“In my opinion, she’s already married with children. There’s no need for her to take the university exam now.”

A woman married into the family for two years, with no school attendance during that time, suddenly passing a university exam is indeed an impressive feat for any family.” Wang Jieyu sneered.

“We’ll just wait and see how she manages to get into university.” Her deskmate chimed in.

“I’ll go meet her.” Wang Jieyu stood up with a book: “We’re classmates, we should get to know each other.”

“I’ll go with you.” Her deskmate wouldn’t miss the chance to witness some drama.

“Hello, sister.” Wang Jieyu approached Xiaofeng with a smile: “I’m Wang Jieyu, nice to meet you.”

Xiaofeng looked at her. The girl’s straight hair fell softly; she had the youthful elegance and quietness typical of a young lady, and she curled her lips: “Hello.”

She was going to study with the class for two months and was naturally familiar with the people in it.

“Sister, you did really well in this month’s exam. We all admire you.”

“Not really, still far from others in the class.” Her grades were just average and not particularly outstanding.

With the current scores, entering God North or Dihua is impossible. She had to push harder, which is why she decided to study with the class.

“Yang Yang seems interested in her, but her studies are terrible; all she does is act cute all day.” Yang Yang, being an academic star, surely prefers someone equally academically accomplished.

No way he would fancy someone like Xiaonian with poor grades.

“Exactly, that Quan Xiaonian; her grades are really bad. With her scores, getting into an average university would be tough. Yang Yang’s grades are excellent, no way he would be interested in her. In our class, I think you and Yang Yang would be the best match.”

“Don’t say that; everyone is preparing for college entrance exams, and I’m not thinking along those lines.” Wang Jieyu glanced at Yang Yang, still talking to Xiaonian, feeling irritated.

The teacher Mr. Lu was also at fault, bringing Quan Xiaonian into the class unnecessarily, wasn’t he?

“I’m serious; your grades are so good, and Yang Yang’s are too. You should aim for the same school, and perhaps something could develop.” Her deskmate winked playfully.

“Stop it; who knows what the future holds.” Wang Jieyu blushed, her mind racing with ideas on how to make Yang Yang dislike Xiaonian and her sisters.

“I heard she was at the bottom of her class.” Her deskmate seemed well-informed on the matter: “Really poor, but after extra lessons from Mr. Lu, their scores started picking up.”

“Do you think someone can drastically improve their grades in just a week or two? I can believe a couple of points improvement, but you saw this exam’s results; even Quan Xiaonian and Yu Shuiling weren’t left behind in the rankings, more like average.” To Wang Jieyu, the three sisters’ scores seemed questionable.

Her deskmate, always in sync with Wang Jieyu, immediately chimed in: “They were getting extra tutoring from Mr. Lu; he wouldn’t just let them slide, right?”

Even though their scores have improved inexplicably, they took the exam with everyone else.

“Of course, Mr. Lu wouldn’t allow such favoritism; he’s not that kind of person. But someone could be buttering them up and letting them slide, don’t you think?” Wang Jieyu sneered.

They managed to enter the class solely based on their family’s status. Similarly, the sudden score improvement could indicate there’s more at play.

“Are you suggesting someone handed them the answers in advance, and they just memorized them for the exam?” Her deskmate responded eagerly to her implications.

Wang Jieyu smirked but said nothing more.

Yet her deskmate understood her well, being around Wang Jieyu long enough to grasp her thoughts.

After class, she gathered a few classmates she regularly hung out with, shared her suspicions, and they agreed it was possible.

Grades can indeed improve rapidly on occasion, but substantial short-term progress usually occurs gradually; the sudden spike in performance is suspect.

Now that Quan Xiaonian and her sisters have improved quickly, there must be something amiss.

Soon enough, rumors spread throughout the class, suspecting that Quan Xiaonian and her sisters had questions surrounding their scores.

Contrary to achieving them by self-study, they were thought to have memorized answers beforehand and simply copied them during the exam.

Hearing this, classmates who initially had a good impression of Xiaonian and her sisters instantly devalued their opinions, feeling disdain toward them.

Being unable to earn grades through genuine effort feels undeserving.

Xiaonian heard the gossip and was furious, on the brink of tears.

“Sister, who is so heartless to spread such rumors to discredit us? We tackled this exam one question at a time. We’d love to copy; the problem is there are no answers to copy!” Xiaonian felt deeply wronged.

She had taken the exam seriously only to find classmates discussing them memorizing answers beforehand.

“There’s definitely someone slandering us from behind; if I find out who it is, I’ll skin them alive.” Yu Shuiling was equally mad: “We have the ability; if you don’t believe us, challenge us!”

Listening to the two venting, Xiaofeng smiled: “People can say what they want; it’s none of our business.”

“Sis, I can’t let this go. I need to find who is defaming us; this is so unethical. Do they have proof to claim we memorized answers for the exam?” Xiaonian wasn’t willing to let it fade away, determined to uncover the truth.

“Exactly, without evidence it’s just slander. I won’t let this go either.” Xiaonian and Shuiling, known as the Little Witch and Elf Spirit, weren’t going to let anyone off easy if provoked.

“Sis, someone is clearly targeting us. If we don’t get to the bottom of this, no matter how well we perform on future exams, people will say we memorized answers. We’re working so hard studying; I can’t allow such a reputation.” Xiaonian pouted.

“How do you plan on investigating?” It’s indeed necessary to clear this suspicion, or else future exams would only perpetuate their notoriety for memorizing answers.
