenxiu, she also told Tian Sangsang to sing ’Hero Song.’ I think there’s something off about Eggie; she’s extremely arrogant and dismissive of everyone. She even claimed she could kill people."
"Kill people?" Jia Wenxiu sneered disbelievingly. "Typical of uncouth people—when they can’t win an argument, they resort to empty threats. Such people aren’t worth fearing." Jia Wenxiu glanced calmly at the two women who were still standing there and said placidly, "But I have a feeling Eggie might become your adversary, Yibai."
"I feel it too." Li Yibai sighed. It wasn’t just a psychological threat—it was a physical one as well.
"But that’s okay." Jia Wenxiu smiled sweetly, her lips curling upward. "Yibai, I believe you’re the best. To deal with crass people, there’s nothing we can’t handle. Let’s sit back and see what tricks she has up her sleeve for now."
Li Yibai nodded. "I’ll listen to you, Wenxiu."
**
"Since you’re back, are you planning to leave again?"
Guan Kunling held Meng Shuyan in her arms. The little one wasn’t heavy, leaning quietly against her. She stayed silent, her chilly gaze slightly lowered.
"You shouldn’t leave," Tian Sangsang saw right through her. "You’re still hungry, aren’t you? The stuff in the recruit dorm can’t sustain you for long, right?"
Guan Kunling’s cheeks flushed slightly. She pressed her lips together. "I’m used to being in the shadows."
She hadn’t intended to leave that day. But the moment she did, she was ambushed. She suspected someone had targeted her. Although she’d taken care of those people, she wasn’t sure if they had come for her or for her master. She had to stay in the dark and observe.
"Don’t stay in the shadows—we’ll live together in the light," Tian Sangsang looked at her with resolve.
Guan Kunling shook her head softly yet firmly. "I can’t. It’s too dangerous."
"Even if it’s dangerous, we’ll face it together. Don’t be afraid of danger, Kunling. Okay?"
After a long silence, Guan Kunling was moved. She looked up, her smile as calm as a flower blooming. She lightly bit out one word: "Okay."
"Then let’s go!" Tian Sangsang waved her hand with commanding flair. "To eat!"
"Mommy!" Meng Shuyan suddenly called out, "Is that Chun Zisu?!" After speaking, he sadly lowered his little head again. Mommy had told him that the things floating around on the street weren’t Chun Zisu but Chun Zisu’s twin.
Tian Sangsang looked over in shock, meeting Zhao Chun’s puzzled gaze.
"Hey there!" She smiled brilliantly and waved.
Zhao Chun glanced left and right. Was she greeting him? Why did this woman look a bit familiar? And the child too? Wasn’t this the same Tian Sangsang and her son he’d bumped into at the dance hall last time?
He hesitated for a moment, then took a step forward and two back before cautiously inching his way toward Tian Sangsang. Stammering, he asked, "Com...rade, do you... know Tian Sangsang?"
Tian Sangsang gave off a faint floral fragrance. The child smelled the same—they had to be the ones from that day.
"No..." Tian Sangsang paused, then broke into a grin. "Not at all. I am Tian Sangsang. Tian Sangsang is me."
Zhao Chun’s eyes widened as he stumbled back a step, scanning her up and down in shock, gasping for air.
"You... why are you white now?!" Just the other day, she’d been black!
"I washed clean," Tian Sangsang responded casually.
"With what?"
"With Omo."
"Huh?" Zhao Chun scratched his head in confusion. What’s Omo? What kind of ingenious thing is that?
"Were you looking for me?"
"No," Zhao Chun shook his head instinctively, then just as instinctively nodded. "Yes, yes!"
"So were you or weren’t you?" Tian Sangsang smirked, her eyes arching with amusement.
Unexpectedly, now that she’d turned white, she actually looked more like a woman. Her smile was truly captivating. If she agreed to act in a film... wait, that was it! Let her be the lead actress for the script he’d received today... Zhao Chun was dumbfounded as he stared.
"Don’t look at me like you’ve seen a monster. I won’t eat you."
"Right." Oh wait, she’s some sort of spirit! One that could switch from black to white! If this spirit transformed back to her original form while acting, that’d be trouble. Could she handle being the leading lady?
"Alright, let’s get down to business."
Zhao Chun still couldn’t calm his nerves. He fixed his gaze on her. "I heard you sang ’Hero Song’?"
"That’s right."
"A film studio wants to collaborate with you. They’re willing to pay to buy ’Hero Song.’ Are you interested?"
"Which studio?"
"It’s a bit of a long story," Zhao Chun suggested. "How about we find a place to talk it over?"
"Fine," Tian Sangsang pointed to a roadside noodle shop. "Let’s go in there—my friend’s hungry."
Zhao Chun had already noticed the icy woman beside Tian Sangsang. One an ice queen, one a mischievous spirit, and the child... the child was the most likeable of the bunch. He couldn’t help but think nervously as he glanced at the child.
He looked again at the child. The kid lay slouched on the ice queen’s shoulder, his big round eyes staring directly at him—eerie, penetrating stares...
Zhao Chun shivered.
A table, four chairs. The shopkeeper brought out four big bowls of braised noodles and four small bowls of seafood soup.
Amid the rising steam, Guan Kunling ate her noodles quietly. From time to time, her cold gaze landed on Zhao Chun. This man who, in her old days, could’ve served as a concubine—what was his connection to the master?
"Since it’s me who asked to meet, this meal’s on me. Everyone, dig in. We’ll talk after we eat." Zhao Chun spoke courteously.
Tian Sangsang thought to herself, what’s the point of saying that? Guan Kunling’s already eating.
Meng Shuyan happened to be sitting across from Zhao Chun. Upon hearing this, he turned his head away haughtily, his face exuding an air of noble disdain.
"Little one," Zhao Chun couldn’t resist teasing him.
"I am Meng Shuyan." He turned his head back, leveling Zhao Chun with a regal, contemptuous glare.
