CHAPTER 146: CHAPTER 146 THE LEGENDARY CHEAP DADDY (2)_1
His entire body was soaked with sweat, and he gulped for air. He had not fallen asleep; merely closing his eyes was enough for Wanyou’s image to appear in his mind.
"Shen Cheng, how are you? Did she appear again?" Wanqian was similarly startled and sat up in bed, her face stricken with horror as she looked at Shen Cheng. As soon as Wanyou appeared in Shen Cheng’s thoughts, she would immediately appear before Wanqian. Shivering, Wanqian’s complexion turned deathly pale.
"Wanqian, it’s okay. We must have faith in Elder Qi." Shen Cheng took several deep breaths before embracing Shen Qian, softly comforting her.
"Shen Cheng, I’m scared! I’m so scared!" Tears streamed down Wanqian’s face as she trembled slightly. Why? Why had Wanyou appeared here again, seeking them out a year after her death? Was it because she hadn’t died peacefully? But if she truly hadn’t died peacefully, why had they been safe for a whole year without any incidents? Why was she coming after them now, a year later? Why? Why was this happening?
"Don’t be afraid. It will be over soon. If Elder Qi can’t solve it, we’ll move out," Shen Cheng suggested after some thought.
"Yes, yes." Wanqian nodded, clinging to Shen Cheng’s body and gently closing her eyes. She was truly exhausted; she yearned for sleep. "Little sister, it’s your big sister!" No sooner had Shen Qian closed her eyes than Wanyou’s sweet, smiling face appeared in her mind. Wanyou, with a smile, called out to Shen Qian.
"AAAH!" Wanqian shrieked, leaping to her feet, her previously closed eyes now wide open.
"Wanqian, it’s all right! There’s nothing to worry about!" Shen Cheng hugged Shen Qian close, shouting in her ear. He knew that every time Wanyou appeared, it started with him and then affected Wanqian.
"SOB SOB SOB... Shen Cheng, I’m really scared, so very scared! She’s appeared again, and she was smiling and talking to me. She laughed, saying, ’Wanqian, I’m your sister!’" Wanqian collapsed into Shen Cheng’s arms, sobbing aloud as she described the scene she had witnessed. She hadn’t been asleep, so why was this happening?
"Mr. Shen, what’s happened?" Elder Qi called out, having heard the loud screams from their room. He knocked repeatedly on the door.
From inside, Wanqian cried, "Elder Qi, please, help me! I can’t take this anymore! I really can’t!"
"Elder Qi, Wanyou came again! She’s here again! Do you smell it? Do all of you smell it? This faint Magnolia Fragrance—this belongs to Wanyou."
Shen Cheng smelled the faint fragrance, embracing Wanqian with one arm while looking pleadingly at Elder Qi and his grandson with the other.
Elder Qi and Qi Zhuochen exchanged glances, then both shook their heads. Everything seemed normal; there was nothing unusual present. How could they possibly see these unclean things? Could it be that their own hearts harbored guilt, leading to such visions?
"Both of you, calm down. I have set up a Formation in this room. Seeing that neither of you will be able to sleep, let’s go and take a look. Whether it’s human or ghost, a single glance will make it clear."
Elder Qi nodded towards them and entered the room that had once belonged to Wanyou. Inside, twenty-four candles burned, casting a dim light that stretched their shadows long and eerily.
The white curtains rustled with the wind, and the candlelight flickered. Shen Cheng and Wanqian followed closely behind Elder Qi, their faces covered in cold sweat.
Suddenly, the fragrance in the room grew stronger. CREAK. The window opened, and a white figure flew in. She wore a long white dress, had shoulder-length hair, and a faint smile on her face. It could be none other than Wanyou.
"Shen Cheng, little sister, were you waiting for me here? I’m here. Sorry to keep you waiting." The figure smiled sweetly at them and then began to walk closer. If one observed closely, they would notice that her toes didn’t touch the ground; she was gliding above it.
"Sister, don’t come any closer! Please don’t! You’re already dead! Why do you keep coming back? Why do you come back to us? Your death wasn’t our fault; you can’t blame us! You jumped willingly; it has nothing to do with me!" Wanqian shrieked, her body quivering uncontrollably.
"Wanyou, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. You’re dead. What’s the use of coming to us? Please go. Just leave," Shen Cheng murmured, looking at the familiar face before him.
"Shen Cheng, little sister, what’s wrong with you? How can you say such things? Do you wish I were dead? I was speaking nicely, and you wish I were dead, you wish I were dead..." Wanyou’s voice shifted from its initial softness to a sharp, piercing tone as she stepped closer to them.
As she walked, Wanyou suddenly leaped into the air, hovering above the twenty-four candles in the room. She cast no shadow, yet she was undeniably present—her face, her words, her smile—everything was disturbingly real.
"You... you..." Wanqian stretched out a trembling hand, her face turning ashen as she stared at the figure hovering in mid-air. "Who are you, and why are you here? If you’re dead, you shouldn’t be here! Don’t you understand that?"
Elder Qi, a peach-wood sword in hand, swung it at Wanyou. He couldn’t feel any demonic aura from her, nor any sign of life. This wasn’t human, nor was it a ghost. What on earth was it? Why was it tormenting Shen Cheng and Wanqian? Everything about this was utterly bizarre.
"I am Wanyou. I am the Wanyou who was beaten to death by Wanqian, the Wanyou who was poisoned to death by Shen Cheng! Shen Cheng, Wanqian, you are both so cruel! Not only did you poison me, but you also beat me to death! You not only harmed me, you also angered Grandpa to death!" Wanyou screamed, allowing the peach-wood sword to pass right through her body.
She continued to shriek as she endured the impact of Elder Qi’s Spells, her body hovering above the candles, completely unaffected. Even when the sword pierced her, no blood appeared. She seemed like a transparent figure, devoid of life.
