The Fourth Lady wanted to brush the whole thing off like it was nothing, but the anger in her eyes gave her away. In the end, she gritted her teeth and snapped, "Mother, Morris is scheming. He''s smearing Jackson''s name and trying to drive a wedge between us as husband and wife. His intentions couldn''t be more malicious."

The matriarch paused for a moment, then replied, cool as ever, "If Nathan is making things up, I''ll make sure he gives you both an exnation."

A sh of wicked satisfaction lit up the Fourth Lady''s eyes.

Dinner that night was a family affair, set out in the garden''s gazebo.

There were two tables: one for the matriarch and the older generation, and one for Lydia and the younger crowd. Since Nathan was new to the family and happened to be the Sharp family''s eldest grandson, Mrs. Vincent made sure he sat right next to her.

When everyone had settled in, the matriarch addressed the group. "I brought you all together tonight for two reasons. First, with Nathan back in the family, we should think of a proper name for him-one that fits the Sharp family''s traditions."

"And second, we need to talk about Nathan''s job. As the direct grandson, he''d usually be considered the heir, but given his health, he may not be up for that. Still, aside from the top spot, he should be able to choose any position he wants at Vincent Corporation."

She looked around, watching everyone''s reactions.

Morris spoke up, calm and steady. "I don''t care about thest name, but I''m not changing my first name."

Jules went a little pale.

He didn''t seem to care about his birth parents, but he was strangely attached to the name Nathan. What was that about?

"Is there something special about the name ''Nathan''?" Jules asked.

Morris nodded. "Yeah."

The matriarch was quick to agree. "Alright, Nathan it is."

Morris''s expression didn''t change.

Jules felt a weird ache in his chest.

The matriarch moved things along. "Name settled. Now, about work... what do

you all think about making him Operations Manager?"

The aunts and uncles all nced at each other, but no one wanted to speak up first.

But at the kids table, theints started flying "Grandma, that''s not fair! Why should he get such an important job just foring back? We dont even know if he can handle it. I think he should start at the bottom like the rest of us."  s

The matriarch hesitated. "Well-"

Before she could finish, Morris picked up his wine ss, tipped it back, and drank

it all in one go. He set the ss down with a thud and looked sideways at his

younger cousin. "You think I should start at the bottom?"fnc1fe For original chapters go to find?novel/fnc1fe

"You''re the Director of Marketing at Vincent Corporation. You''ve been back in the States working on market expansion for a while. And you''re saying something that na?ve? Haven''t you ever looked into yourpetition?"  s

Mike was thrown for a loop.

"Competition? You think you''re mypetition?"

Everyone looked a bit confused. Sensing an opportunity to boost his own son, the second master jumped in to make things harder for Morris. "Natham, I heard you spent years in prison You''re only in your twenties what kind of résumé could you possibly have that would make my son see you as a rival?"  s

Backed by his dad, Mike puffed up. "Exactly. Mypetitors are all big names in business. Someone like you doesn''t even register."

Morris just shook his head, clearly unimpressed by the clueless father and son.

He hadn''t worked at any top-tierpany, but Morris was sure of one thing- when it came down to real ability, he could wipe the floor with anyone at this table.
